The L4p RENNtech McLaren Mercedes SLR777 – the world’s fastest SLR – puts its money where its mouth is and set an incredible quarter-mile record of 9.76 seconds @ 140.8 mph. This one of a kind SLR that features a Mansory Renovation body kit, is powered by a RENNtech-tuned V8 with more than 700-hp output. Check out the car’s record breaking run after the jump.

The high-end Japanese tuner Premier4509 has come up with a nice new kit for the good old McLaren Mercedes SLR.

Their inspiration for this kit was the Mercedes SLR McLaren Edition, a special version of the supercar limited to just 25 units and featuring unique design features.

The front-end looks pretty much the same as the Edition SLR, with a new carbon fiber bumper, but it also gets new side skirts which make the side exhausts pop, some carbon fiber garnish for the side vents and the hood, carbon fiber fender covers, boot lid spoiler, and revised rear bumper with an awesome diffuser.

The SLR, as you know, has been replaced with the Mercedes SLS a few years ago. But this Anglo-German hyper car remains in the top 5 list of every car nut around the world, forever.

Premier4509 McLaren Mercedes SLR will be on display at the 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon.

This car first appeared on the radar three years ago and instantly disgusted everybody in the world of cars. Now it’s available for sale, and you wouldn’t believe the asking price!

Apparently Swiss designer Ueli Anliker, the one responsible for ruining the lovely SLR like this, is asking $11 million for it. For that you get the ugliest body kit ever, some red paint, oh and a few kilos of pure 24-karat gold.

The car, dubbed Red Gold Dream, has some special features, such as ruby-encrusted lug nuts, jeweled indicators, a gold-trimmed interior and steering wheel, ruby-covered switchgear, gold plated headlight surrounds and golden door sills. Even the paint job has has a considerable amount of gold dust in it to make it more shiny.

No one sane would even accept a ride in this hateful thing, let alone spending that kind of money on it. But lucky for Ueli our world has enough clinically insane billionaires who might find this car interesting. You now, after a few bongs and bottles, they would.

McLaren Mercedes SLR dates back to 2003. But design-wise the old gal looks lie she was born yesterday.

That gave guys at Luxury4Play an idea to bring it back to the headlines by assembling a team of professionals to make the world’s fastest SLR. Nicknamed the SLR777, this car is the result of a joint project between Platinum Motorsport, RENNtech, MACarbon and Exotics Boutique.

The car, which also has the Mansory Renovatio Body Kit and 20-inch Agetro M140, uses RENNtech engie upgrade program to develop 770 hp. That enables it to run the quarter mile in 10.29 seconds at 134 mph.

If the factory standard McLaren Mercedes 727 doesn’t float your boat, this SLR 707 by WheelsAndMore might be the answer.

It comes with a lightly modded version of the supercharged V8 in the standard car, which develops 707 PS and 915 Nm of torque. It’s been done with some ECU tweaking and exhaust trickery, plus using a big 5.4 liter compressor. That will reduce the 0 to 100 km/h sprint to 3.5 seconds.

WMA also hooks you up with lowered suspension, and a set of 20-inch wheels with red outer lip which look really nice on the car. They come wrapped in Dunlop Sportmaxx tires.

So, if you own an old SLR and want to refresh it, this package is just the thing. Or, you can trade it in for a SLS!

This chromed-out Emirati McLaren Mercedes SLR, lightly modified with Brabus components including airbox and wheels, which usually hangs out at Dubai malls, is now in London on vacation. The car is certainly one of a kind, but is it cool? Hmmm, not sure about that!

The owner of this Brabus McLaren Mercedes SLR Roadster must be a very responsible man! He realized that he cannot drive his car fast on public roads because it’s dangerous. Instead he unleashes his supercar in… an underground parking. The guy who filmed this whole event from the passenger seat explains – after expressing his deep excitement – that they hit 150 km/h, probably 10 times the speed allowed in such facilities. It does sound nice though that SLR!

This is not a tuned Mercedes McLaren SLR. This is an official limited edition of the SLR called McLaren Edition. Although the production of the SLR had come to an end with the introduction of the SLS, but apparently they have a couple more which they want to sell using this trick! Mercedes SLR McLaren Edition is limited to only 25 units, and is the best looking version of the supercar, even better than the 722.

This limited edition SLR gets a tweaked version of the same 5.4-liter supercharged V8 with 620 to 650 hp, and will have a top speed in excess of 330 km/h. But the best thing about it really is the looks, which gets modified front-end with bumper, bonnet and grille, new side gills, and rear diffuser.

There’s no picture of the interior available yet, but that must be modified as well. The price of it is currently unknown too but you may rest assured that it’s painfully high! An example of the SLR McLaren Edition is currently on display at Essen Motorshow.

McLaren Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss, Mercedes E-class W212 and the E-Class Coupe has been awarded by GOOD DESIGN Award from Chicago Athenaeum – Museum of Architecture and Design. SLR Stirling Moss is the last of the SLR Supercar breed which features an outstanding design. The new generation of E-class sedan and Coupe, which replaced the CLK, have also been recognized as truly great designs, a successful change over the previous models.

The Chicago Athenaeum – Museum of Architecture has been presenting its international GOOD DESIGN® Award for the world’s most innovative and well-designed products each year since 1950. This year the institution decided to present three Mercedes-Benz models with the GOOD DESIGN® Award - the E-Class, the E-Class Coupé and the SLR Stirling Moss.

In the previous two years, the jury for the GOOD DESIGN® Award also recognised the high design quality of Mercedes-Benz automobiles by presenting the award to the GLK and the C-Class.

The former curator of the Museum of Modern Art, Edgar Kaufmann Jr., founded the Chicago Athenaeum – Museum of Architecture sixty years ago, together with the major modern design pioneers Charles and Ray Eames, Russel Wright, George Nelson and Eero Saarinen.

Today Mercedes released a press note announcing that they are building the very last examples of the McLaren Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss edition, and after that the car’s era will come to an end and the SLR badge will be history.  The new Mercedes SLS will be its replacement as the firm’s supercar. I think it’s fair to say that the McMerc SLR had a huge impact on the automotive world during its time, and will remain in automobile history book as one of the all time greatest.

SLR story began in beginning of this century! But it was in 2004 that finally the Vision SLR concept becomes a reality in form of a super-sport super-lux GT car. It was the first full fledged supercar which could be used everyday. It had all the standards of a luxury coupe but with the colossal power of that supercharged AMG V8 under the bonnet it also was insanely fast! It was also such a perfect car, that no one could really come up with a serious flaw in it!

Sure the plastic interior was a bit irritating in the first models, but they addressed it in the next editions, and there was a bit of an argument about the car’s ceramic brakes which are said to be numb and senseless, but as Jeremy Clarkson proved in one of the old top Gear episodes, they can stop you from 120mph in the same distance that a normal car should be able to stop from 60mph! so they were bloody good!

SLR, which by the way stands for “sporty”, “light” and “raceworthy”, has a family with 5 members: SLR,SLR Roadster,SLR 722,SLR 722 S Roadstser and the limited special edition SLR Stirling Moss. The SLR Moss limited to only 75 units, is actually a perfect swan song for this mighty supercar.

Overall 2000 SLR models have been produced – substantially more than any other sports car in this elite category. An SLR also represents a membership ticket to the SLR. CLUB. The spirit of the SLR will live on in this exclusive community of gentleman-drivers even after production ceases.

You are probably familiar with Hamann Volcano SLR, an ostentatious body kit for the McLaren Mercedes which was released about a year ago. First model was wearing a white paint with naked black carbon parts on bonnet, fenders and the boot. Then some months ago during the 2009 IAA, the tuner released a red edition with the same characteristics and now they are introducing the yellow version of this car! Technically all models are the same, Hamann has just changes the paintjob and released it as a new edition!

The Volcano’s appearance might not appeal to anyone, specially fans of the original SLR, but as far as performance goes this car is a marvel. The standard V8 engine of the SLR is modified with a newly programmed control unit, especially developed high performance exhaust manifolds and an amended belt pulley combination for the serial compressors, and the result of this changes is a massive 700 hp and 830 nm of torque.

Therefore the Volcano beats the original car and the factory-tuned 722 model in top speed. It is also faster in 0-60 acceleration as it only takes 3.6 seconds.

Just like the exterior, the cabin too features a yellow and black theme with leather and alcantara upholstery with hand-stitches and yellow carbon fiber decorations

Hamann released the Volcano package for McLaren Mercedes SLR about nine months ago, and although it faced some serious criticism regarding its boy-racer looks they thought it’s a good idea to bring it up again, this time in a red theme specially designed for the 2009 IAA. Apart from the design, it is an engineering marvel and it’s even faster than the original SLR 722 by 11 km/h!

The source of power in the Volcano Red is a modified version of SLR’s supercharged V8 engine. With some modifications including a newly programmed control unit, especially developed high performance exhaust manifolds and an amended belt pulley combination for the serial compressors, it now checks out 700 hp and torque of 830 Nm!

The result of this much power is definitely blistering performance: 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and maximum speed of 348 km/h.

Hamann also had to re-program the computer which controls gear changes to make it compatible with the new engine setup, and also installed a new water pomp. The Volcano, even if you don’t look at it, is distinguishable from normal SLRs because of it’s crazy sound! It comes with six mufflers on each side of the car rather than the regular four.

The SLR Volcano Red is fitted with Hamann Edition Race 21 inch wheels with 255/30ZR21 tires  at the front and 345/25ZR21 at the back.

British tuner Kahn has customized the McLaren Mercedes SLR before, but now as the car’s production has come to an end they give it another treatment. Project Kahn is known for exquisite taste, and it shows on this car which, according to Kahn, has stealth exterior styling and magnesium alloy wheels. They say it’s the perfect exotic road car.

Almost all of the tuned SLRs we’ve seen were utterly horrible! It’s good that at least Kahn has made something very prestigious and classy. It is a good tribute to the mighty SLR.

Today AutoBild released more real pictures of the upcoming Mercedes SLS AMG which will make its debut during this year’s IAA motor show in September. This is the first time that SLS’s rear-end design is also revealed, and as you see it has an exquisite shape never seen before in any car! Not sure if it’s really pretty, but it’s certainly unique.

SLS is not as posh and bold as the McLaren SLR, and that’s a good thing, because it won’t have SLR price tag! The SLS costs only 165,000 euros! I know it’s not exactly cheap, but for a super car with this swell retro-classic looks and a massive 6.2 liter developing 571 bhp which makes it capable of doing 0 to 100 in 3.8 seconds and reach top speed of 315 km/h, it sounds like a bargain.

So, here it is. Mercedes SLS which we’ve been waiting to see for a long time! How do you like it?!

Mercedes SLS AMG is simply the most important car to be launched in 2010. If you still haven’t heard of it, just to put it in brief, it’s a modernized 300SL Gullwing featuring the same astonishing classic shape with roof hinged doors, but with modern design and engineering. So this car is everyone’s favourite! Mercedes has revealed SLS interior before, but now some new pictures and sketches are out which definitely worth a look.

Mercedes previous supercar, the McLaren SLR, used to share many of its parts with other cars by the company specially the SL. But for the new one, they steer clear of their ordinary design and offer something truly unique. The cabin has the classic theme like the original 300SL, as it should, but simultaneously it feels pretty modern and up to date. The leather and carbon fiber trimming is swell, Those aluminum knobs and dials are brilliant and the way they’ve arranged the whole dashboard and console is just exquisite. In short, it looks just right!

Mercedes has been very reluctant to give us a glimpse of the SLS AMG so far, and the spyshots are not that revealing because of the camos. But the car will debut in summer at the IAA, so fortunately it’s not that far away. SLS AMG is a full blooded German product, McLaren has not been involved in this project since they are busy following their own expansion plans. SLS will also be much more accessible than the SLR, pricing is expected to be around $200,000 in America. Also in 2011 a roadster version will arrive. About three months ago we brought to you official pictures of the ‘SLR Desire’, Fab design’s idea of the perfect McLaren Mercedes SLR, and to be honest nobody liked the way it is styled! It actually seems to be designed by a six year old boy! Anyway, at that time we mentioned that it will come to UAE and guess what! Good fellas over at Alain Class got the first production unit out of total 15. So we thought we should have a better look at it via these live pictures, maybe it makes a bit of sense!

The thing is, it might look ugly and we might not like it because it ruins the reputation of the original SLR as a fantastic looking machine, but if you look at it from normal people point of view, not a car nut’s view (which you probably are, becuz you’re reading a car blog!) then it makes perfect sense. I mean the whole point of a hyper car is that people look at it and go WOW! and with the SLR Desire, this mission is accomplished. It’s the perfect car for showing off!

Apart from the body which is not that desirable frankly, There are some good points in this car.The V8 supercharged engine is heavily tuned to 750 hp and 1080 Nm of torque, and the interior is a work of art. A two-tone black and white leather trimming with carbon fiber parts everywhere, creates a pleasant place to be in.

Of course the ‘Desire’ costs a helluva lot of money but for that you get the most important quality of them all, exclusivity! well it might not matter to you because you can’t afford it and if you could you wouldn’t waste all the money on something like this, but we are talking UAE, where the number of SLRs are greater than cabs! Sure you don’t want your SLR to look exactly as your neighbour’s!

After all, this car deserves a bit of attention, doesn’t it?!

Alain Class Motors

This is the latest, and yet the best, rendering of the upcoming supercar by Mercedes called the SLS AMG. A car which features a retro-classic shape reviving the legendary Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing with roof hinged doors, short tail and long bonnet with lots of power under it! SLS AMG has passed extensive tests around the globe and is now ready for debut at this year’s IAA Frankfurt Motor Show in September. A year after its launch in 2011, it’ll spawn a roadster version as well.

Unlike Merc’s previous supercar, the SLR, which was a joint project with the British partner McLaren, the SLS is a full blooded Mercedes. It’s not as powerful as the SLR, the 6.3 liter AMG V8 unit in it just turns out 571 hp, but it is light and agile, and best of all it’s got lots and lots of character. And character is what makes a car freezingly cool.

According to a wise man, the size of your ‘thing’ is inversely proportional to the flashiness of your car, so you can imagine how’s life with the owner of this ostentatious McLaren Mercedes SLR! Oh it’s worse than that! It’s not real gold plated, it’s just foil… Oh Dear!

What was exactly the problem with the original car?! Of course in Dubai where the number of SLRs are greater than cabs, if you want to stand out in public you have to do such things, like chrome paint jobs or gold plated body. For those less fortunate though, a new trend is growing fast in Dubai and that’s the foiling! They cover your car in every imaginable thing you desire through foil, so when you realize how much of a cock you look when you drive such thing around you can easily remove it!

The SLR worth about $400 K, foiling is not cheap either, and the plate number on this SLR is hugely expensive, so the guy has literally spent about a million dollar on his car to advertise around that…

God I can’t imagine how embarrassing is this golden SLR to be seen in.

We were the first to bring the ASMA SLR Perfectus to the web and now, hopefully, we are the first to present you official pictures of the FAB design SLR as well! And we are confident to say that like the Perfectus, at least a sample of this FAB is coming to UAE. Well, looks like people here are very fond of ugly SLRs!

Of course you can’t rationalize such cars, as they are custom vehicles made just for showing off their owner’s wealth, but I suspect anyone look at this car and say Wow that’s a beauty! That huge rear wing and triple side exhausts and that front bumper, they are not really elegant! Are they? In fact as we have pointed out many times, none of the SLR tuning jobs never really worked. Except for Brabus SLR and that’s because they had only changed the rims and nothing else!

Anyway, there are not much details available at the time about the specs of the car, the only thing we know is that the V8 supercharged engine in the FAB Design SLR develops 750 hp. Other adjustments like lower, stiffer suspension or bigger brakes should be done accordingly. The car is currently on display at Geneva Autosalon so expect official details very soon. Based on what we see in the pictures, most of the work is done on the exterior, the cockpit remains more or less original, only a few touches like using more red leather on dashboard, doors and steering wheel is noticeable!

After Mansory and Hamann finished torturing the SLR with their hideous bodykits, here comes the RENNTECH! To celebrate company’s 20th anniversary, they have planned to make 20 examples of what you see in the picture above, called RENNTECH 777. The body is totally modified and while it is not as terrible as what Hamann did to the car, it still deserve the word ‘cock’ ! Of course these are only renderings and we have to see the live pictures to really judge it but it seems that no bodykit fits the SLR in the first place, it looks better naturally. Apart from the looks, RENNTECH also fiddled with the engine ans as you guess it now has 777 horsepower which can take the car to 210+ mph top speed! Then again, as a showcase of what RENNTECH is capable of, this is great. But as car for real it is just not right. Renovatio and Volcano proved this fact!

RENNTECH 777 20th Anniversary, or: Horsepower Wars really Really REALLY Not Over

Lake Park, FL – Earlier this week, AMG boss Volker Mornhinweg
announced that â the horsepower war is over.” If this
sounds familiar, it’s because AMG issued a similar press
release LAST JANUARY.

“Last year, it was a coincidence that we were releasing a
new, 695 hp performance package for the 65 series AMG
cars at around the same time. We sent out a press
release that said ‘HP War Not Over’,” recalls Hartmut
Feyhl, president of RENNTECH and four-star General of
the horsepower wars. “This year it is the same timing
again, and we have something much more extreme to
announce for our 20th Anniversary.”

Feyhl founded RENNTECH in 1989, and the company
has since established itself as one of the world’s premier
tuning firms and the foremost authority on Mercedes-Benz
performance tuning. 2009 marks the company’s 20th year
in business, and the company intends to celebrate by
releasing a small number of extreme, limited edition
performance vehicles, beginning with the 777 hp,
RENNTECH 777 shown here.

“This 777 concept is really an all-new car that makes use
of the advanced carbon fiber chassis of the SLR McLaren.
It can be described as a street-legal track car, or
something closer to what the enthusiasts were hoping for
from the SLR, originally – which is more a successor to the
McLaren F1.”

RENNTECH heavily revised the SLR McLaren bodywork
and aero package using some of the same technology the
company used to develop the the GLK Hybrid Rally Racer
for Mercedes-Benz, including advanced CFD software to
develop the aerodynamics for improved downforce. Even
with the big wing, splitters, and skirts, a top speed in
excess of 210 mph is well within reach for the 777.

The 777 is much more than lightweight bodywork,
however. The 5.5 L supercharged “Kompressor” v8
engine is heavily revised, with internal and external
performance upgrades and a significantly upgraded
cooling system.

Getting that power to the ground is the job of a fully
redesigned suspension and driveline, with a heavily

locking wheels round out the street -legal handling
package.

“The 777 will be a very special car,” explains Hartmut.
“The first example is being built now, and will be ready
this Spring. We intend to build a few different extreme
vehicles like this for our 20th anniversary, with each one
being strictly limited to 20 units. They are all very exciting
projects, and we will be announcing them throughout the
year, as they approach completion.”
