Skoda caused quite a stir when they unveiled their new rally car, the Fabia R5, and it went on to put on a good show in its first race. Emboldened by that success, they are now introducing the Skoda Fabia Combi R5 which is an estate show car version of the R5 designed for this year’s GTI meeting in Wörthersee, Austria.

It has become a sacred tradition for all VW Group companies to come up with exclusive concept car for the Wörthersee event each year, paying tribute to the parent company in the same vain that gumbas pay tribute to the family boss in the mafia. It’s not a question of choice really!

Skoda has done well this year by creating the Fabia Combi R5. Without much trouble or wasted resources they have come up with something really rather interesting. They just took a Combi and fitted it with the R5 gear they have lying around. Job done.

As such, Skoda Fabia Combi R5 features a powerful bumper and wide air intakes, wide contoured grille is finished in black, flared mud gurads, large rear spoiler, new rear bumper with wide central exhaust pipe and 18-inch alloys. Power comes from a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine, mated to an all-wheel-drive, sequential five-speed transmission and McPherson struts. This car is ready to hit the rally stage after it’s done dominating the stage at the motor show.
