SEAT Leon ST Cupra Named Nürburgring’s Fastest Estate

This past few SEAT has developed quite an obsession with the Nürburgring and fastest lap times records. After securing the title of the fastest front-wheel-drive car around the Nürburgring, they have now set the record for the fastest estate car as well with the new SEAT Leon ST Cupra 280.

The waited for the Wörthersee Treffen in Austria and the car’s debut to announce this, because otherwise SEAT Leon ST Cupra would be just another estate car that just happens to have a beefy engine. Now though, the ST has some proper bragging rights.

In order to become the fastest estate car around the Nürburgring Nordschleife SEAT Leon ST Cupra 280 popped in a 7:58.12 minutes. What makes this record more impressive is the fact the ST is still front-wheel-drive, and it still doesn’t have more than 280 PS to play with. The car does, however, boasts a great chassis as well as a Limited Front Slip Differential (VAQ) and a six-speed manual gearbox. This combination evidently works really well.

Other highlights of the SEAT Leon ST Cupra incldue 19-inch alloy wheels, BREMBO high-performance braking system and body-colour side skirts. The car is also one of the roomiest mid-size estate cars with decent cargo space. It is, after all, a wagon, and a wagon has to be good at carrying stuff no matter how fast it might be.
