2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Results

In the alcohol-free Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi at the newly-built circuit of Yas Marina, German driver Sebastian Vettel finished in the first place following by Aussie Mark Webber, giving Red Bull team a neat one-two finish. This win also confirmed Vettel’s position as the championship runner-up, quit an achievement for this young and talented driver. Jensen Button from Brawn GP, who has already secured 2009 world title, came third following by his teammate Rubens Barrichello. However, the reigning champ Lewis Hamilton who started the race from pole position had to retire early due to a brake problem.

The amazing circuit of YAS Marina in Abu Dhabi hosts the season finale GP of this year’s Formula1 world championship, and today it witnessed the first official laps during the qualifying session! Regardless of the track’s awesome sightings, and the uber cool view of Ferrari Theme park in the Ben Yas Island, we enjoyed an exciting qualifying race in which the British world champion Lewis Hamilton managed to secure the pole position at the very last moments.

Ben Yas Island in Abu Dhabi is pretty busy these days. Thousands of workers and engineers are working tirelessly there to get things ready in time. We’ve already shown you the progress of Ferrari theme park, that is doing pretty well. But the most important feature of this unique island is indeed the Yas Marina Formula1 circuit which is going to host this year’s season finale.

This amazing animation showcases the finished product, as a sort of teaser for the upcoming event. Designed by Hermann Tilke, Yas circuit is one of the most advanced F1 facilities in the world. As you see in this virtual Grand Prix in the start/stop section spectators are really close to the action! It’s gonna be huge fun!
