Shopping for a fast sports saloon? This test conducted by EVO will make it easier for you to make the final decision. Mauro Calo, Mercedes Benz demo driver will soon have a crack at drifting world record using either a E63 or C63 AMG.

The location where he will attempt to beat the current record of 8,000 ft is a narrow perimeter track at Brooklands in Surrey, UK. The target is 10,000 ft or nearly 2 miles, which means he’s going to have to maintain the powersilde for 12 laps, or four minutes, in third gear, at 55 mph! A very tall order even in a car as tail-happy as the E63!

These AMG cars are actually the perfect tool for such a task. Once you switch the traction control off, the tail slides wide in every corner even on partial throttle. That’s what make them so much fun. Not particularly fast around a track, but fun. Can’t wait to see the results. Calo is 100 percent confident he can do it.

Mercedes decided to launch E63 AMG Wagon in America as part of its 2012 range update, after they realized how people like the Cadillac CTS-V there.

The E63 Wagon is such a sweet car because it’s so practical you can use it as a delivery car, so comfortable you can use it as an everyday family car, and it just happens to go like the clappers. Before this the car used to get a 6.2 liter V8, but this yer Mercedes is offering the newer, more efficient 5.5-liter twin-turbo direct-injection V8 engine with 518 hp, 516 lb-ft of torque.

It also can be had with ECO Stop/Start technology mated to the AMG 7-speed MCT and the new 19-inch AMG 10-spoke wheels. Optional Performance Packages is also available to raise the power to 550hp/590lb-ft in case the standard is not enough for you. The car also features a panoramic roof which boosts it appeal as a family bus.

The thing is, you never buy an estate because you want one, but because you need one. And those who ‘need’ a wagon out practicality at the top of their list. Given the choice we would go for the sedan E63 every time.

A few days ago we told you about the new version of Mercedes E63 AMG which gets the new 5.5 liter BiTurbo V8 instead of the old 6.3 unit. Now the company released full details of the car.

Launching this model is part of the “AMG Performance 2015″ model strategy which is ought to make their cars more efficient thorough downsizing, using technologies such as turbocharging and start/stop, and if necessary even hybrids.

If we get straight to the facts and figures, this engine has 5461 cc, eight-cylinder and a peak output of 386 kW (525 hp) and torque of 700 Nm. Fit it with the 8000 Euro AMG Performance Pack and it makes 410 kW (557 hp) and 800 Nm. That means zero to 100 km/h takes 4.3 and 4.2 seconds respectively (Estate: 4.4 and 4.3 seconds), and the top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited). It does that while averaging 9.8 litres per 100 kilometres according to NEDC combined, with CO2 emissions of 230 grams per kilometre (Estate: 10.0 l/100 km; 234 g/km).

The car gets the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission with Controlled Efficiency (“C”) mode in addition to the “S” (Sport), “S+” (Sport plus) and “M” (Manual).

Looks-wise the car is unchanged over the 6.3 except for the new SLS wheels and the V8 Biturbo lettering on the wings. Inside the cabin, in line with other new AMG cars like the CLS63, it gets a a three-spoke steering wheel with flattened top and bottom, aluminium shift paddles, the perforated leather in the grip areas and the three-dimensional design of the airbag cover with its “Silver Shadow” metallic trim element, plus the iconic E-SELECT shift lever with embossed AMG badge.

You can also customize your E63 and get extra features using AMG Performance Studio features including:

As you know the current Mercedes E63 AMG comes with the 6.3 liter naturally-aspirated V8, the same they use in the C63 as well. But now Mercedes is offering the new biturbo 5.5 liter V8 for this executive saloon.

The biturbo engine is only reserved for the high-end models like the latest CLS and the CL, but now you can order it for your E63. Apart from the fact the 6.3 liter engine makes a better noise, the newer, more powerful and more efficient unit is the one to have if you are looking for a serious performance machine.

With the turbo engine the car can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and, when fitted with AMG performance pack, do 300 km/h.It also helps at the pumps as it has fuel consumption of under 10liter/100 km. Of course that doesn’t really matter because in the real world you will be struggling to do even half of what they claim!

By the time the SLS AMG goes out of production, Mercedes is going to need a bigger museum becasue this car comes in with a ton and a bit of awards and titles and glory! The SLS is relentlessly reaping international awards one after another with the latest being the “Super Sports Car” of the year from AutoBild.

This must be the 20th award SLS has snatched since its introduction, and it deserves every single one of them. It is an unbelievably good car, even though it might not look like it at first. We think the reason this Mercedes has become so successful in such a short time, regardless of being an uncannily good sportscar, is the fact that unlike most of other supercars of this type it has a lot of fun built-in! It will make you happy every time you drive it.

AutoBild has also named the Mercedes E63 AMG as the Production Saloon of the year. Almost 70,000 readers of German car magazine “Auto Bild Sportscars” submitted their votes to make winners of both the SLS AMG and the E 63 AMG.

The E 63 AMG, the dynamic sports saloon from Mercedes-Benz, is now available with even higher quality standard appointments. The upper section of the dashboard and also the door beltlines are now finished in ARTICO leather, for example, while the centre console trim around the AMG DRIVE UNIT boasts an elegant black piano lacquer finish.

AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine, optional ceramic composite braking system

The E 63 AMG distinguishes itself from the standard E-Class models with the powerful AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine, the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with electronically controlled damping and a new front axle, and also with its unique exterior and interior design. A newly developed ceramic composite braking system is also optionally available for the top-of-the-range E-Class model. Thanks to the concerted use of fuel efficiency measures, Mercedes-AMG has achieved a reduction in fuel consumption by almost twelve percent in the E 63 AMG. The AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine in the E 63 AMG develops an output of 386 kW (525 hp) and a torque of 630 newton metres, matching the outstanding figures for the SL 63 AMG. The high-performance roadster has also donated its AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission to the E 63 AMG. This transmission dispenses with a conventional torque converter and uses a compact, wet start-up clutch. In conjunction with the four individual drive modes, the double-declutching and RACE START functions, the resulting direct connection to the powertrain allows an extremely emotional and highly dynamic driving experience, which can be adapted conveniently at the touch of a button.
The drive unit is unique in this segment, and ensures decidedly sporty performance figures: the E 63 AMG accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). The high-revving, naturally aspirated engine with a displacement of 6208 cc impresses with its agile responsiveness, muscular power delivery and great flexibility. The V8 sound is a thrilling accompaniment for mile after mile, while the smooth-running engine guarantees typical Mercedes long-distance comfort. An extremely high-performance water cooling system ensures maximum endurance even under the enormous dynamic stresses of the racetrack.

Fuel consumption cut by almost twelve percent

Despite 8 kW (11 hp) of additional output versus the preceding model, the fuel consumption of the E 63 AMG has been significantly reduced: at 12.6 litres of super-premium grade petrol per 100 kilometres (NEDC combined), the fuel consumption of the E 63 AMG is almost twelve percent lower than before, and leads the field among sports saloons developing more than 377 kW (500 hp). This progress has been made possible by a package of efficiency-enhancing measures. These include on-demand delivery of fuel and generator management with recuperation of braking energy on the overrun, both of which are standard in the E 63 AMG. In-engine friction is also reduced by the AMG-exclusive twin-wire arc spray coating process used on the cylinder walls.

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission also makes a decisive contribution to fuel economy: a wet start-up clutch running in an oil bath replaces the previous torque converter. This unit responds extremely rapidly, dynamically and without the losses typical of a torque converter transmission thanks to its low rotational inertia. The transmission is equipped with four drive modes: “C” (Controlled Efficiency), “S” (Sport), “S+” (Sport plus) and “M” (Manual), which can be selected using a rotary electronic switch in the AMG DRIVE UNIT. Partial suppression of individual cylinders by interrupting ignition and injection briefly during gearshifts under full load leads to considerably faster shift times. In S+ and M modes, the 7-speed sports transmission allows gearshifts to be performed in 100 milliseconds.
In the even more fuel-efficient Controlled Efficiency drive mode, the transmission shifts the gears decidedly smoothly, and the transmission control unit is programmed to perform early upshifts to keep engine speeds as low as possible. At the same time the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission meets the most demanding requirements where driving dynamics are concerned: fast, spontaneous multiple downshifts ensure first-class agility in conjunction with the automatic double-declutching and RACE START functions: this enables the driver of the E 63 AMG to call on the maximum acceleration potential automatically.

Electronically controlled damping system

Sporty or more comfort-oriented? The driver of the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG is not obliged to accept any compromises in this respect. The AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension copes equally well with the agile manoeuvres of the racetrack and more comfortable, sedate driving. High performance and typical Mercedes long-distance comfort go together as an extraordinary synthesis in the E 63 AMG. While steel spring struts are used on the front axle, the rear suspension features AMG-specific air springs. The advantage of this solution, which is exclusive to AMG, is that the front steel spring struts ensure more sensitive responses while the rear air struts, with their automatic level control system, keep the vehicle at a constant height irrespective of the load.
An electronically controlled damping system automatically varies the damping characteristics according to the driving situation, reducing the roll angle of the body. The result is instant adjustment to provide the best possible ride comfort together with the greatest possible agility. In addition, the driver is able to choose between the three suspension modes of Comfort, Sport and Sport plus at the touch of a button. The E 63 AMG is also equipped with a dedicated front axle with a 56-millimetre wider track, a tubular stabiliser, new control arms, new wheel bearings, new elastokinematics and new hub carriers for more negative camber – thereby providing more grip when taking bends at speed. The AMG-specific kinematics also ensure significantly more precision. This is a highly sophisticated axle design whose principle has already proved its worth in the C 63 AMG. The rear axle likewise has more negative camber, optimised elastokinematics and a new subframe mounting for greater stability at the physical limits.

Direct power steering and individual 3-stage ESP®

Direct responsiveness comes courtesy of the speed-sensitive rack-and-pinion steering. The steering ratio of 14:1 is 22 percent more direct than in the standard production models, while a more rigid steering column plus the characteristic mapping of the speed-sensitive servo assistance ensure better steering precision and improved road contact.
The 3-stage ESP® familiar from the SL 63 AMG and C 63 AMG enables individual settings to be selected – with clear benefits in terms of driving pleasure combined with the same, high level of handling safety. The ESP® button in the AMG DRIVE UNIT allows the driver to choose between “ESP ON”, “ESP SPORT” and “ESP OFF” – with the currently active mode shown in the central display of the instrument cluster. Perfect deceleration even when driving extremely briskly is ensured by the AMG high-performance braking system with 360-millimetre, internally ventilated and perforated brake discs all-round. Particularly resistant, motorsports-tested composite technology is used at the front axle.
The optional ceramic composite brakes with even larger brake discs guarantee even better braking performance. The ceramic brake discs perform reliably at even higher operating temperatures thanks to their greater hardness, all combined with an impressive weight reduction of around 40 percent. Outstanding grip is ensured by the AMG light-alloy wheels with tyres of sizes 255/40 R 18 at the front and 285/35 R 18 at the rear.

Decidedly dynamic interior and exterior

The decidedly dynamic design of the E 63 AMG is fully in keeping with the uncompromisingly sporty technology. The front aspect is characterised by 17-millimetre wider wings bearing “6.3 AMG” lettering, the AMG front apron with large intake air apertures and the AMG-specific daytime driving lights in LED technology. In conjunction with the optional Intelligent Light System (ILS), the E 63 AMG is equipped with tinted main headlamps. The striking visual presence is further enhanced by the side sill panels and rear apron with a black insert. As a hallmark of the brand, the sports exhaust system has two chrome-plated twin tailpipes.
The interior of the E 63 AMG is an exciting blend of high-grade materials and functional sportiness. Exclusive features include the dedicated, electrically adjustable sports seats with improved lateral support and the sports steering wheel in a four-spoke design with shift paddles. The AMG DRIVE UNIT provides adjustments for the MCT sports transmission, the ESP® functions, the suspension set-up and the AMG drive modes. The E-SELECT selector lever in the centre console enables the driver to shift directly between R, N and D simply by nudging the lever, all thanks to drive-by-wire, while the parking lock P can only be selected by pressing a separate button. Standard equipment also includes high-grade leather upholstery in three different colours, the instrument cluster with an AMG main menu, door entry sills with AMG lettering and a sports pedal cluster – both in brushed stainless steel.
The COMAND APS multimedia system (from 3046.40 euros) comes with the latest maps free of charge over a period of three years in 39 European countries. Mercedes-Benz partners are able to carry out map updates on the navigation system during dealership visits. Thanks to the new free map updates, Mercedes drivers using the COMAND APS will be able to reach their destination more reliably and quicker.

Customers requiring even more sporty individuality are catered for by the AMG Performance Studio: the E63 AMG saloon can, for instance, be dynamically enhanced even further ex factory with the Performance package (8270.50 euros). This includes the following:

The flagship AMG model in the E-Class traditionally meets the very highest expectations with respect to active and passive safety. GWA-Tuning is a new name in the business, but the first project they’re presenting is a rather interesting one. It’s a full body kit for the new Mercedes E63 AMG Station Wagon, consisting of modified bumpers, spoiler lip, side skirts, carbon side vents, roof wing, huge rear diffuser and a pair of twin mufflers. The best part of it however, is the new front grille which looks really good.

The body can be garnished with LED and fog lights, a few graphics, and carbon fiber cover for side mirrors and pillars. As for the wheels and tires, GWA is proposing a set of 19X8.5 in front and 20X10 in the rear, in combination with a suspension lowering module which drops the car by a few inches.

The full GWA kit for Mercedes E63 costs up to 22,000 Euros.

American tuner Vorsteiner which specializes in making high-end body kits for high-end cars has released a new aero kit for the 2010 Mercedes E63 AMG. It’s called the V6E and gives the E63 that meaner face it always needed! This kit consists of carbon fiber front add-on spoiler, carbon fiber rear diffuser and carbon fiber deck lid add-on spoiler.

It also comes with Vorsteiner V-308 Sport Concave 3-Piece Forged wheels in black finish.

The engine however remains the same as standard, but that’s OK because the standard engine has 525 hp and 630 Nm of torque which does zero to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and can reach a limited top speed of 250 km/h. It also sounds like an erupting volcano!

The new Mercedes E63 AMG is a discrete executive saloon. But don’t let that calm and classy look fool you! Because that 6.3 liter V8 engine under the bonnet is a complete clown. Just turn the traction control off and see for yourself. Or you can watch this video as Mercedes has done it themselves on Brooklands race track. Seems like a lot of fun, eh?! To experience this you ONLY need 90 grand to get the car and a race track!

As usual VATH picked a monstrously powerful AMG model for their tuning project! This time it’s a 2010 E63 AMG Merc which as standard comes with a 6.2 liter 525 hp V8. But after the VATH treatment, it is turned from an overpowered executive saloon into such a wild animal that the tuner says it’s the right choice for those who like adrenaline rush!

The E63 AMG has now feature a mean dark theme for the exterior thanks to the blacked-out VATH kit consisting of a new grille, carbon front spoiler, boot spoiler lip and a carbon diffuser. Moreover, they have lowered the car’s Airmatic suspension by 30mm, increasing both the visual appeal and road holding.E63′s cabin is also garnished with a carbon interior set and velour floor mats with the embroidered VATH logo.

The braking system is also upgraded with 390 mm brake discs and with 8 pistons fixed caliper. These massive brakes are here for a reason!

The mighty engine of the Mercedes E63 is also tricked out by VATH technicians. The modifications special forged pistons, valves, sports cam shafts, as well as big intake and exhaust valves. In addition, the crank drive has been improved, the cylinder head channels have been enlarged by milling and engine software has been updated.

Therefore it generates 605 hp and 690 nm of torque. The top speed is also increased to 340 km/h, while the 0 to 100 km/h is decreased to 4.1 seconds.

As the finest Mercedes tuner, Brabus has to release at least one upgrade package for every new model, and here’s their take on the new E63 AMG performance saloon. Brabus has already created a monstrous V12 E-class based on the new type W212 model, so with the E63 AMG they decided to control their insane obsession with horsepower, so you only get 555 hp!

The normally aspirated 6.3 liter V8 of the E63 AMG develops 525hp. In the Brabus B63 S, thanks to a light upgrade kit it churns out 555 hp / 408 kW and 650 Nm/479 lb-ft. The conversion consists of two sport air filters, free-flow metal catalysts and newly programmed engine electronics.

The performance of E63 is also improved accordingly, as the 0 to 100 km.h sprint now takes 4.3 seconds and with Brabus’ Vmax unit it has a top speed of 320 km/h or 200 mph. The power is delivered to the ground via a new a limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40 percent.

As usual, the car also comes with a discrete and very cool aerodynamic kit, which in B63′s case includes a new spoiler lip, side skirts, rear diffuser and bootlid spoiler, all made of carbon fiber. Also the front axle BRABUS aluminum sport fenders with lateral air outlets improve venting of the wheel houses and add a decidedly sporty note to the car’s appearance.

As for the interior, BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara upholstery along with wood or carbon fiber trimming create a wonderful place to be in. There are also some other changes like the new speedometer with 360-km/h (225-mph) dial and the very cool stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS logo.

You can always recognize Brabus cars just by looking at the wheels, as they use their own special designs all the time. For the E63 they offer Monoblock VI, E, Q or S wheels in size 9Jx20 on the front axle and in sizes 9.5Jx20 or 10.5Jx20 in back. They are fitted with Pirelli or YOKOHAMA high-performance tires in size 245/30 ZR 20 in front and up to size 295/25 ZR 20 on the rear axle.

The car and all of its components are supported by Brabus renowned warranty of three years, up to 100,000 kilometers / 62,000 miles.

The ultimate businessman’s saloon has now a twin brother for his family affairs! The estate version of the mighty Mercedes E63 AMG is finally revealed setting new standards in its class. E63′s superb performance and comfort is now combined with practicality to make best of both worlds.

Like the sedan, E63 estate is powered by the normally aspirated 6.3 liter V8 engine from AMG which is really a masterpiece. It develops 525 hp and 630 nm of torque and is connected to a seven speed SPEEDSHIFT MCT gearbox, like the one in the SL model, which means this heavy car can rocket to 100kmh from stand still in just 4.6 seconds but the top speed as usual is limited to 250 km/h.

Despite this superior performance Merc E63 AMG uses only 12.8 liter of fuel per 100 km which considering what this car is capable of, is really really good. The car is also equipped with the newly developed AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension, to make sure the car handles like a proper performance car without any compromise on comfort.

The thing that really matters for station wagon cars is the luggage space. And Mercedes does not disappoint here as well. At 695 liters expandable to 1950 liters it has one of the roomiest vehicles in this segment.You also get the same amount of luxury goods inside the cabin in addition to the high tech stuff as you get in the E63 sedan.

The head designer Rolf Schepp transferred the performance of the car to its appearance. Dubai – Mercedes-Benz Middle East and Levant today announced the price of its new luxury sports sedan, the E63 AMG.The segment-leading sedan will sell for just US$ 117,000 and the Middle East & Levant will be one of the first regions worldwide to get the car into its Mercedes-Benz showrooms in September.

“The E 63 AMG will distinguish itself from regular E-Class models with its powerful AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine, the newly developed AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with electronically controlled damping and a new front axle, and with its stand-out exterior and interior design,” said Frank Bernthaler, Director, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East & Levant.

Under the bonnet, the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine develops 525 hp and a torque of 630 newton metres allowing the car to accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

With clear benefits in terms of driving pleasure combined with the same, high level of handling safety, the E 63 AMG offers the three-stage ESP^® familiar from the SL 63 AMG and C 63 AMG enabling individual settings to be selected. The ESP^® button in the AMG DRIVE UNIT allows the driver to choose between “ESP ON”, “ESP SPORT” and “ESP OFF” – with the currently active mode shown in the central display of the AMG instrument cluster. Perfect deceleration even when driving extremely briskly is ensured by the AMG high-performance braking system with 360-millimetre, internally ventilated and perforated brake discs all-round.

The jaw-dropping new Mercedes E63 AMG is eagerly waiting for its launch to take the market by storm and teach a good lesson to all of them sports saloons out there with its 525hp rumbling V8, which is the most powerful amongst its rivals and is also the most powerful E-class ever made. Now Mercedes has just announced its European price and, well it’s a bit high!

But then it should be, because this is a lot of car. Its 6.2 liter normally aspirated V8 is capable of 525 hp and 630 nm of torque which can take you from zero to 100 in 4.5 seconds in absolute comfort and while the other rivals stops at 250 this E63 keeps going right up to 300 km/h. Of course removing the limiter is an extra option which you have to ask for, but hey!

The car is also lighter, nimbler and more agile than the previous model, you get three settings (Comfort, Sport and Sport plus) for the electronic suspension, so handlingwise it’s almost there to be as good as a sports car, given the weight and all the luxury onboard. Also  because of this lightness and with help of other fuel saving technologies, the E63 is one of the most economical cars in this segment. It averages 12.6 liters per 100km/h which is fantastic considering the performance it delivers. You can order the same sort of ceramic braking package they use for the SLR supercar  for E63 which are so powerful that it hurts more braking than actually having the accident you are trying to avoid!

Already there is a huge demand for this car and people are queuing up to put their name down to get one, but it won’t hit the showroom floor until August with a price tag of 105,791 Euros.

The new AMG performance version of the new E-class saloon has just been revealed and now this! Spy pictures of the coupe version. The E63 Coupe, possibly the replacement for the CLK 55 AMG, or a new Black Series car.

These pictures are taken by a reader of Car magazine in Spain, and as the guys from the mag point out, the cover on this car is a bit strange, because the new E-class Coupe is fully revealed so is the E63 sedan. So either the styling of this coupe is very different from the sedan version or this is a special edition, like an E-coupe Black Series.

We can’t wait to realize what the heck is this!

No more teasing, no more playing games! Mercedes takes the wraps off the new W212 based E63 AMG super saloon. A 525 hp monster which can be considered as the ultimate sedan for the ultimate middle-aged man!

The AMG-powered E-Class has always had a secret coolness whit it, a charisma that make it so desirable. It looks discreet and yet is  so powerful that can take on Ferraris and Lambos and beat them badly! The new E63 too, seems to have all the bases covered.

As mentioned earlier it’s got 6.3 liter AMG V8 which checks out 525 hp 465lb ft of torque. Connected to the speedshift MCT transmission, it does 0-100 in 4.5 seconds but as always restrained at 250 km/h top speed. It uses the same sort of suspension as the SL63 which unlike the previous generation of AMG cars is much more responsive and have settings for comfort or sporty driving which actually work! and is not there just for showing off.

Good thing is you can’t really tell this is a such a monstrous car by looking at it. On the surface it looks pretty similar to the normal E-Class with AMG sport pack. But the minute you start it and hear that rumbling V8 you realize this is no ordinary sedan. Of course the usual AMG recipe applies here, sportier aprons, a pair of twin exhausts, flared wheel arches and fabulous wheels.

The new 2010 Mercedes Benz E63 AMG will cost around 80,000 Euro, which is a lot! specially for a discreet sedan, but then this is a lot of car.

Looks like that the new Mercedes Benz E63 AMG has won a prize in Germany long before it’s released! It’s been picked as the sport car of 2009 between 260 vehicles divided in 16 series and 10 tuning categories.

The car is not yet revealed, fully! but as you see above some nice guy from Mercedes let us catch a glimpse! Of course we are familiar with AMG upgrades, things like new sportier aprons, double twin exhausts, lower firmer suspension and AMG designer wheels … , but the best thing is what’s under the bonnet. A 6.3 liter muscular V8 which checks out 525 HP. However, this mouth-watering package won’t come cheap, expect a price tag of over 80,000 euros.
