So yesterday we showed you a rendering of a roadster version of the new Mercedes AMG GT R. Now for something a bit more reasonable. What we have here is rendering speculating on what the new boy looks like in an AMG GT3 livery.

Now this is something that can actually happen in the real world. You see, the GT R is already almost there to be a full-on road-going GT3 car. So the idea of a Mercedes AMG GT R GT3 is not that crazy, as the car only needs a slight nudge to cross the threshold. What’s more, the livery design you see here can be had for the standard GT R through AMG Performance Studio and their endless personalization options. There are already C63s out there sporting this look.

But if we were to create a Mercedes AMG GT R GT3 for ourselves, we wouldn’t be content just with the looks. We would want the car to also perform like a GT3 car, and so the first thing we would do is tune the 585 PS engine in this model to somewhere around 650 PS. Then we would put a wide body kit on it with a proper racing aero kit and some semi-slick tires, and do away with what’s left of the luxury amenities.

Come to think about it, Mercedes already makes a car like this. It’s called the… well… Mercedes AMG GT3!
