Auction Find: 1981 Lamborghini Countach 400S

Lamborghini Countach is without a doubt one of the most desirable, and highly collectible, classic cars in the world. Amazingly though, the prices have not yet gone insane with this car and you can still pick one of these, like this one here, at auctions for a reasonable sum of money.

Granted, the estimate on this 1981 Lamborghini Countach 400S is between £200,000 and £250,000, and it’ll probably end up selling for more than that. But still, compared to similarly significant cars, especially contemporary Ferraris, it doesn’t sound that bad.

Now, there are a few niggles, let’s say, about this Countach that might put off the hard-core collectors looking for perfection. It is one of only seven right-hand drive examples ever produced, and it has covered 61,155 km (38,221 miles). The Pearl Yellow exterior with Oatmeal Leather with a Black Suede dash top also may not be to everyone’s taste. And it’s said to be in just ‘good’ condition, not great. But hey, at the end of the day, it’s still a Countach!

Commenting on the car ahead of the sale, Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said: “The Lamborghini Countach is truly an iconic supercar and a car that every collector should take the opportunity to own at some point. This particular example is a fabulous piece of 1970’s road art and is worthy of consideration, especially as a low-mileage 1981 LP400S-Series III has recently changed hands in the International market for a substantial sum, and other LP400S’ appear to be changing hands for figures well in excess of our guide price here.”
