The weird but strangely attractive Lexus IS finally gets the new 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine that debut in the NX 200t crossover and now the car maker has announced its detailed specs. The 2016 Lexus IS 200t packs 241bhp and 350Nm of torque and launches in the UK in September.

That oomph enables the Lexus IS 200t to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in seven-seconds and reach a top speed of 143 mph. But the real highlight of this model and the most impressive number about it is the fuel consumption rating which stands at 40.4 mpg.

The new turbo engine works in tandem in the IS 200t Turbo with an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission that was originally developed for the RC F high-performance coupe. It also benefits from high-end features such as D-4ST fuel injection and a water-cooled cylinder head with integrated exhaust manifold and twin-scroll turbocharger which explain how it can be so powerful and yet so frugal.

Lexus IS 200t Turbo offers the same smoothness and refinement you expect from a V6-powered IS. If anything, it might even be a better nicer to live with seeing as the new engine weighs only 160 kg and is fairly compact in size as well. These characteristics contribute greatly to the reducing the noise, harshness, and vibrations level.
