You would think that no tuner worthy of the name would care about a middle grade, diesel-powered family crossover like the VW Touareg 3.0 TDI, would you not? But much to the delight of the owners Wimmer RS has come up with a package which, though weak, helps make this car fell a little less bland.

In this program Wimmer VW Touareg gets a nifty power upgrade for its asthmatic 3.0 liter TDI diesel motor which despite its good size makes in standard form only 204 horsepower and 450 ft-lb of torque. Seeing as the Touareg weighs a hefty 2.2 tons, that power can barely move the car out of park. So Wimmer Rennsporttechnik adjusts a few things in the motor and boosts that output to 240 horsepower with 525 ft-lb of torque.

That is hardly impressive to be honest, but the tuner is also working on a 310 horsepower kit. So it should hold you until that one’s ready.

Besides the power upgrade Wimmer VW Touareg also gets a KW coilover suspension system, the famous Variant 3 unit, a sport exhaust system, and a set of 21 inch BBS CH-R wheels in matte black wrapped with 295/35-21 tires. These new bits and bobs do a good job of making the driving experience of the big Toua a tad more inspiring. The crossover now sounds better as it goes along and it hugs the road more tightly as you chuck it into a corner. We still don’t want one, though.
