The high-performance variants of the Volkswagen Golf are among the most popular hot hatches in the market and so naturally they get a lot of attention from tuners. This time though, tuner Oettinger has actually worked with VW themselves to make a styling package for the Golf GTI, GTD and R.
Designed to enhance the visual appeal of these performance-oriented Golfs, the Oettinger kit is comes with not only new body components for a sportier, more purposeful look, but also a modified exhaust tailored for each model. It’s a quad-tailpipe stainless steel exhaust system and it comes with extra pipes and the appropriate diffuser for the GTD and GTI which have only two outlets as standard and custom tips for the Golf R which already has a quad arrangement.
As for the body kit itself, Oettinger Golf GTI, GTD and R styling treatment includes the aforementioned diffuser, new side skirts, a new rear roof spoiler which incorporates open flaps, a new spoiler and a bespoke splitter. These bits have all been honed and perfected, aerodynamics-wise, in a wind tunnel, so besides giving the Golf a cooler look they also enhance its aero efficiency. The kit is priced at £3,995 for the GTD and GTI versions, and £5,225 for the Golf R, all including VAT, painting and fitting.
