After the huge success of the R230 series SL Mercedes-Benz gave us the R231 and it looked so terrible that everybody stopped paying attention to it. The car went into obscurity and we had forgotten about it so badly that when they launched the face-lifted 2017 Mercedes SL we failed to realize it had addressed pretty much all the issues with the previous model.

So we are now going to give the 2017 Mercedes SL the attention it deserves, starting with a thorough and in-depth look at what is in out opinion the finest version of the range, the SL 400:

2017 Mercedes SL comes with a host of visual and technical upgrades over the previous model while retaining the best features. Among the most notable highlights we can mention the automatic transmission 9G-TRONIC, DYNAMIC SELECT with five transmission modes and Active Body Control with the curve tilting function, vario- roof, which can now be operated at up to 40 km/h, and the automatic boot separator. Design-wise, the bonnet, bumper and headlamps, among other features, are all new. As for the engines, you can choose between the SL 400 which comes with a V6 engine uprated to 270 kW (367 hp) and 500 Nm and the SL 500 boasting a 335 kW (455 hp) V8 engine. Above these two sit the SL63 and SL65 AMG models.
