Infiniti released the first official pictures of the production version of the Q30 compact crossover, confirming the car’s world debut at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show. Created with individuality in mind, the new Infiniti Q30 relies heavily on design to beat its rivals like Mercedes GLA and BMW X1.

This recipe has worked for Infiniti before, of course. It brings back to mind the first generation Infiniti FX, which is now called QXsomething, which debuted with very unusual and daring looks. It went on to become a hit, and so they hope customers would respond well to the unique looks of the Infiniti Q30 as well.

“Design is a key pillar of the Infiniti brand – and the new Q30 Active Compact perfectly embodies this approach,” said Infiniti President Roland Krueger. “The Q30 Active Compact delivers the distinctive design, the driving dynamics and the individuality that our customers expect of an Infiniti vehicle. With our first ever entry in the compact car segment, we continue the product offensive and provide additional options for our discerning customers.”

Infiniti Q30 was first introduced as a concept two years ago, and since then it’s undergone a series of long and arduous tests. The finished product will be built in Sunderland in the UK which then becomes the fourth country on three continents to build Infiniti vehicles. Technical details and pricing are yet to be announced.
