The Camaro fever is still going on all across the globe, except for Britain where it’s pretty hard for enthusiasts to get a proper right hand drive UK-spec version of the car. This problem is going to be solved, and in a good way, by the new VR Camaro! Although the Brits generally don’t appreciate American muscle cars, but they are getting the Camaro with coolest kit ever made for it! It’s done by Danish design consultancy Hermann and Brandt.

The VR Camaro features a new front bumper with Lambo Reventon-style air intakes, a new muscular hood, radical side sills and a mad rear bumper with a huge diffuser and of course a small boot lid wing. Unlike the standard Camaro which is mostly plastic, this kit is entirely made of carbon fiber.

It’s not all about the show though, the car’s 6.2-liter V8 will also be upgraded using a supercharger. Details are not yet confirmed, but it will have around 600 hp. The VR rolls on 22-inch wheels.

As one of the oldest and finest tuners of GM performance cars, Lingenfelter has the right to convert the new Chevy Camaro into a modern day Pontiac Trans Am! As you know the Pontiac brand and all of its heritage is being killed as part of GM’s reconstruction plan, so this project is actually a great tribute to the brand and one of the coolest cars of all time, the Trans Am.

The car has been in development phase in the past three years but they are going to show it for the first time as a concept at the upcoming SEMA show in Las Vegas next month. The car is powered by a 455 cubic inch V8 engine modified with cylinder heads, pistons and crankshaft along with Corsa custom exhaust to develop 655 horsepower and 610 pound-feet of torque.

The Camaro Tran Am features custom made Honeycomb wheels with size of 20×10-inch for front and 20×11 at the back covered with 275/40-front and 315/35-back NITTO tires. The car also has a custom classic interior resembling the original Trans Am.

General Motors is now offering a special edition of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro for the fans of blockbuster “Transformers”. The car is distinguished with its Rally Yellow paint job and black stripes, as well as other movie-related AUTOBOT features. Camaro Transformers edition can be had with LT or SS trims. As for the engines you get the 3.6 liter 304hp V6, 426hp 6.2 liter V8 or the new L99 V8 with 400hp and 25 mpg. The package is priced at $995.

DETROIT – Fans of the new Camaro and the blockbuster TRANSFORMERS movies can now combine their love of the car and the films with the Chevrolet Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition announced today at Comic-Con in San Diego.

“When the first TRANSFORMERS movie was setting box office records, we had countless customers asking to purchase the ‘BUMBLEBEE’ Camaro,” said Karen Rafferty, product marketing director, Chevrolet. “Now, they can buy one with the new Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition. Streets all over North America will be buzzing in no time.”

Features such as an EPA-rated 29 highway mpg on the V6-powered Camaro, Bluetooth phone connectivity, USB connectivity, XM Satellite Radio and OnStar combined with TRANSFORMERS design cues add to the car’s status as a 21st century sports car.

“Hasbro is thrilled to team up with Chevrolet and excited to see the Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition come to market for our fans to enjoy,” said Samantha Lomow, Global Brand Leader for TRANSFORMERS at Hasbro. “The yellow Camaro with the black stripes has become so iconic and closely associated with the BUMBLEBEE character that this edition was a natural fit for both companies.”

The V6-powered Camaro uses a 3.6L engine with variable valve timing to optimize performance and fuel economy. It is SAE-certified at 304 horsepower (227 kW) and 273 lb.-ft. of torque (370 Nm). A six-speed manual transmission is standard with the 3.6L engine; a Hydra-Matic 6L50 electronically controlled six-speed automatic, with TAPshift control, is available.

The high-performance Camaro SS is equipped with a powerful 6.2L V-8, with a choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Manual transmission-equipped models receive the LS3 engine, SAE-certified at 426 horsepower (318 kW) and 420 lb.-ft. of torque (569 Nm). It is paired with a TR6060 six-speed transmission.

A new, L99 V-8 engine is used on automatic transmission-equipped SS models. It is based on the LS3, but also includes GM’s fuel-saving Active Fuel Management feature. It is SAE-certified at 400 horsepower (298 kW) and 410 lb.-ft. of torque (556 Nm). It is matched with a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed transmission that helps delivers an EPA-estimated 25 mpg on the highway.

General Motors has finally found what was the cause of transmission failure in some of the 2010 Camaro SS models equipped with manual gearbox and they have fixed it, but they are not going to reveal more details about it! last week, following quit a few reports on this problem, GM put production of Camaro SS on hold, but now it’s in business again.

Camaro’s gearbox issue in brief, was due to failure of the output shaft in GM’s Termec 6060 boxes, mostly on hard launches with 5000+ revs. That used to happen with or without using the car’s launch control. GM says that affected cars will be fixed under warranty, but no recall would be necessary since the issue is totally solved in the assembly plants.

GM spokesman Adam Denison told NewYork Times that “SS production at the Oshawa plant in Ontario was continuing, but a few cars were being held for inspection to make sure the problem had been resolved.” As for the cause of the problem he said: “I think they want to keep that one pretty close to their chest!”

2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS equipped with manual gearbox might get an early recall due a major flaw in its Tremec 6060 transmission, reported by many owners. Apparently the hard launches cause the problem mostly when the car’s launch control is turned on, that causes failure of the output shaft. However in some cases the problem occurred even with the LC off.

General Motors gets noticed by the problem as more and more complaints were posted on Camaro5 forums and responsibly, they put the car’s production on hold until they address the issue. And they will plan a recall to fix defected cars.

GM uses this gearbox on many other high performance V8s without a problem. If you are an owner of a manual Camaro SS, it is advised to go easy on it and specifically don’t do burnouts! Automatic Camaro owners can go as hard as they want!

Since the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro came out, guys at Hennessey Performance Engineering put all the other works on hold and just got busy bumping up Camaro’s horsepower figure. And when they couldn’t get more out of it, they just chucked it out and installed the LS9 V8 engine! That’s what GM uses in the Corvette ZR1. And they’ve also tuned it to over 700hp! For Hennessey, it’s never enough! Their latest tuning package for 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, the HPE550 was pretty pretty hot with 562 hp. But it somehow didn’t phase them enough so they’ve tried to mount a bigger engine in it! And what engine better than Corvette ZR1′s V8 LS9 carat which is the finest GM has ever built.

And they have also fiddled with it so in the Camaro it develops 705 hp and a whopping 717 lb-ft of torque. Hennessey says they will only offer 24 HPE700 packages and each for $39,500 and That’s not included the initial 2010 Chevy Camaro!

So with the LS9 engine and 705 hp you might think it’s the best Hennessey has to offer, but you are wrong! Becasue they are working on a 1000hp twin-turbo version of the car. That will be quit expensive but still the most affordable 1000hp car you can buy! Like I said, it’s never enough!

2010 Chevrolet Camaro has made its Middle East debut in the UAE and will be on sale across the region from August. The new Camaro in the Gulf starts from AED 120,000 for the LT model with a 3.6 liter V6. There is also the top of the line  SS model which is powered by a 3.5 liter V8. Apart from the optional extras, you can order the Rally Sports package for both trims if you want your Camaro to look even more sporty!
