By its nature, BMW M2 is a car at home both on the road and on the race track. But just as it is not a perfect road car – in that it is small and not that comfortable – it also has compromises as a track car. That is where LIGHTWEIGHT BMW M2 CSR comes in with its fully track-focused manners.
Built by LIGHTWEIGHT GmbH, the M2 CSR (Carbon Sport Race) seeks better performance not just through higher power, but also lightness. The roof in M4 design, the hood M4-GTS-design, the trunk lid, the doors, the three-piece extendable front spoiler, the rear end wing, the engine cover, the brakes ventilation and the diffuser are all made from carbon fiber for the sake of lightness. Otehr weight saving measures include carbon-ceramic braking system in the front and rear, side and back windows made of Makrolon, and a titan exhaust system.

But all this weight saving effort is nothing compared to what they have done with the engine in the LIGHTWEIGHT BMW M2 CSR. Pretty much everything from exhaust to turbos to software and manifolds are changed, and the output has jumped from to an unbelievable 621 PS (457 kW) and 767 Nm torque. Other technical highlights include Drexler limited-slip differential and reprogramming of the M mode with the M4 GTS software to make it compatible with the new shifting speed.
