TIKT’s idea of a powerful Corvette is really very scary, both to look at and to deal with.

Let’s cut to the chase. This ZR1 makes 769 hp and 910 Nm of torque. That’s a lot, especially in a fiber glass-bodied car with a not-so-sophisticated chassis. But then, the standard ZR1 has 650 hp, so…

To extract that power from the ZR1′s supercharged V8 TIKT has changed the cylinderheads and camshafts, altered compression ratio, fitted sports exhausts, and a remapped ECU. To cope, the cooling system is also tweaked and its capacity increased.

Other modifications include an aerodynamic body kit with too many holes in it, lowered suspension, and some sticky tires wrapped around some unusually big wheels.

Inside you get carbon fiber trims, racing bucket seats with unique upholstery and a flat-bottomed steering wheel wrapped in suede.

Smocking Tires’ Matt Farah takes a 620-hp Corvette ZR1 to the Mojave Mile in his quest to hit 180mph. He didn’t manage to accomplish that goal, but he brought to us an honest review of the car. The ZR1 is considered one of the ultimate American supercars, and it’s certainly got enough power and speed to back it up. But what’s it like to live it everyday. Well, as Matt finds out, not very nice. You might think then it’s a supercar, who cares. But riding into the equation is the giant slayer Nissan GTR. It manages to be even faster without having any of the ‘Vette’s drawbacks. But then the Corvette is a lot more fun to drive… got a bit complicated, hasn’t it!

This Corvette ZR1 might look pretty much standard, but it’s supercharged engine has been tuned by Late Model Racecraft tuning center. And by the looks of things they’ve managed to extract a million horsepower out of it, because as you see in the video it runs an unbelievably quick quarter mile in 9.68 seconds at 147 mph. That is pretty freaking fast, especially for a Corvette, a supercar most people can afford. Kodus to LMR.

Chevrolet just released this video of the 2012 Corvette ZR1 lapping the Nurburgring in 7:19.63. That’s six seconds faster than the record set by the previous ZR1 in 2008, and shows the real effect of all the upgrades and tweaks that GM engineers have made to the car, namely the new Michelin Pilot Sport tires that play a major part in the car’s amazing performance. That lap record is just astonishing, considering that the car is factory-standard, and you can buy it aorund $100K. Almost everything else capable of that time is either a purpose-built track car, or costs at least twice as much.

One thing that we like the most about Hennessey Performance, besides their huge obsession with horsepower, is the fact that they always put their money where their mouth is. They don’t just claim something, they will prove it to you by drag or dyno videos. In this video John Hennessey himself takes you for a ride in the latest product, the ZR750. Based on the Corvette ZR1, this beast makes nearly a 100 hp more than the standard car. OMG then!

Yep, your car needs sunscreen too! Well, only if it has exposed carbon fiber bits. You see, the sun degrades the material that are not protected with paint, so you couldn’t have the cool looks of exposed-weave carbon fiber in your production car. But now GM engineers have come up with a solution, applied on the Corvette ZR1, which is a glossy, UV-resistant clear coat that basically acts like sunscreen. It also shields the components from chips and scratches.

“Everyone said it couldn’t be done, and we were crazy for trying,” said Mark Voss, senior design engineer for the ZR1.

“Our challenge was finding a way to give our customers exposed-weave carbon fiber with the durability they have come to expect from a Corvette,” Voss said. “Other automakers have opted for fake attempts at a carbon-fiber look.  With the Corvette ZR1, we wanted to give customers the real deal.”

For a consumer vehicle, exposed-weave carbon fiber, with its honeycombed appearance, offers the fuel efficiency of painted carbon fiber, but has a unique aesthetic. The ZR1 features exposed-weave carbon fiber on the roof panel, roof bow, rocker moldings, front fascia splitter, and the underside of the hood.  The ZR1 has carbon fiber floor panels as well, although not in the exposed-weave format.  For the Corvette Z06, carbon fiber fenders and floor panels come standard with an optional package that includes splitters, rockers and roof panels.

Voss, a former drag racer, confirmed car nut, and incessant tinkerer says his passion for all things automotive fuels his imagination.  “When I’m not at work with my Chevrolet colleagues developing new technologies, I’m at home working on one of my cars in the pole barn,” he said.

Both of these cars, Corvette ZR1 and Porsche 911 Turbo, are the sort of day to day supercars with a price tag that is hefty, but not insanely! So they have a rather big customer base, and many people might be in a dilemma right now deciding which one to buy. Regardless of price and design and quality, one of the most important factors with such cars is of course the speed of the thing. So to realize which one of these fine rides are faster, Motor Trend devised a race between the two. Oh no, we are not going to tell you the result! You should see for yourself.

Not sure how many of you remember the Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya from his days in Formula 1, but he was one of the greatest. He was one of the most offensive drivers with absolutely no fear! Montoya was also one of the fastest, in most of the races he took part he was the one to set the highest speed record. But he left F1 a few years ago, mainly because his wife wanted to live in America, and started his career in Indy and NASCAR. Anyhow, he was recently dropped by at GM’s Milford track where he got to thrash a Corvette ZR1. That’s not something you wanna miss!

Performax International, the importer of Corvette models to Australia, has felt the need to create a RHD version of the fastest Vette ever built so their fellow citizens can fully experience the joys driving this 638 hp American beast! They have spent 300 hours in the workshop to make this car but the result seems to be satisfying and they hope it gets fully approved for registration. The performance is the same as the LHD models.

The fastest roadgoing Chevrolet Corvette ever built, the 320 km/h supercharged ZR1, will be a star attraction at the 22nd National Corvette Convention in Perth over Easter.
The ZR1 will be displayed in right-hand drive form by Australia’s leading Corvette importer Performax International, which expects to receive full Australian Design Rule approval for the car soon, clearing it for sale and registration in all States and Territories.

Performax International undertook around 300 hours’ design and engineering work to build the prototype RHD Corvette in time for the National Corvette Convention, achieving factory-quality levels of fit, finish and derivability.

The work was completed at Performax International’s factory on the Queensland Sunshine Coast early this week before the car was loaded on a truck and transported to Perth.

“America’s own sports car has a wonderful heritage and owner community in Australia and Performax International is delighted to be a part of the 22nd National Corvette Convention with the fabulous ZR1,” Performax International General Manager Glenn Soper said.

“It’s fitting that Corvette club members from around Australia will be the first to see this right-hand drive version in public.”

The Chevy Corvette ZR1 features a supercharged, 6.2 litre GM LS9 motor producing 476 kiloWatts of power and 815 Newtonmetres of torque.

With a low kerb weight of 1510 kg thanks to an aluminium chassis and carbonfibre body panels, the ZR1 claims a power-to-weight ratio better than most of Europe’s fastest supercars, including the Porsche GT2, Ferrari 599 GTB and Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4.
Its top speed is around 320 kmh and 0-100 kmh acceleration time less than four seconds.
The Performax International ZR1 will be on display at the convention headquarters at the Rendezvous Observation City hotel at Scarborough from Good Friday until Easter Monday.

I remember in the past decade, Lingenfelter-tuned Corvettes were among the fastest cars in the world. Now though, they seem to be overshadowed by power-crazed German tuners. But turns out they can still cut it, pretty damn well! To prove their expertise, they recently took one of their 739 hp modified Corvette ZR1s to Maryland International Raceway and managed to set a quarter-mile time of 9 seconds! Just for comparison, Bugatti Veyron does it is in 10.2 seconds!

Karl Geiger did it again! This time he modifies GM’s most powerful production car, the Corvette ZR1 and make a true monster out of it by putting its engine on steroid! It also features a whole new look. They named it the Geiger GTS, maybe because there are not many ZR1-related things remained in it!

Geiger GTS comes with a body kit which to be honest is way more than just a body kit! It’s like one of those unique coach built jobs. At front you get a new bumper with big spoiler lips and a new hood, and at the back a totally modified apron with newly shaped lights, a racing grade diffuser and new end pipes. The side view of the car is also tricked due to the massively flared wheel arches and air ducts. The car features a two tone black and white paint job for excessive sporty feeling!

But the real deal lies under the bonnet where the ZR1′s LS9 carat small block V8 is supercharged to give 710 hp and 910 nm of torque! The effect of this much power on performance is plain to see, 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and an amazing top speed of 342 km/h!

Geiger’s Corvette sits on 19 inch O.Z wheels with 285 tires for front and 20 inches with 345 tires at the back.

Corvette ZR1 has a fame as one of the most affordable supercars, but Geiger does not give a damn about it! A complete GTS package will cost you 175.000 Euros!

Hennessey Performance Engineering is working on a hardened, more powerful, race-prepd Corvette ZR1 for those loyal Vette buyers who want something to take on Porsche 911 GT3 and Dodge Viper ACR! So HPE Z700 with 705 hp is probably the right answer to their problem.

They have followed the simple recipe of making a track-focused car, more power and less weight. The ZR1 has been put on a carbon fiber diet, even seats and wheels are replaced with CF models. It also features an aerokit made from the same material. And to maximize the racing feel, inside you get alcantara-covered  steering wheel and knob.

Hennessey will only make 24 examples of the HPE Z700, each for $207,150 (including the initial car) and they offer a performance driving instruction for the buyers, making sure they can drive it properly! Hennessey will also take one of these Z700 to Germany to take on the Nuburgring. They claim they can set a time of 7:26. We’ll see…

Hennessey’s Z700 performance package starts by upgrading the engine supercharger, exhaust and air induction systems and is dyno tuned to 705 bhp. But this is just the beginning. Additional upgrades include lightweight carbon fiber wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, which reduce rotating weight by nearly 60 lbs. Hennessey’s Z-Aero ™ carbon fiber front splitter, canards and rear spoiler also add over 300 lbs of down force helping to put the added power to the road and track. What you see here is Mark Stielow’s (GM engineer and tuner) idea of a proper Camaro! He took a 1969 Chevy Camaro in its original ‘Butternut Yellow’ color and fitted it with the 638 hp engine of the Corvette ZR1. The braking system and the wheels are also from the Vette but the car uses Viper transmission. It took Mark 20 months to build it and when he finished, he called it: Jackass!!!

DETROIT — You knew it had to happen, eventually. Some enterprising engineer/grease monkey/nut job would take the most absurdly powerful engine General Motors has ever made, the 638-horsepower LS9 from the Corvette ZR1, and slapped it into the best-looking Camaro General Motors has ever made, the 1969.

What we have here, then, is the ultimate Camaro, one that goes by the name Jackass.

The engineer/grease monkey/nut job in this case is General Motors engineer and Pro-Touring car-building legend Mark Stielow. It took Stielow 20 months to create Jackass, and predictably then, Jackass is something more than your average engine-transplant hack job. The fabrication appears first-rate. And lest you think big-motored Camaros are only about ripping though the quarter-mile, consider that Stielow started building first-generation Camaros to compete in Brock Yates’ One Lap of America event. And it’s early Camaros that have built Stielow’s reputation. All have had silly names such as Mule, Thrasher and Red Witch.

So Jackass also gets the wheels, tires and monster carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes from the ZR1. No, those pieces are not technically available to your average car builder. One would need a VIN from a ZR1 to get them out of Service Parts Operation, so get one of those first.

The motor, which Stielow says makes about 511 hp at the rear wheels on a Mustang chassis dyno, sits low in a bolt-on Art Morrison subframe. The transmission is a Tremec T56 transmission from a Viper.

How much does all of this wicked Camaro goodness cost? “Well, I can tell you it’s cheaper to just buy a ZR1,” says Stielow, who since the disbanding of the High Performance Vehicle Group has taken a job as engineering group manager in the hybrid vehicle division.

Oh, and the color? That would be the always-sassy Butternut Yellow, which was a standard GM color option back in 1969.

Stile Bertone Mantide, a car which is a one-off showcase of the Bertone at its absolute best and was revealed at Shanghai Auto Show, will finally see the sun (sort of!) as it’s set for a limited production of 10 units, Jason Castriota confirmed. I said sort of because it will sport a $2 million dollar price tag! So even if you can afford it, it’s not likely to become your daily driver!

After all, the hefty price tag is a part of the recipe for a super special edition. And as Jason points out they have already seen some interest from customers in Asia, Europe and America. And just think about seeing this car with its radical shape passing by your street! It’ll be the biggest WOW of all times!

The car is built upon the structure of  the Corvette ZR1 so it has the power to match its amazing looks. It’s capable of 638 hp and can hit the top speed of 217 mph. Since it was unveiled there has been some beef about its shape, some say it doesn’t have the finesse of a pure Italian design, some call it ugly. It’s a matter of taste really, but you can consider it as an artwork, something like a modern art statue, only with a big V8 in it! Then it makes sense to pay its price it you really desire it.

So, you can either have two used Bugatti Veyrons or get yourself one of these, your choice!

Who might get a 552 horsepower Cadillac CTS-V and say: Damn, it ain’t fast enough! Well, guys of Hennessey Performance do! And they realize some of you out there might be just as nuts so they offer four levels of engine tuning for this small block LSA ranging from 610 to 800 hp! To achieve this figures they rip the  standard engine apart and then throw almost all of the parts away! replacing them with performance parts.

Some of changes include adding a new cold air intake system, sport stainless steel exhaust headers , high flow manifolds, totally modified cylinderhead to house a new camshaft and the Eaton supercharger with a big intercooler and of course ECU remapping. What Hennessey has done to the engine shows its great capabilities. It’s amazing how flexible is this LSA carat. Future sports cars by GM should have no worries about the engine,at least!

Stile Bertone project M is finally revealed at the Shanghai Auto show. The M stands for Mantide, but you might as well read it Marvelous, Magnificent, Masterpiece … This one-off car is a unique mixture of Italian design and a big American engine. The outcome is ought to be incredible!

Although in today’s world of economic turmoils and environment nonsense , it seems awkward to spend million of dollars on a one-off 638 horsepower supercar but the Mantide has already secured a page in the history of automotive for itself. Bertone Mantide is the car equivalent of a modern art masterpiece. Specially at the back where it goes berserk! And it’s not just about the looks, it has drag coefficincy of 0.298 and produces 30% more downforce than the original Corvette ZR1.

When you have the supercharged LS9 engine under the bonnet, you know this is a seriously fast car before you even check on the numbers! 0 to 60 in 3.2 and top speed of just over 217 mph (350kph) which are superior to the ZR1′s performance because of the car’s advanced aerodynamics.

It’s all very brilliant, but with cars like this, you only have to focus on the amazing design! Forget about performance and aerodynamics, you shouldn’t drive this car! You should put in your house as a statue! It’s an artwork.

Of course it’s the first car in the middle east , but I suspect if it’s the first one for sale in the world! apart from that one which has been auctioned recently in the US. When it comes to Chevrolet Corvette tuning, Callaway is always one of the best names in business. Their latest creation with 580hp based on Corvette C6 fills the gap between the normal 500hp C6 and 630hp ZR1. However the Callaway is capable of 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and top speed pf 204 mph, which is in the ZR1 territory, but comes for a very reasonable price. The package costs only $18,900 of course plus a Corvette C6! And is still much cheaper than ZR1′s 100 grand price tag. The engine in this Callaway is a LS3 6.2 liter V8 which is fitted with a Eaton supercharger, intercooler, high flow injectors and modified air intake system. The result is 580 hp and 265 pound-feet of torque. The car comes with a  three-year/36,000-mile warranty. If  it is not enough for you Callaway offers another package, the C16 with 650hp.

With optional 15 inch carbon brakes from the stunning new Corvette ZR1, light weight HRE wheels with Michelin PS2 tires and full suspension upgrades the HPE700 Camaro will be able to make full use of its new found power.

In addition to the power and handling upgrades., Hennessey will also be offering an exterior aerodynamics package to improve downforce at high speed. Penned by British designer, Steve Everitt, Hennessey’s Cam-Aero ™ body upgrades include: Carbon fiber rear lip spoiler, carbon fiber side rocker panels, carbon fiber front splitter, front fascia with hideaway-look headlights and front billet grille. Completing the look of the HPE700 is a ZR1 inspired hood design with window showing off the Hennessey’s tweaked LS9 powerplant.

“The HPE700 Camaro allows our customers to combine supercar power and performance with classic American muscle car looks in a modern, daily-drive usable sportscar with a backseat and a trunk!,” said John Hennessey, President and CEO of Hennessey Performance Engineering. “We will be announcing other Hennessey turnkey vehicle packages for the 2010 Camaro in the near future along with an extensive list of aftermarket performance parts and accessories. But for now, the LS9-powered HPE700 Camaro, replete with ZR1 inspired looks and performance promises to be at the top of the American muscle car food chain later in 2009.

HPE700 buyers will also receive a 1-day performance driving course at Lonestar Motorsports Park – a ¼ mile dragstrip facility located adjacent to Hennessey’s 24,000 square foot production facility and showroom.

Hennessey is offering the first HPE700 Camaros exclusively to registered bidders at the 2009 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ. Orders can be placed at the Hennessey display at the show or by phone or email beginning Tuesday, January 13 through Sunday, January 18, 2009. On Monday, January 19, 2009 the HPE700 Camaro will be available to the general public and can be ordered from select Chevrolet dealers as well as directly from Hennessey Performance Engineering.

Base price for the 2010 HPE700 Camaro is $109,500.

Located just west of Houston Texas at the Lonestar Motorsports Park complex, HPE has been building American supercars for nearly two decades with its Veyron-beating Venom Vipers, Ford GT’s and recently released Dodge Challengers.
