The special Military Tribute Camaro, designed by airbrush artist Mickey Harris, sold for $175K to an internet bidder at the Barrett-Jackson auction.

The money will benefit the Achilles Freedom Team, which helps wounded veterans of all services overcome their injuries through athletics, including marathons.

Based on a 2010 Camaro SS, the military tribute car toured 30 military bases across the country, including the Pentagon. It was commissioned by the GM Military Discount program, and represents all five branches of the armed forces (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard) and some of the military’s highest individual awards and current campaign medals. It coolest feature, however, is the American flag on the bonnet.

Before this another Limited Edition Camaro SS was sold for $100,000 at a Barrett-Jackson auction to benefit the Cell Phones for Soldiers program.

Chevrolet’s support for military men and women includes:

Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans: In 2011, Chevrolet underwrote a portion of Achilles costs for participating in the Los Angeles, Boston and Detroit marathons, as well as other events. Chevrolet also has donated a Silverado HD truck and 20 hand cycles to the team.

GM Military Discount Program: Considered the most generous military discount program in the industry, GM offers GM Preferred Pricing (the same price extended to GM suppliers) on any Chevrolet (except Volt), Buick or GMC. On Jan. 19, Staff Sgt. Brian Nagy of Columbus, Ohio took delivery of a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze LTZ in the program’s Red White and Cruze Sweepstakes. In 2011, Chevy Silverado, Cruze and Camaro were the most popular vehicles sold.

Cell Phones for Soldiers: This program provides phone cards to service men and women. In 2011, Chevrolet raised $212,000 (worth 100,000 hours of talk time) from the auction proceeds of a 2012 Honor and Valor Camaro SS and Chevrolet donations of $100 for every car and truck sold during Military Appreciation Month in May. Since 2010, Chevrolet has collected more than 70,000 used cell phones, worth 70,000 hours of talk time.

Travis Manion Foundation: The GM Foundation provided $250,000 to this foundation that assists veterans and the families of fallen heroes. Its namesake is First Lt. Travis L. Manion, killed in 2007 in Iraq by sniper fire while defending against an enemy ambush.

For the second consecutive year Chevrolet Camaro is recognized as the hottest car of the SEMA show in Las Vegas.

The award is awarded to a car most rewarding for its personalization options, the most accessory-friendly vehicle, based on the volume of aftermarket parts exhibited. And with the great number of custom Camaros different tuner, and GM themselves, brought to this year’s show, Camaro just flattened the competition and became a two time winner.

COPO Camaro – A conceptual exploration of a factory-built Stock Eliminator race car and the spiritual successor to the legendary special-order models from 1969.

Camaro Synergy Series Concept – Using the best of the best Camaro accessories matched with a distinctive silver exterior with red accents, it’s the latest in the Synergy concepts that have debuted at SEMA. Chevrolet will be listening to the reaction it receives at SEMA, as it could be brought to production.

Camaro 1LE Concept – The legendary 1LE designation returns to the Camaro as a concept intended to carve up road courses. While only a concept, it borrows production components from both the Camaro SS and forthcoming Camaro ZL1 to deliver a competition-ready package.

Camaro ZL1 Carbon Concept – This concept incorporates all the technology and performance of the Camaro ZL1 – which goes on sale in 2012 – with an added layer of carbon fiber to add a decidedly sinister-looking element of form to a car that’s all about function.

The COPO Camaro turn-key dragster is Chevy’s answer to Mustang Cobra Jet and Challenger dragster.

The spiritual successor to the 1969 COPO (Central Office Production Order) Camaros, the new car can be fitted with different engines including a 7.0 liter naturally aspirated 427 engine for those who really want to honor the original COPO, or a 5.3 liter supercharged 327.

The car is currently on display at SEMA as a concept. GM has not yet confirmed if they are going to take orders for this dragster.

“The COPO Camaro is a proof of concept for what a Chevrolet Stock Eliminator entry could look like,” said Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “And it is a clear indication that Chevrolet intends to homologate the Camaro for sportsman drag racing.”

The basic content for the COPO Camaro Concept includes:

• Provisions for two engine configurations (see below for details)
• Provisions for a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission, a three-speed automatic or a five-speed manual
• High-rise cowl-induction hood

The engines

The concept vehicle is powered by a prototype version of the supercharged 327 engine, featuring an LSX cylinder block.

Chevrolet unveiled the Hot Wheels Camaro they’d promised at SEMA, paying tribute to the 1968 “Custom Camaro” 1:64-scale toy.

That was part of the original 16 Hot Wheels cars released back then. This full-size custom Camaro is a joint project between General Motors Design studio in Michigan and the Hot Wheels Design studio in California.

Styling features include classic Hot Wheels colors, flat-black graphics, red-line wheels and, of course, the dazzling metallic-green finish.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Hennessey Performance came up with a limited edition of just 20 black on black 2012 Camaro coupe and convertible featuring the HPE650 pacakge.

So you know because of the 650 supercharger kit, this Camaro makes 655 bhp and can be had with either a 6 speed Speed Manual or Automatic Transmission. As mentioned the car comes with black exterior and full black leather interior.

Because of this black on black theme the car might fool you into thinking this is a stock Camaro and not a mighty Hennessey one. So they bolted massive multi-spoke chrome wheels under it as a telltale sign of its inner power.

Performance-wise, Camaro HPE650 does 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds and runs a quarter mile in 11.7 seconds at 122 mph.

Even though the current Camaro V6 is doing pretty good, rumors are flying around that GM will soon introduce a new version, called the LFX V6 to make sure it’s fully prepared to take on the Mustang V6. The LFX V6 apparently has 330 hp, which is not significant given the 312 hp of the current model.

What is significant about the new 3.8 liter V6, is the technologies they’ve used to make it more efficient, including Spark-Ignition Direct-Injection, Dual Overhead Cams, and Variable Valve Timing, and then really make sure it’s superior than Mustang’s engine they added E85 capability for good measure!

So by the looks of things it should be able to return great fuel economy, even better the Mustang’s 30 mpg. We can’t wait for the official ratings!

You usually see Irmscher badge on Opel cars, but they also work on other General Motors productions such as the Camaro. Based on the SS model, the Irmscher Camaro i42 gets a supercharged version of the 6.2 liter V8 engine that kicks out more than 500 horsepower. It does 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds and has a top speed of 275 km/h.

To cope with the extra power, it also gets performance brakes with consisting of 380 mm with 6 piston calipers at front and 355 mm with 4 piston calipers at the back, and stiffer suspension.

Only hearing Lingenfelter raises the heartbeat of American muscle car lovers, so this video can very well cause them a heart attack! This is a new Camaro Dragster by Lingenfelter and if we cut straight to the chase, it runs the quarter mile in an almost unbelievable 8.99 seconds while doing 158 mph. The reason it is so insanely fast, is a modded LS9 V8 boosted with Eaton supercharger, which puts out a staggering 1,243 horsepower! If only they could make a road-going version of this!

Hennessey has introduced so many packages for the Chevrolet Camaro since its launch that is getting a bit confusing to tell them apart, and that’s becasue of the 1000 hp version which made us forget about all the rest! This newly released video shows a Camaro SS equipped with the HPE600 package developing 602 bhp, which a mid-range model. It’s just a pity the film is so short, we can watch a fine muscle car like this roaring around all day.

You can’t talk about Chevrolet Camaros of 2010 SEMA show without mentioning the Red Flash, and it’s just becasue of its awesome color and stripes! This is a concept show car prepared by Chevrolet themselves using various parts from their accessories bin. As mentioned the main highlight of this car Red Jewel exterior color garnished with two white stripes and complemented by 210inch gray wheels.

The Camaro Red Flash also sports a unique rear spoiler from Chevy catalog and special chrome badging. The interior also features red theme with titanium accents and racing pedals and special floor and cargo mats. The engine is the same that goes into the Camaro SS, but it’s been given an air intake system and exhausts from the accessory department. The engine cover is also painted in Red Jewel.

Beside the Corvette Zo6X track car concept, Chevrolet also revealed the Camaro SSX track car concept at the SEMA show. Just like the ‘Vette, the Camaro too wears a unique icy White Metallic color with red accents and exposed carbon fiber parts. Maybe that’s the new special paint job for Chevy’s track-ready models.

The car is based on the Camaro SS and features uprated suspension and tweaked chassis for the track job. It is also lighter than the base car thanks to a carbon fiber aero kit with front splitter and adjustable rear wing – lightweight carbon fiber body panels, revised lower grille and unique brake cooling ducts.

Since it’s a track car, they’ve also ditched the sound-deadening material, carpeting and rear seat for the sake of lightness. Good!

As all American tuners are gathering up in Las Vegas for the SEMA, showing off their custom Camaros a Bulgarian tuner called Atanas Vilner schooled them on how to make the perfect Camaro! The main feature of this car is the new interior, becasue Vilner who is a Camaro enthusiast, has a company that refines car interiors.

So when he got his Camaro which is a V6 manual he got busy with its cabin. And he created a very unique interior which is 110 percent better than the car’s original plasticy and rather cheap cockpit. Vilner has used nubuck, aged nappa and chrome in a stylish combination of grey and brown. They got their inspiration from Camaros of the 60s. And it certainly is very nice and luxurious. Vilner Camaro also has an illuminated instrument panel in electric blue.

Nasko Vilner’s car got 8-piston brake kits and the halogens gave way to the impressive LED lights. A subtle body kit and an upgraded audio system completes the package.

The perfect Camaro

“This is impossible,” said the Reason.

Atanas Vilner is the owner of a Bulgarian company for vehicle interior and as such he definitely has affinity to cars. He fell in love with the new Chevrolet Camaro the very moment he saw it as a prototype. Three years later, he managed to become one of the first Europeans with the fifth generation of the legendary American coupe. And surely – the first Bulgarian.

At the end of 2009, the aspired Camaro is already a fact for our happy fellow countryman. The dream-come-true for Nasko Vilner arrived in Bulgaria with Silver Ice metallic varnish, V6 engine and manual gear-box. Its power is 312 hp, and the acceleration of the US muscle car is 6,1 sec from 0 to 100 km/h. Sufficient to provide intriguing moments on the road. During some of which the back wheels mark long and smelly lines of rubber on the road…

Since the owner of the grey Camaro is engaged in interior design of vehicles, interference in the interior of the sport coupe is inevitable. Moreover, almost all modern US vehicles are rather simple and too plastic in terms of furniture.

Thus, the brand new Camaro got its even more brand new interior. The front panel, steering-wheel, seats, ceiling – everything is touched by the designer and with a new image. The humdrum black interior is replaced with a stylish combination in grey and brown. Nubuck, aged nappa and chrome cover almost all surfaces in the coupe. In order to turn it into a festival of style and exclusivity. And also into a courtesy of the original from the middle of last century.

The seats are reupholstered in two colors. The seams cut through their surface in the same way as the seats of the first Camaro from the 60ies are made. Chevrolet’s designers have designed a retro hitch in the mileage-meter and cyclometer, which in the Vilner’s version are illuminated in electric blue, accentuated with chrome and covered in aged nappa. Surmounted with large seams in light grey. Just as the leather elements with scorched edges, filigreed on the chromed door handle. This detail is so precisely designed that it creates the illusion that the leather emerges out of the chromed surface.

Brown is the accent on the transmission tunnel, manual brake, awnings and even fragments of the ceiling. Yet, probably the most interesting modification in this Camaro’s interior is the totally new steering-wheel. It gained additional elements, which provide better grasp and the design is more futuristic. The manually sewn leather and nubuck give this steering-wheel the air that only tailor-made vehicles have. Unlike them, however, this vehicle is with totally new noise-isolation, which completely changes the acoustics in the coupe. Since the music (the system is Boston Acoustics) is adjusted for the old levels of noise, it appears to be inappropriate for the new interior. And since it is not cool to have a great car with bad music, some adjustment plays would decide the problem. In order to turn the Camaro into a concert hall on 4 wheels.

The modifications of the US vehicle are not limited to the interior alone. Nasko Vilner’s car got 8-piston brake kits and the halogens gave way to the impressive LED lights. If you take a close look of the wheel rims, you will see impressive Camaro and Vilner inscriptions. Definitely an interesting trick, which is not too pressing. This effect is also noticed in the American Camaro internet forum, where the Bulgarian project won the applauses and admirations of many US fans of the model. To such an extent that one of them said „ … this interior is a complement to the stylish car design. Very good job…”

This is Vilner’s Camaro. The great American car parts with its minor flaws and turns into the perfect vehicle. Unique, exclusive and very stylish. A real dream. And what are dreams really, except a breath of fresh air for the soul…

As we’ve seen before it’s not an easy task turning a Camaro into a Trans Am, it just don’t work! But that doesn’t stop tuners from trying, so here we go again this time Heide Performance Products has come up with a package which converts the Camaro into a 1969 Tran Am, sort of! They’ve recreated the same pointy nose, grille and headlights, but as you see it’s just plain hideous. That cute Blondie in the picture is the only reason you might want to look at it! Their T-Top Camaro, a picture of which you can see after the jump, is a much better job.

After successfully dropping the top on the Camaro and creating the Camaro Convertible long before the factory-made model arrives, Drop Top Customs is now offering a T-Top kit for this magnificent muscle car. They do this becasue GM can’t be bothered! We don’t really dig the looks of it, but it must be pretty cool from inside the car. As you expect the Camaro T-Top will make its debut at this year’s SEMA and then will go on sale in November.

So what, you might be thinking! But you see, it’s pretty amazing becasue the car was sold out in just three minutes since they started taking orders. All 100 units, each sporting a price tag of $75,000, were gone in a jiffy! That’s an incredible performance. The Neiman Marcus Edition is defined by its exclusive Deep Bordeaux exterior color, accented by subtle, “ghosted” rally stripes. The exterior color is complimented by a matching fabric top and windshield frame finished in matte silver, both also exclusive to the Neiman Marcus edition.

You see, this is what happens to the Transformers without Megan Fox!!! People loose concentration thinking about her and crash into Cop cars that were not supposed to there anyway! Not sure how, but apparently a police car turned up at a closed set where they’ve been recording a scene of the new Transformers 3, just as the Bumblebee Camaro is accelerating hard straight forward. The consequence? Well, watch it above!

In case you were wondering how the new Camaro Convertible looks at front, well here it is! Before this, Chevrolet had only released a single picture of the rear-end, and that sparked the rumor that maybe the car is substantially different than the coupe. As it turns out though, it is exactly the same, only about 50 – 60 percent cooler. The car will be revealed in full at the forthcoming LA Autoshow, and will go on sale early next year with a starting price of around $30,000.
