Wind-Up Vauxhall Adam C Is Ready for April Fools

We do realize we should play along with the car makers’ April Fools’ jokes in order to ‘prank’ the readers, but we’re not going to do that because a. we think pranking is stupid, and b. some of these jokes are just too silly. Take this, for instance. This is Vauxhall Adam C, a kinetic car powered by a wind-up mechanism.

The way they describe Vauxhall Adam C is a good laugh. Apparently, this is the world’s first full-size production kinetic car capable of covering 125 miles with a 15-minute wind up. That means not only is the Adam C zero emission, it is also good for you health as, according to Vauxhall, winding the clockwork mechanism burns serious calories and gives a good workout to your chest, shoulders, arms and core muscles.

But the pièce de résistance of Vauxhall Adam C is a buzzer that sounds at the end of the fifteen minute wind up and a voice that announces: “End of wind-up!”

“This game-changing technology stands to revolutionise the way we drive,” said Mick Cannical, Vauxhall’s Chief Kinetics Engineer. “We’ve paved the way towards a future of wind-ups. Improving the customer experience is a priority to us and given that the average Brit drives less than 35 miles every day, we estimate the model will appeal to over two-thirds of the population. We expect the growth to be exponential.”
