If you are still mourning the demise of the FJ Cruiser, we have something that might cheer you up a bit. It’s the Permaisuri Toyota Fortuner VRZ and, just like the FJ, it’s a tall and high-riding Toyota SUV. It’s aftermarket, but hey, you gotta meet us halfway!

At any rate, Permaisuri Toyota Fortuner would be a better choice than the FJ mainly because it’s a fully fledged SUV with four proper doors and seven proper seats. But what’s more important to us personally is that it is a lot less embarrassing to be seen in a super tall Fortuner than in a stock FJ. You won’t get the adventures looks of the FJ, but you also don’t the vulgarity that comes with it.

While it’s not available in all markets (only Middle East, Australia, and Asia), the Fortuner is a pretty sensible family SUV with a ton of space inside, great quality, and great features and capabilities that would do well anywhere in the world. But there is no getting away from the fact that it is somewhat dull and boring. That’s why we like what Permaisuri has done here. With only a simple mod they have made the SUV a lot cooler and a lot more fun.
