In response to the positive feedback Nissan received fro the Juke-R’s Dubai street race, part of the car’s promotional program at this year’s Dubai 24 Hours race, they released an official video of the event. In this challenge Nissan Juke-R takes on three of world’s greatest supercars, and beats them. I know, it might staged and all, but we are baffled by the way that crossover takes off and gathers speed. This is really something for Nissan’s British engineers to be proud of!

The amazing Nissan Juke-R is in Dubai for a press event, and while being there it entered a friendly race with a Lamborghini LP560, a Mercedes SLS and a Ferrari 458. Granted, the other cars are not being driven very seriously, but still, the way that fat ugly crossover takes off and accelerates boggles the mind. It goes like a stabbed rat! The Juke-R, as you, know is powered by a 480bhp version of Nissan GTR’s V6 turbocharged engine.

Catching fire spontaneously for no obvious reason is one of the main characteristics of any proper super car.  Or rather it used to be in the good old days. These days super cars are as safe as hatchbacks, both to drive and to live with. Ferrari though has proved many many times in recent years they are still fully-fledged super cars by catching fire all on their own! The most recent example is a 599 that burned to the ground recently in Dubai while sitting at a traffic light.

In its first appearance in the Middle East at Dubai Motor Show Shelby Supercars sold 10 units of its million dollar Tuatara hyper car.

The exact price of this amazing machine is $1.3 million apiece, so this trip to Dubai earned SSC a healthy sum of $13 million. Not bad for a five-day event, especially as the car still doesn’t exist as such and is actually in pre-production mode!

The Gulf region, and UAE in particular, is one of the few places in the world where economy downturn and stuff like that mean nothing to people. The supercar market is always hot in this region. They particularly like shiny and flashy cars and that last thing they care about is the price tag. Actually, given the Tuatara’s fancy jet fighter-kinda looks, the buyers must have thought it’s such a bargain at $1.3 mil.

SSC founder Jerod Shelby commented: “This has been a huge show for us – we’ve sold ten cars, which is phenomenal. Our expectation was nothing more than to create awareness of the brand in this region and find a distributor, but this has been amazing. The business has been outstanding.”

Brabus 800 Coupe is the latest overpowered monster by the German firm based on the Mercedes CL.

Brabus show cars are usually black, but this one is white because it was unveiled at the Dubai Motor Show and kinda designed for that region. And they love white cars.

This super-lux coupe gets a nicely designed new aero kit which makes the car look stronger by giving it a massive chin, taller skirts, and a neat rear diffuser. It’s a very elegant car, but because of the fury under its bonnet, it is also naughty at the same time.

This CL gets the latest Brabus 800 V12 Biturbo with 800 PS and a volcanic 1420 nm of torque. Obviously with that kind of ridiculous power it’s going to be fast. Properly fast.

Zero to 100 km/h in this car takes 3.9 seconds. Zero to 200 km/h takes 10.3 seconds. And if you keep your foot buried into the footwell it’ll eventually reach 350 km/h top speed.

Brabus has done its usual structural work to keep this thing under control at high speed. They include lowering the car by 25 mm, using massive 21-inch Monoblock VI wheels with 265/30 ZR 21 and 295/25 ZR 21 tires, and massive brake discs and calipers.

The interior for this particular car is garnished with leather and Acantara in contrasting black and white, and carbon fiber trims. It’s lovely.

Bugatti is paying tribute to one of its biggest markets, Middle East, with three special Grand Sport ME versions.

Unveiled at the the Dubai International Motor Show these models come in yellow, green and blue.

The yellow one has a unique two-tone paint job with a bright yellow body and a underside in visible black carbon, including black-tinted wheels. Same theme continues inside with seats finished in yellow-colored leather with black stitching. The middle console is in black carbon, while the dashboard, steering wheel and gearshift are encased in black leather with yellow stitching.

It kinda reminds us of Bijan Pakzad’s Bugatti. The price for this baby is 1.58 million euro.

Then we have the blue one with a two-tone horizontal colour split consisting of visible blue carbon, framed in polished, anodised aluminium, and aluminium polished and Diamond Cut two-tone finish for wheels. Interior features include tangerine leather, door panels, dashboard, steering wheel and console covered in dark blue Indigo leather or exposed blue carbon fibre, with tangerine stitching on the steering wheel and gearshift knob.

This one will set you back 1.74 million euro.

The last member of the trio is a bit more special. It features a newly developed green carbon fibre tone with polished aluminium. The rims, the exterior rearview mirrors and even the EB-logo at the rear are of polished aluminium. Inside the sominant color is een and silver to match the exterior.

It too is 1.74 million euro.

If you want one of these you better hustle because we suspect all three will be sold by midnight!

Chevrolet unveiled today the all-new TrailBlazer SUV at Dubai International Motor Show in the Middle East.

The Blazer makes a comeback with a trendy new design, bold and imposing. It is a pretty sizable thing, but it’s not as big as the Blazers of the olden days. In fact nothing is as big as the old Blazers!

The new car is based on the same platform as Chevy Colorado pickup truck and is a global product. It will be sold around the world, beginning with Thailand in early 2012.

The modern look of the 2013 Blazer is a result of a bold new grille and many many LEDs used in front and rear. Inside the cabin you get that in form of a flowing instrument panel, integrated center stack, and signature Chevrolet dual cockpit design. It is of course a seven-seat car with three-row tumble and/or fold-flat seat versatility and best-in-class spaciousness in the third row.

It also has an overhead console that integrates the HVAC system with onboard infotainment. Other features include a dual-zone, digital climate control system and the latest in infotainment technology.

The show car has an all-wheel-drive system and is powered by GM’s new 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine. But by the time it reaches the market more options will be added.

German tuning giant Brabus has always had a great presence in UAE market, but only now they are ready to launch their Middle East Branch in Dubai.

The new facility on Sheikh Zayed Road where most of the car dealers are located, not only sells cars imported right from Brabus HQ in Germany, it also provides customers with bespoke programs, upholstery, parts and components and accessories. It’s like a scaled-down version of the HQ with workshop and everything to support the entire Arab world with BRABUS tuning components.

The 3,000 m2 site includes a showroom that currently includes the BRABUS 700 Biturbo WIDESTAR, the ultimate evolution of the Mercedes SLS gullwing, and the tuning versions of the Mercedes SUVs. The spectrum ranges from customized G-, GL-, GLK- and M-Class models to the BRABUS 800 WIDESTAR. Dubai is having its very own 24-hour race for a couple of years now and this year it’s going to be bigger than ever. One sign of it is the presence of three Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 racers which alone can bring in a lot of spectators! This even is the last test run for the SLS GT3 and marks the completion of the development programme for the racing version of the car before the deliveries start in February 2011. The three cars are being entered by the customer teams Black Falcon and Heico Motorsport.

The 24-hour race on the 5.39-kilometre Grand Prix circuit of the Dubai Autodrome is being held for the sixth time in 2011. Around 90 cars are expected to take part, with drivers and teams from more than 30 countries registering for this long-distance race.

One victory and one third place in the autumn 2010 VLN races

As part of the development and test programme that started in June 2010, the customer sport version of the gull-wing was entered in three VLN races (VLN = Association of Nürburgring Endurance Cup Organisers) in autumn 2010. The ninth VLN race was won by Thomas Jäger and Christopher Haase in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 entered by Black Falcon, and in the tenth race Bernd Schneider and Christian Mamerow (Mamerow Racing team) achieved third place overall.

Bernd Schneider and Thomas Jäger have absolved the entire development and test programme for the SLS AMG GT3. With five championship titles in the DTM, one in the ITC and one in the FIA GT Championship, Bernd Schneider is one of Germany’s most successful racing drivers. Jäger was a DTM driver for Mercedes-Benz from 2000 to 2003. Last year he won the championship title in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, and in 2010 he took part in the ADAC GT Masters (Germany). Like Bernd Schneider, Thomas Jäger is a member of the instructor team at the AMG Driving Academy. Since 1 October 2010, Jäger has also acted as a coordinator for the AMG customer sport department. As the central point of contact, he supports the customer teams in all organizational and technical matters.

Deliveries commencing from end February 2011 after FIA homologation

Production of cars intended for customers began at the end of December. After homologation and definition of the “Balance of Performance” by the FIA, deliveries of the SLS AMG GT3 will commence at the end of February 2011. The selling price is € 334,000 (excl. VAT)/€ 397,460 (incl. 19 % VAT).

SLS AMG GT3 integrated into AMG Driving Academy from 2011

In the coming year, customers of the AMG Driving Academy will be able to drive the SLS AMG GT3 on the racetrack themselves during selected events. The programme for 2011 envisages that only SLS AMG GT3 cars will be used for the “Masters” level, the most demanding level in terms of driving skills. With these unique events, the AMG Driving Academy will be offering a motor racing experience at first hand, and at a previously unattained safety level, from 2011.

Back in August German tuning firm A-R-T released a one-off model based on the G55 AMG called AS55K YAAS EDITION, for the crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. Now just in time for Dubai Motor Show, ART is introducing a car based on that unique model which is available to public. It is called the G-Streetline and it appears to be a discount version of the AS55!

Even if you don’t look at the badges, you can say it’s a work of ART because of that bodykit the Glandewagen is wearing. The Streetline features modified bumpers with big air air intakes and lots of new lamps at the front! You get newly shaped LED daytime running lights and six Xenon fog lights. There’s also new and wider fenders accompanied by new side steps, which are also illuminated by LEDs.

The regular G55 AMG has a really cool feature and that’s the placement of exhaust pipes in front of the rear wheels. Now to boost this even further, ART has increased the number of chrome plated tips by one on each side! It is also fitted with 22-inch 10-spoke ART mono light alloy wheels. The only negative in this kit should be that stupid wing on the roof which is ugly and useless.

The interior of the G-Streetline is a sea of red Nappa leather. You see this material everywhere you look, on the steering wheel, seats, dashboard, pillars, roof, gear knob, door handles… and that’s fine unless you hate red. Then you’d have serious problems with this car! It also has one seat less than the standard car because it’s replaced by a mini bar.

Of course ART couldn’t let this royal car go without giving it some serious power. So they got busy with the brilliant 5.5 liter supercharged engine and increased the power from 507 to 610hp and the torque from 700 to 800 nm. So the big G can accelerate form zero to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and while the standard G55 is limited to 210, it goes as fast as 260 km/h. They don’t offer this feature in Germany though, it’s just for the the export.

So there you go, if you are a teacher, engineer, plumber,… anything but a Prince, and still want an exclusive ART G55, here’s your car!

At 2009 Dubai Motor Show, Kepler Motors (never heard of them? we neither!) revealed a phenomenon which can be considered as the future of supercars. It is a hybrid but don’t let that word fool you, because they actually made it a hybrid to make it more powerful! It has a combined power of 800 hp and it’s mind-bogglingly fast!

The MOTION’s hybrid powertrain consists of a 550 hp Ford Eco-Boost twin-turbo 3.5 liter V6 which turns the rear wheels. The front wheels have their power unit which is a 250 hp electric motor. So with 800 hp Kepler claims that this car can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in under 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of way over 200 mph. Now that’s the kind of hybrid we quite like!

The Kepler MOTION is really an engineering marvel. They have developed a new all-wheel drive system called Dual Powertrain Technology (DPT) specially for this car and also equipped it with the latest technologies such as active suspension, active aerodynamics, launch control and programmable track assistant system.

The car also has a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and body, highly impact-resistant structure and a two-seat cabin which is said to have enough space for drivers of above average size! It also uses StopTech’s new Continuous Carbon Ceramic (C3) AeroRotors on all four wheels for the maximum stopping power.

Kepler MOTION supercar is limited to only 50 hand-assembled units which will hit the roads from in 2011. There’s no mention of pricing yet, but since they’ve come all the way to Dubai to unveil the car, you can tell it is pretty high!

As one of the world’s biggest markets for hyper cars, Middle East will get the new Arash AF-10 supercar in early 2010. Dubai-based luxury car company Ultimate Motors has been appointed as the exclusive dealer of the British brand in the ME, and will offer this limited edition car for $580,000! Which seems a bit to high, considering that it’s almost twice as much as a Lamborghini Murcielago SV which is more powerful. But it’s a good choice for those who want to be unique!

Mercedes’ second surprise for Gulf people attending the 2009 Dubai Motor Show is this limited edition G55 AMG which is exclusive to the Middle East region and won’t be sold anywhere else. The reason it’s called Edition 79 is because the Gelandewagen’s sales started in 1979 and this car is also limited to only 79 units.

Mercedes G-Class is hugely popular in the Middle East. The ruler of Dubai himself uses this car as his daily driver. But the G-Wagen’s ties with ME are much stronger than that. You see back in the 70s, the late Shah of Iran asked Mercedes to design a tough military vehicle for him as a part of his plans to modernize his army. Mercedes did it, but then Iranian revolution made the Shah to leave the country so the vehicles were never delivered! On that basis, Mercedes decided to sell this car to civilians!

Anyway, back to the G55 AMG Edition 79. This car comes in a special matt color called “designo magno alanite grey”, Mercedes already offers this car for the SLS AMG supercar. This special edition has a number of differences than the standard G55 including a crash bar at the front, carbon-look side trim strips, 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a titanium finish and chromed protective grilles for the front indicators, tail lights and the underguard.

As for the interior, you get designo leather seats in black/sand, high-quality, solid carbon-fibre trim and the Edition logo “1 out of 79″ positioned in front of the selector lever.

It is not likely that you can actually get one of these, because as mentioned earlier it is very popular among UAE royal family, and they are way more than 79!

So the first special edition of the 2010 Mercedes SLS AMG goes to Dubai, UAE where the market for such cars is huge! Finished in a matt gold paintjob, it is named the Desert Gold. Mercedes knows that people here like bling bling, hell a lot of people have had their cars foiled in gold! So they decided to use it to their advantage and give them this feature as standard, but in a more classy package.

You have to say though, it looks stunning in this color, specially with those gloss black parts which have replaced all of the chrome and silver ones. They have also used black-painted AMG light-alloy wheels in size 9.5 x 19 at the front and 11.0 x 20 at the rear. Furthermore  Mercedes star and the trim strip on the cross fin at the front, the fins on the bonnet and flanks, the filler cap or all the model plates are done in high-gloss black as the distinctive feature of this car.

The interior too has a black theme to cope with the rest of the car. SLS’ console is garnished with naked carbon fiber, and you will find a lot of carbon inserts everywhere you look inside the cabin. The seats are also covered in high quality black leather as well as the steering wheel and the dashboard.

The engine of SLS AMG Desert Gold remains unchanged, which means it gets a 6.3 liter V8 with 571hp, but there is a new carbon fiber engine compartment cover here. Although Mercedes say that this is only a show car for the time being, but rest assured it will soon be available in Dubai’s luxury car dealerships with a fatter price tag than regular SLS.

United Arab Emirates is one of the biggest markets for Ferrari cars, and the people there are passionate for the Prancing Horse. That’s why they got to have the world’s first Ferrari Park in the capital. And now they are getting the world’s largest Ferrari store as well in the magical city of Dubai. Kimi Raikkonen and Giancarlo Fisichella were present at the opening ceremony along with Aldar Properties officials as the main investors. There is also a Ferrari parade planned  for today starting from Dubai going through Abu Dhabi to the YAS Marina Circuit.

Dubai, October 28th 2009 – Ferrari will be again protagonist in the Emirates in the run-up to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix week-end, and the last race of the F1 season. The world’s largest Ferrari Store was officially inaugurated today in Dubai, with more than 1,000 square metres of single-storey floor space entirely devoted to the Prancing Horse. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was hosted by Ferrari drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Giancarlo Fisichella, together with Shafqat Malik, CFO Aldar Properties and Chairman of Fadar Retail, and Edwin Fenech, General Manager Ferrari Middle East & Africa. The Ferrari drivers also performed the now-traditional signing of the store counter. A Ferrari California showcased in the front windows, and right outside the new Ferrari Store, a selection of both new and classic cars was displayed.

On Friday there will be an impressive parade of Ferrari cars that will start from Dubai, go to Abu Dhabi through Corniche and end at the Yas Marina F1 circuit. The parade will include nearly 100 historic Prancing Horse models and will be opened by a number of new Ferrari Californias.

This event has been organised in collaboration with Al Tayer, the official Ferrari dealer in UAE and the local Ferrari Owners’ Club.

Located in the prestigious Dubai Festival City Centre, the new Ferrari Store was developed entirely by the Studio Iosa Ghini and is as much a homage to the history and spirit of Ferrari’s twin souls of racing and luxury as a straightforward retail outlet. Each area of the Store has thus been carefully designed as a special, once-off space in which shoppers can truly embrace the Ferrari experience.

The Dubai Store will stock a wide selection from the entire range of Prancing Horse products for enthusiasts and fans of the GT cars and Formula 1 tifosi alike. In addition to the display areas, there will also be a lounge, meeting rooms, video projection room and a Photo Gallery with a specially designed lighting system that can host photographic exhibitions. There will also be a fan interaction area, in which tifosi can test their skills on virtual versions of several different F1 circuits. Dubai is the 29th Ferrari Store and joins others in prestigious locations such as Rome and Milan (Italy), London (UK), Barcelona (Spain), San Francisco and Miami (USA), and Macao (China), as well, of course, as Abu Dhabi, where we opened in 2007. The Ferrari Store development programme includes plans for the next openings in Jeddah and Bahrain, and bringing the number of retail locations to 50 over the next two years in Europe, America, and the Middle and Far East. So the car that we knew as the VG or KND-5 concept is officially named Cadenza and will debut in production form at this years Dubai Motor Show. Kia says that the Cadenza is designed to satisfy drivers’ desire for refinement, safety and emotional satisfaction! Of course it’s not a groundbreaking car, it just features a charming design and a 4I and a V6 engine. But the reason that everyone is excited about it is the badge!

Kia has already started a whole new level of refinement with cars like this or the new Soul. Also the Cadenza feels so much better when you notice that it will replace the Optima/Amanti! It looks like a Mercedes in comparison to its fugly predecessor!

Apparently the car will get its first round of premiers at in the middle east, as it will be shown in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait too, before the end of the year. The European version might also come with different equipments and trimming. Stay tuned for more details on 2010 Kia Cadenza.

Today General Motors announced in a press release their lineup for this years Dubai Motor Show. Middle East and particularly GCC countries were some of the fewest markets that GM sales didn’t dropped significantly during the economic turmoil, so apparently the company is going to take this region more seriously!. Along with their latest concept cars, GM will also launch some of the 2010 production models during the show.

But the star of GM’s stand would be the eagerly awaited Cadillac CTS coupe ,featuring a dramatic shape which is actually a new niche in car design! The car will make its way to production with more or less the same body, so it’s gonna be one of hottest yet-to-be-released cars of next year.

The Americans will also bring the new extended range Volt concept, along with the 2011 Spark, a funky five-door, and the highly anticipated Corvette Stingray Concept.This Corvette is the car we can’t wait to take a look at! The regional launches include the new Cruze, Malibu, SRX crossover, the Camaro, Hummer H3 V8, and the Yukon Denali and Sierra Denali from GMC.

Apparently the new generation of Mercedes CLS is under hot-weather testing as it’s been scooped in Dubai at this time of year when the weather is really really hot there! The car has been caught by a member of Gulf4cars forums at Jebel Ali Free Zone. It’s due to arrive in 2011 and is doing well in terms of technical developments, but as you notice from the typical Mercedes camouflage, the design is not finished yet.

2011 CLS is one of the most anticipated cars to be launched and given the success of the current model, expectations are pretty high!

As Ford is introducing the new Shelby GT500 Super Snake based on the 2010 Ford Mustang, a tuner in Dubai called Chrome & Carbon, picked an old Snake and did to it what they do a lot in the middle east these days. Yep, you guessed it! We believe that chrome paint jobs are generally horrible because they are too flashy and embarrassing, but we quit liked this one. World’s sickest hotel, the Burj Al Arab of Dubai has just received another four Bespoke 2009 Rolls Royce Phantoms pushing their fleet of Rollers to ten. The cars feature Grecian key marquetry applied to the wood veneer and engraved Burj Al Arab logos onto the headrests, and they are all in Arab’s favourite color pearl white!

Inspiration for the new models was derived from the character and culture of Burj Al Arab itself, capturing the precise individual detailing reflective of the hotel’s spirit and status. The resulting interior boasts Grecian key marquetry applied to the wood veneer, with the distinctive Burj al Arab logo embroidered into the leather headrests. The colour scheme and the marquetry combine to represent the magnificence and tranquillity of the hotel.

The handover of the Phantoms was attended by Peter Schoppmann, Regional Director of Rolls-Royce for the Middle East, and Stathis I. Stathis, representing AGMC, the sole dealer of the brand in Dubai and Sharjah. Schoppmann said “The Burj al Arab stands for the ultimate in luxury and has become a globally recognised landmark. As such we are delighted to have strengthened our relationship with this iconic destination.”
