Just like a smartphone that gets a bigger battery with every new version launched, BMW’s electric i3 has now received a meaty new battery pack that makes it last longer. It’s called the BMW i3 94Ah which is a very self-explanatory name.

So the new model comes with a 94Ah battery on both the BMW i3 and the BMW i3 Range Extender models, replacing the current 60Ah, and it has a capacity of 33kWh thanks to the higher storage density of the lithium ion cells. With so much juice, BMW i3 94Ah is capable of sprinting from 0 to 62 mph in 7.3 seconds and more importantly, it now has a range of 195 miles (276 miles for the Range Extender).

In their press release BMW goes on and on about how the new battery pack works, but we won’t bore you with the technical details. Just know that the new system in the BMW i3 94Ah develops the equivalent of 170 PS and 250 Nm of torque, and corresponding to a top speed of 93 mph and an incredible 470.8 mpge. As for matters regarding the charge, the new i3 comes with a DC Rapid-charge as standard, cutting the charging time to less then three hours.

BMW i3 94Ah comes in a Protonic Blue with Frozen Grey metallic accents borrowed from the i8, but you can customize the interior with stuff like Neutronic cloth in Aragats Grey with BMW i Blue highlights and Dark Oak and eucalyptus wood trim. Prices (in the UK) start at £27,830 for the regular and £30,980 for the Range Extender model.
