Whichever way you cut it, Audis are very serious looking cars. That is probably why in recent years the manufacturer has developed a taste for bright and vibrant colors, hoping they would soften the aggressive character of their cars. This Ember Orange Audi TT is a case in point, even though the color is somewhat controversial.
For starters, orange really only works on Lamborghinis and maybe, with a pinch of salt, on GT3 Porsches. An Audi, and a super mean looking one like the new TT, finished in bright orange just doesn’t feel right. Then there is the prejudices people have against colors like yellow and orange, since in many countries these colors are featured on emergency vehicles and the like.
That said, some people may find the Ember Orange Audi TT an absolute delight to look at. The paint job does bring out some of the TT’s nice design features such as the sculpted bumpers and the aerodynamic side skirts, but we’re afraid it doesn’t go very well with the 19 inch five-spoke Blade Design rims. When you have an orange car the only wheel color that really works with it is black, either matte or glossy. We reckon this car would look a lot better if that was the case.
