The new Hyundai Elantra Coupe is finally unveiled at 2012 Chicago Autoshow, setting its sights on Honda Civic Coupe and Kia Forte Koup.

Basically a two-door version of the sedan, the Elantra Coupe is designed to attract younger buyers who want an affordable sportish sort of car. Kia did that with the Koup, which was hugely successful.

It has an alright design for what it is, but it’s not as youth-oriented as Hyundai says. They’ve been too worried about interior space and economy and stuff. That’s grown up stuff! Youths would gladly trade those for a more sleek design.

The Elantra Coupe is powered by the same 1.8-liter Nu four-cylinder engine with 148 horsepower (estimated) and 131 lb-ft of torque (estimated) found in the Elantra sedan and GT hatchback.

The car’s fuel economy is estimated at 29 mpg city, 40 mpg highway for the six-speed manual transmission, and 28 mpg city, 39 mpg highway for the six-speed automatic transmission. These ratings give Elantra Coupe a highway-only driving range of up to 500 miles.

The interior has a particularly nice design and is sort of like the Genesis Coupe. It’s got all the premium features, such as proximity key with push-button start, leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, power sunroof, and dual automatic temperature control with Clean Air Ionizer and auto-defogger, and you also get a Navigation with high-resolution 7.0-inch screen and voice-activation by headliner-mounted microphone (optional).

Hyundai wants reminds you that they offer XM Satellite Radio interface integrated into the navigation, which comes with a rear-view camera, and that cannot be found on the Honda Civic Coupe or Kia Koup.

The coupe is also pretty much loaded with safety features. It gets six airbags—including dual front, front seat-mounted side-impact, and front and rear side curtain airbag, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and the Motor-Driven electric Power Steering (MDPS), and…

What you and I know as the i30 in Europe, will go on sale in America as the Hyundai Elantra GT.

Unveiled at 2012 Chicago Autoshow, this hatchback complements the Elantra’s range of sedan and coupe. Unless you indiscriminately hate Hyundai’s fluidic Sculpture design philosophy, you have to say this hatchback is such a looker.

In America the car will only be available with the 1.8 liter Nu four-cylinder engine with 148 horsepower and 131 lb-ft of torque. Hyundai would claim 40mpg for it, but staying on the safe side they say it will do 28 mpg city, 39 mpg highway and 32 combined.

The 2013 Elantra GT can be equipped with a six-speed manual (M6CF3-1) or automatic (A6GF1) transaxle with SHIFTRONIC manual control. Hyundai Elantra GT’s six-speed manual transmission.

The interior space beats most of the competition, and so does the features list. You get the latest Hyundai Blue touchscreen infotainment system, as well as dual zone climate control, and a number of premium equipments including:

• Standard cooled glove box
• Standard heated front seats
• 10-way power driver’s seat including power lumbar support
• Clean Air Ionizer
• Leather seating surfaces
• Automatic headlights
• Side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators
• Standard steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls
• Standard Bluetooth hands-free system with voice recognition

As for safety, the car comes as standard with ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ABS (anti-lock braking system) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist and VSM (Vehicle Stability Management). In terms of passive safety, the Elantra GT will be fitted with seven airbags as standard – front, side and curtain including an Elantra-first driver’s knee airbag. So Top Safety Pick award should be in the bag.

The new GT does not have the weaknesses of the old model in terms of styling which put it below its main rivals, Ford Focus, Mazda3 and Volkswagen Golf. We just have to wait and see if it drives as well as the aforementioned models. Mazda3 is the benchmark of handling in this class, so the Hyundai has to beat that  if it wants the crown of this segment.

Hyundai is not yet done with Super Bowl ad frenzy and released a couple more commercials, one of them for the Genesis Spec-R sedan. This is a car Hyundai is genuinely proud of. A 430hp sports (well, sort of) sedan that matches the performance of Porsche Panamera S. It’s one of those bang for the buck kind of cars. Hyundai is using the opportunity that Super Bowl XLVI brings to publicize their most important new cars. We saw their Genesis Coupe ad, and here’s the one they made for the Veloster Turbo. This to be honest is not as good as the Genesis ad. It’s not even as good as their Rocky-themed commercial. They could have done this better.

Hyundai’s rather brilliant Rocky commercial is not their only ad for the Super Bowl XLVI. Here’s what they’ve come up with for the new Genesis Coupe. It puts the spotlight on the car’s Heart Pounding Power, literally! After all, it has 348 horsepower should be enough to bring a dead guy back to life.

Hyundai’s 2012 Super Bowl ad is not the funniest or cleverest commercial we’ve seen this year, but it’s one of the most inspiring. It’s about the company’s never-give-up attitude, and they deliver the message using the theme song from Rocky. It only needs Rocky Balboa in there giving one of his pep talks beginning with ‘lemme tell you something you already know’. Then it would be perfect!

Now this is how cool guys play golf. I mean someone like Rhys Millen can’t use something slow and dreary as a golf cart around the course, he needs something much faster. Something preferably turbocharged, and fast on any kind of terrain. Hyundai Veloster rally car then, sounds like the perfect tool for the job. The first revealing pictures of the new generation Hyundai Santa Fe leak to the web ahead of the car’s debut at New York Auto Show.

These pictures, which appear to be taken inside the factory, clearly shows the main features of the new Santa Fe’s (ix45) design. Some of it are familiar, such as the side profile which is similar to the ix55, but most of it is new.

The Santa fe gets the same signature hexagonal grille as the rest of Hyundai’s range , but with bolder chrome bars to give it a more muscular look. The shape of the front bumper with the LEDs and underbody protection parts are also very interesting.

The new headlights look similar to that of the new Genesis Coupe and Veloster, but then it’s the common look of all new Hyundais. We particularly like the taillights, and the dual exhausts. They are just so nice!

All in all, the new Santa Fe has a much better design that the car it replaces. Hopefully, improvements are more than skin deep, not that the current Santa is a bad SUV, but there’s room improvement, especially in terms of fuel economy.

Hyundai revealed official pricing of the all-new i30 hatchback for the British market, and it starts at £14,495.

That’s for the entry level Classic model. You want a fully-loaded top of the version, you have to pay £20,795. The new i30 has become a premium hatchback after all.

The 2013 model, due for launch on 12 March, builds on the success of its predecessor which enjoyed an enormous success around the world as a reasonably priced, well-equipped family car. The new one is improved in every single aspect, especially the looks which was the old model’s Achilles heel. The interior design is significantly improved as well.

The new generation Hyundai i30 will be available in four main trim levels including Classic, Active, Style and Style Nav, while customers will also have the choice of either petrol or diesel engines – including Hyundai’s latest ultra-efficient 1.6-litre diesel unit that emits less than 100g/km CO₂ – there will be five engine outputs on offer with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions. Hyundai’s clean and efficient Blue Drive technologies come on all 1.6 CRDi manual models as standard and feature Intelligent Stop & Go Technology. The powerful, yet efficient unit is available in outputs of 110PS and 128PS. These are the most expensive models.

As for the features, the standard kit includes voice-activated Bluetooth®, LED daytime running lights, multi-function steering wheel, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors and one-touch indicators. Safety systems added as standard across the range include Vehicle Stability Management, Emergency Stop Signal and Hill-start Assist Control. Active trim level, adds 15” alloys, cruise control, rear parking sensors and Hyundai’s new dynamic Flex Steer^TM system, which gives the driver the option of three settings namely: Comfort, Normal and Sport.

Without a doubt, the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe is one of the hottest cars of this year’s Detroit Motor Show. This very reasonably priced sports car gets a whole new face in the 2013 model, along with a significant power upgrade for both its engines. The four-pot turbo is boosted to 270 hp now, and the 3.8 liter V6, well that makes 350 hp. Hyundai claims a 0 to 60mph sprint time in the low five-second range for the latter. Both can be had with a new 8-speed transmission.

The new 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe gets makes its official public debut at Detroit Motor Show, featuring more power, new features, and a heavily revised face.

The facelifted Genesis Coupe comes with new headlights inspired by its baby brother, the Veloster. It also gets the same wide mouth we  are now seeing on all the latest Hyundai models, and the new signature grille. The rest of the car remains pretty much the same as before, only the tail lights now have a cooler graphic.

Changes are far more deep under the skin, where the fantastic 3.8 liter V6 engine has been tuned to gain 42 horsepower (a generous 14 percent increase) and 29 lb.-ft of torque (an eleven percent increase). That adds up to a total output of 348 hp and 295 lb.-ft. at 5,300 RPM on premium fuel. Hyundai says it’ll do 0 to 60mph in about five seconds.

Although the whole point of buying the Genesis Coupe is to get that V6 engine, Hyundai also offers a turbocharged, intercooled 2.0-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder, now with 274 horsepower (a massive 30 percent increase) and 275 lb.-ft. of torque (an impressive 23 percent increase). It will much more fuel efficient than the V6, and also considerably slower.

Both engines can be had with an 8-speed transmission. The car also gets sport tuned suspension with MacPherson strut dual-link front suspension and a five-link rear suspension setup.The front suspension is mounted to the body via a solid subframe that is lighter and stronger than a comparable multi-piece component would be. To help reduce body roll and tune the Genesis Coupe’s at-the-limit handling for maximum predictability, 23-mm diameter front and 19-mm diameter rear stabilizer bars are fitted.

It also gets the same Brembo braking system as before.

The 2013 Genesis Coupe interior has been enhanced with distinctive, upscale features and design cues. The instrument panel crash pad features a stitched-seam appearance for a distinctly upscale look, and the parking brake lever is leather-wrapped on leather-equipped models. The instrument cluster now features an electroluminescent gauge cluster for premium ambience and superior readability. A new driver-side rear seat walk-in assist function has been added for more convenient rear seat access from the driver’s side. Convenient seatbelt assist guides make it easier for front passengers to buckle up.

The hotly anticipated turbocharged Hyundai Veloster finally becomes official at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show.

This weird but kinda cool coupe has the same 1.6 liter four-cylinder as in the normal Velosters, but it’s of course been fitted with a twin-scroll turbocharger. That means a total output of 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.

Granted, 201 isn’t much, but compared to the 138 hp output of the standard car it is much appreciated. Hyundai offers two great transmissions for the Veloster turbo: a proper manual or a dual-clutch, both with six speeds in them.

They have also tuned the exhausts a bit, making them more tuneful, adding a bit of drama and excitement. Visually you get the 18-inch wheels, sporty grille, side skirts, rear diffuser with a twin central exhausts. The best visual feature however is this matte gray paint job you see on this car which is a production color, not a special treatment.

Pricing and performance figures of the new Hyundai Veloster Turbo are yet to be confirmed.

The 2012 Detroit Motor Show marks the debut of the new Genesis Coupe. Hyundai has come up with a teaser trailer to remind us of this occasion. Although they’ve already dropped the car’s official pictures and detail and revealed it in full, the trailer doesn’t show the car in full, which is kinda odd. New stuff on the 2013 Geni Coupe include a whole new face with bumper, grille and headlights all redesigned, a cool-boy vented bonnet, new interior design, and 50 more horsepower for its highly acclaimed 3.8 liter V6 engine.

The Hexa Space, or HND-7, is Hyundai’s idea of a relevant concept car for Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi.

This conceptual multi-purpose vehicle revolutionizes the use of interior space, according to Hyundai, featuring eight slim, hexagonally shaped seats.

It is actually quite clever this system, as the seats move about and fit together like puzzle pieces, maximizing internal space while minimizing vehicle width. It is only logical since hexagon is known as an optimum shape for space efficiency. Good thinking there Hyundai.

This is, to all intents and purposes, a perfect car for India. It is a compact vehicle (4,300 mm long, 1,820 mm wide and 1,647 mm high) which means it suits India’s chaotic street and roads, and it has eight seats which means they can fit at least 16 people in there! That is the Indian way.

Engine-wise, Hexa Space is powered by Hyundai’s Kappa 1.2-liter turbo GDI engine, which is mated to a six-speed automatic. The car’s designed based on Hyundai’s characteristic “Fluidic Sculpture” design language and sits on 19-inch wheels. Siding doors at each sides make it easy getting in and out of the vehicle.

Hexa Space’s interior is completed with high-tech features, including a touch-screen center console, a push-button shifter and a cluster ionizer air purifier. Several storage spaces are tucked throughout the interior.

No production plans have been announced yet.

Hyundai is reportedly toying with the idea of a hotted-up i30 hatchback, due in 2013.

If they were ever to make such a car, first they are going to launch the three-door i30 and then make a hot hatch version of that. The three-door i30 is already planned for late 2012.

Now, this might come as a bit of a surprise to those familiar with the old Hyundai i30. It was a very very good car, but it was quite dull. That’s why it was, and still is, hugely popular among the elderly. The new i30 however, with its aggressive new design, is clearly aimed at a younger audience. So it makes perfect sense for Hyundai to invest in a hot version.

In fact it will be brilliant. A sportier version of this car would look amazing, and as for the performance, well the word is it’s going to get the same 1.6 liter turbo with 200-hp Hyundai will put in the new Veloster turbo.

Hyundai USA is about to demolish its old headquarters in Fountain Valley California. But before doing so they decided to do something cool with it, and what would be cooler than Rhys Millen drifting his Genesis Coupe through the building. To make it more interesting they actually wrote a script for the whole thing, trying to make a mini heist film! It’s all come together very nicely. And Millen’s driving skills, that’s even better.

The i-oniq is Hyundai’s latest European concept car set for debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. This is a very important car because according to Hyundai it will preview the next evolution of the brand’s ‘fluidic sculpture’ form language. So basically it’s the new face of Hyundai. Designed and developed at the company’s European R&D centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the i-oniq appears to be very curvy and elegant, judging by this teaser image, while its name, with that little ‘i’, suggests it’s powered by a fancy electric or hybrid system.

The new Hyundai Azera finally makes its debut at L.A. Autoshow, a chance to reveal its new design and a bewildering array of features.

The fluidic sculpture design philosophy has resulted in a long, low and slightly fat body for the new Azera. It is big and impressive, but not as elegant as, say, a 5-series BMW. The Azera being a luxury car it comes with lots of chrome detailing and can be had 19-inch polished wheels (18-inch standard).

There is also a wide range of colors to choose from, including Black Onyx Pearl, Porcelain White Pearl, Silver Frost Metallic, Smoke Gray Metallic, Hyper Silver Metallic, Venetian Red Pearl, Bronze Mist Metallic and Midnight Blue Pearl. Interior color choices are Camel, Graphite Black and Chestnut Brown.

The interior has a much nicer design than the old model. The elegant look continues inside where Hyundai has created an upscale ambiance, thanks to a flow-through center fascia and instrument panel. These flowing surfaces complement the exterior design and wrap around the driver and passengers. It is also packed with equipments. That’s always been the Azera’s winning card.

Hyundai wanted the new Azera to be a real luxury car so they decided to put as much kit as they can in there. Let’s name a few of them: panoramic sunroof, D Carbon interior accents, ambient lighting, electrochromic auto-dimming mirror with HomeLink® and power rear sunshade and manual rear side window shades, ten-way power driver and eight-way front passenger’s seats, ventilated front seats (optional) – fans in the front seat back and bottom cushions circulate air through the perforated leather seats, heated front and rear seats, dual automatic climate control, second row air vents, cooled glove box, and…

The car is powered by the Lambda II 3.3-liter GDI engine, with estimated fuel economy of 20 mpg city / 29 mpg highway / 23 mpg combined. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual control.

Before revealing the new Azera at the Los Angeles Autoshow, Hyundai wants to get you all revved up with this tear video. The new Azera is everything you could ask from a luxury saloon, and then some. it offers a comfy smooth ride, lots and lots of features, and a 293 hp engine that does 29 mpg. It also looks good now, thanks to the Fluidic Sculpture design. But it doesn’t move you the way a 5-series or an E-Class does. That is probably why it’s considerably cheaper than the Germans.
