Owning a Mercedes G500 4×4² is like owning an excitable giant puppy. It serves no real purpose in life other than playing and having fun. But it does that brilliantly, providing the owner with a hell of a good time. How good a time, you’re asking? Well, let’s join Shmee150 because he recently got to play with one on the sand dunes of Dubai.

Shmee took to the desert in his friend’s Mercedes G500 4×4² to experience for himself how much fun exactly is this silly thing:

And in case you’ve forgotten, Mercedes G500 4×4² is basically a regular G500 with the axle from a G63 6×6 but with only four wheels. The 4×4 features high-riding portal axles complete with a set of 22-inch 325/55 R 22-sized wheels and adjustable damping with Sport mode which make the thing pretty unstoppable. With a 4.0-litre biturbo engine with an output of 310 kW (422 hp) and maximum torque of 610 newton metres one could argue, however, that the 4×4 is a little underpowered for its size and massive price tag.
