Not that the 5.2 liter flat plane crank V8 in the Mustang Shelby GT350 doesn’t sound delightfully juicy, but for those who want that juiciness infused with a healthy dose of dirtiness, Borla Performance has launched a new cat-back exhaust system. They say this unit saves weight, enhances performance, and improves sound.

So this Borla cat-back thing must be quite special to pull all of that off. Built for the 2015-16 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 5.2L V8 with automatic or manual transmission, the systems retains Ford selectable Driving Modes thanks to a trick valve, it promises long durability because of its T-304 stainless steel construction, and it maintains the factory exhaust tip/bezels to fit the stock rear valance. Borla’s Shelby GT350 does however replace the muffler with the firm’s own ATAK (Acoustically Tuned Applied Kinetics) with the highest available decibel levels in the BORLA street-legal lineup.

“Everybody at BORLA takes enormous pride in our support of the entire Mustang program, which is why we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our first Mustang Shelby GT350 system. I’m always excited to add more systems to our product lines – especially for the Ford Mustang,” said David Borla, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at BORLA. “Since the start, BORLA has been committed to American manufactured cars, and we’re confident owners will enjoy the performance gains and incredible soundtrack that our American-made exhaust gives the Mustang Shelby GT350.”
