Edmund’s Inside Line were among the lucky press members who got to play with the new Mercedes C63 Black at the Lagua Seca. And they brought this mice video as a sort of souvenir for us to marvel at. Black Series AMGs as you know are the most vicious Mercs you can buy. The car is so much fun to drive it’s dangerous! Well, the old CLK Black was. This one, even though it seems softer and nicer, is still very lethal.

Here’s another video from Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV at Laguna Seca, and it’s a good’un. It is an homage to Porsche heroes, both cars and people. The bits with people are not very good to be honest,  as most Porsche racing heroes are now grumpy old men, but the cars are just awesome. This is  good way of wrapping things up. Rennsport Reunion IV was a fantastic event.

With every new video Porsche releases of the Rennsport Reunion IV, we more and more wish we could have made it to Laguna Seca. Stuff like this amazing parade of Porsche family on the track are what make it so interesting. This to a Porsche fan is heaven. We just wish there was more 991 in it!

While hanging out at Laguna Seca race track, Jay Leno spotted a rare classic and discovered there’s a fascinating story behind it. The Mark III 1959 Aston Martin DB2/4 was Michael Green’s dad’s company car when he was an Aston Engineer back in the 50s. Now the car has been passed to him and he attends classic car events and vintage races with it. How awesome it is inheriting a vintage racer! Part of the Rennsport Reunion IV was the introduction of Porsche 991, the new one, to the American public. So to make some on-track footage of the car, Porsche put the works driver Patrick Long in the car and Rolex Grand-Am GT Champion Leh Keen in a Cayman R, to chase him and film the car. The outcome of this effort is an awesome video for us to enjoy. The 991 just got so much charm. We want one, quite badly!

This time around Jay Leno brings to you a vintage race car. The 1939 Logonda V12 Le Mans Replica is owned by Jay’s friend Richard Morrison. The car has an incredible story behind it. Two of this Le Mans winning racer were hit by B1 bombers during the war and there was only one chassis left behind. Jay went to Laguna Seca to catch up with Richard and his superb machine. Porsche released another great video from the Rennsport Reunin IV at Laguna Seca, where they also revealed the new Porsche 991 to the American public. This one features the best of the Vintage race cars attended the event from all over the world. For those of us who know a thing or two about old Porsches, this video is such a treat. Those who don’t will still be able to enjoy watching these cool cars and the fabulous scenery.

This past weekend was a very special time for Porsche fan. The Rennsport Reunion IV was on at Laguna Seca and many rare and glorious Porsche models were assembled. Pedigree, racing pedigree, has always been something for Porsche to be proud of, and this event shows why. At the end of the program they took  family photo which as you see in the video after the jump, turned out quite amazing.

Cadillac wanted to show you some laps of the Laguna Seca through the eyes of the CTS-V racing driver Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim. To add a little fun, each driver also has o comment on his lap. They prove it’s hard to be factual and funny at the same time. You do get a nice view of the Laguna Seca though.

Yep, here’s another track video of the new BMW M5, because we know you can’t have enough of it!

And again, it’s like BMW has only this Monaco Blue M5 to film all the promo videos and pictures. It would be really nice to see this car in another color for a change. This weekend the 2012 M5 made a surprise visit to the Pebble Beach Concours, and yes, that was in blue as well. Anyhow, enjoy the car wrestling bends of Laguna Seca.

Here’s a hot out of oven video of Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster American debut at Laguana Seca Moto GP race. Why Moto GP? Because AMG has partnered with Ducati, and may even buy the Italian brand. The car present at the event was a Black Mercedes SLS Roadster with red roof, and it looks absolutely stunning. In this video Mercedes AMG USA product Manager Rob Moran talks you through some of the features of the car.

What we learn from this video is: Don’t ever take your mom to the track! I mean honestly, why would you do that?! Well, ask this racing driver fella, who thought it’s a good idea to take his mother around Laguna Seca in a Corvette Zo6. Maybe he knew about her reactions and just wanted to scare the bejesus out of her, to have a bit of a giggle. Well, it definitely cracked us up! Watch the vid after the jump.

Nissan LEAF is a small electric vehicle and its natural territory is in the heart of the city. This last couple of months though, the car has been trying out different forms of motorsport! We had the Nismo LEAF RC, then the car won the electric class at Pikes Peak hill climb challenge, and now check it out on the fearsome Laguna Seca race track. The car’s motorsport background though, won’t necessarily help selling the car. Electric car buyers have no concept of sport!

MotorTrend recently set about answering the question that’s been on the  lips of the nation for a while! Is the new Ford Mustang Boss 302 faster than a BMW M3 around the track? The answer is yes, quite a bit faster. Nearly 2.8 second faster to be precise around Laguna Seca circuit. Now one might argue that the Boss is a muscle car and the Bimmer a sporty coupe, but they’re both V8-engined with the same sort of power. Granted, the Boss 302 looks a bit vulgar compared to the M3, but the American is a helluva lot more fun to drive and it offers better value as well. The 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR (American Club Racer) has proved once again that even in today’s world of sophisticated electronics and 100-way traction controls, raw horsepower can still cut it very well when it comes to braking records! And it did it by recapturing the lap record for production cars at Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway. Driven by engineer Chris Winkler, the Viper set a lap time of 1:33.915, bettering the previous record by 1.1 seconds.

The Street and Racing Technology (SRT) team from Chrysler Group LLC arrived at Laguna Seca raceway today on a mission – to recapture the production car lap record at the world-renowned road course in Monterey, Calif.Mission accomplished.

Chris Winkler, an SRT vehicle dynamics engineer piloted a black and red 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR (American Club Racer) to a lap record of 1:33.915 as recorded by Motech in-vehicle data recorder (1:33.944 – as unofficially recorded by trackside clock) around the 2.238-mile, 11-turn course, shattering the previous lap record by more than 1.1 seconds.

“It was definitely exciting but a somewhat uneventful lap overall from behind the steering wheel,” said Winkler, who is still learning the intricate details of Laguna Seca raceway, having spent only one other session on the course. “The Dodge Viper ACR has amazing power and handles like a dream, so following my first practice here last month, I came away pretty confident that we’d be able to set a new record.”

In 2008, professional road racer Randy Pobst, drove a 2008 Dodge Viper ACR to a one-lap, production car record of 1:35.117 at Laguna Seca raceway while working with Motor Trend. That record stood until August 6, 2009 when the most recent record of 1:35.075 was established by a one-off exotic prototype.

Ralph Gilles, President and CEO, Dodge Brand and Senior Vice President, Product Design Office, Chrysler Group LLC, was impressed with the Viper’s performance. “I’ve been closely tied to this car my entire career and even after owning one myself for some time, I’m still amazed with what the Dodge Viper can do on and off the race track,” Gilles said. “After our record-setting lap at the Nurburgring circuit, we’re excited to set a second performance benchmark record at another world-famous road course.”

The Dodge Viper is going into the final year of production for the current-generation model. Approximately 500 Vipers will be produced in 2010.

“We’re going to keep Dodge’s performance icon alive and well by not only producing some of the most special Vipers ever built, but we’re also investigating what the next-generation Viper is going to be,” added Gilles. “When we have partners across the ocean who are known as the best sports carmakers in the world, the future opportunities are huge.”

2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR

The Dodge Viper ACR remains the ultimate purpose-built, street-legal track car since its introduction in 2008.

New for the 2010 model year is a shorter fifth gear ratio (changing from 0.74 to 0.80) for improved high-speed acceleration and higher straightaway speeds. This improvement is a direct result of SRT’s experience at the 12.9-mile Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany where during the lap-record run in 2008, it was found that a revised gear ratio would have resulted in a higher speed capability and potentially a shorter elapsed time.

The Dodge Viper ACR also receives a new short-throw shifter in 2010 for enhanced driver experience and better performance. The rear wing profile and end plates are redesigned to further optimize the vehicle aerodynamics and improve rear yaw downforce. These changes result in an increase in top speed of 4 mph (to 184 mph).

Powered by the venerable 8.4-liter, V-10 engine with 600 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque, the Dodge Viper ACR continues to offer extreme performance, including 0-60 mph acceleration in less than 4 seconds, quarter-mile time in the mid 11-second range and 0-100-0 mph in 11 seconds flat.

The Dodge Viper ACR with optional Hard Core Package is more than 80 lbs. lighter than the production SRT10 and offers race-ready hardware and competition tuning for optimal on-track performance.

The four-wheel independent suspension features high-performance aluminum control arms and knuckles, KW suspension with two-way adjustable competition coil-over shock absorbers with remote reservoirs.

The aerodynamic package features a carbon fiber “fanged” splitter in front and adjustable carbon-fiber wing with seven-position stanchions that allow up to an amazing 1,000 lbs. of downforce at 150 mph. Lightweight wheels, two-piece slotted StopTech brake rotors and Michelin PS Cup tires round out the Dodge Viper ACR package.

The 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR will make its worldwide auto show debut on Dec. 2, 2009 at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

This can be very well the start of a new era in American supercars history. This is the Devon GTX supercar and in essence it’s a classic American muscle car combined with a European track-focused sportscar. It comes with a huge amount of raw power controlled by sophisticated technology. Sounds like a mouthwatering recipe!

Unveiled today at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Devon GTX is designed by Daniel Paulin and is a creation of Devon Motorworks.

“We set out to design a vehicle that was quintessentially American, both in its shape and in its performance, Standing still, the Devon GTX tells a story of power, handling and beauty. It’s classical, yet futuristic design promises an incredible experience. Once under power, the GTX lives up to its promise every heart-pounding second you’re behind the wheel.” Said Scott Devon, founder and CEO of Devon Motorworks.

Beneath its light-weight carbon fiber body, the GTX has a massive 8.4 liter V10 engine that produces 650 horsepower (484.7 kW) at 6100 rpm. It is mated to a six-speed manual transmission developed for track use. The car has already set new lap records at Willow Springs Raceway and Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca.

Devon will only make 36 GTX per year and each one is bespoke to its customer.  “Each of our customers will have individual needs that we will cater to,” Devon said. “Our philosophy is to blend their tastes with our exacting standards and in the spirit of bespoke craftsmanship, create a car that is both identifiably a Devon GTX yet singular to our customers’ specifications. We want to make sure we have a direct relationship with our customers.”

It’s priced at $500,000 with an optional $25000 racing package and will go on sale in the first quarter of 2010. Now that is quit a lot of money considering you can buy a Ferrari 599 for half that price, but Devon GTX is certainly a future classic, and for that reason it’s well worth it.

As the new generation of American supercars, Devon GTX shows off what it can do by setting a lap record of 1:35.075 around one of the most famous race tracks in America and indeed the world, Laguna Seca. The car will make its public debut at 2009 Pebble Beach Councours d’Elegance on August 15. The very first models will be out in early 2010.

Devon GTX Sets One-Lap Record at Laguna Seca (August 06, 2009)

August 5, 2009 (Los Angeles) The all-new Devon GTX supercar has yet to be introduced to the public but that didn’t stop it from making news. In testing at the famed Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca, the first vehicle from California-based industrial design house Devon Motorworks (devonmotorworks.com) turned in a production car lap record time of 1:35.075. Already recognized for its breakthrough design, the Devon GTX record lap demonstrates the GTX will stand on its own with the world’s best supercars.

While this testing session was closed t othe public, the rest of the world will see the Devon GTX in person for the first time when it makes its debut at the Pebble Beach Councours d’Elegance on August 15, 2009.

“The Laguna Seca test session showed us just a glimpse of what the Devon GTX is capable of from a performance perspective,” said Devon Motorworks CEO and founder Scott Devon. “Through further validation and testing, we know this car is capable of even greater lap times and making an even stronger statement about the future of the American supercar.”

The test session at Laguna was the most recent in a series of rigorous validation sessions for the Devon GTX as the team builds to its public introduction in mid-August at the famed Pebble Beach event.

“There is no more important event in the world for cars in this class,” Devon added. “We realize that – by introducing the Devon GTX at the Concours d’Elegance – we are asking the world’s automotive elite to bless this car. With its bold design and outstanding performance characteristics, we are quite confident we will earn their approval.”

Two key activities will highlight an exciting weekend for the Devon GTX:

* On Saturday, August, 15, media will get the first live look at the Devon GTX at a press event on the Concours Ramp at the Lodge at Pebble Beach. The event will be hosted by Scott Devon and will feature key members of the Devon Motorworks team. Pricing and specifications will also be revealed at the event.
* The following day, on Sunday, August 16, 2009, visitors to the Concours d’Elegance will see the Devon GTX as it takes its place next to some of the most exciting classic and all-new marks on the famed putting green at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Following an exciting and busy weekend, the Devon Motorworks team will return to its Los Angeles headquarters to prepare the first production vehicles for sale to the public. The first Devon GTX will make its street introduction in the first quarter of 2010.
