Well, you can go ahead and place an order for the 2018 Toyota Camry, because 2018 Honda Accord has been revealed and it’s not a very good looking car. In fact it looks like something from the 90s, especially around the back. But if you are not superficial and care more about substance than appearance, then the 2018 Accord might have something to offer you.
Underneath that unattractive skin the 2018 Honda Accord is a very technologically-advanced sedan. The main highlights of the car include a lighter and more rigid body structure with Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) platform, an advanced new chassis design, two all-new, high-torque direct-injected and turbocharged engines, the world’s first 10-speed automatic transmission for a front-drive car and a new generation of Honda’s two-motor hybrid technology. It is as up to date technology-wise as the latest iPhone.

Engine-wise, while you no longer get a V6 option there are three available units that are fairly interesting. The first one is a 1.5-liter, 16-valve DOHC direct-injected turbo developing 192 horsepower (HP) at 5,500 rpm and 192 lb-ft. of torque from 1,500 rpm, mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) or, in Sport trim, to a CVT or a 6-speed manual transmission (6MT). The next is a 2.0-liter 16-valve DOHC direct-injected turbo with i-VTEC featuring a 10-speed automatic transmission or, in Sport trim, to the 10AT or an available 6MT. This one makes 252 HP at 6,500 rpm and 273 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,500. The last option is the Accord Hybrid with a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine paired with Honda-developed electric motors.
As for interior and technology, 2018 Honda Accord features a, as always, premium cabin featuring an ultra-slim 7-inch TFT driver’s meter and a new 8-inch Display Audio touchscreen interface. You also get Apple CarPlay and Andoird Auto, a new 6-inch driver’s Head Up Display with selectable information, including speed, engine rpm, turn-by-turn navigation, and Traffic Sign Recognition and WiFi 4G on Touring models.
For 2018, all Accords will feature the full suite of Honda Sensing safety and driver-assistive technologies as standard equipment – Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and new Traffic Sign Recognition. Additional available driver-assistive technologies include Blind Spot Information, front and rear parking sensors, Cross Traffic Monitor and Driver Awareness Monitor; and all models feature a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with dynamic guidelines.
