Harry Metcalfe, for those of you who don’t know, is Evo magazine’s founder and editorial director, and he’s got a very amazing garage. It’s not as busy Jay Leno’s, but it contains some very interesting items. One of them is this 2002 Pagani Zonda 7.3 C12S. This is a very special car, as it was the first Zonda press car in the UK. It’s been at every car magazine and TV show. It is the one Jeremy Clarkson drove on the very first episode of the new Top Gear.

In this review, which is actually from summer 2010, Harry gives you an in-depth look at his Zonda.

Here’s an epic video of a super rare Zonda Cinque cruising streets of Singapore at night, tearing the city in half with exhaust noise and speed!

I know it is illegal and unsafe doing this on public roads, but let’s be honest this is much more fun and much more exciting than lapping even the best of the race tracks. That’s the whole point of a supercar.

There are other supercars involved in this night cruise including a couple of Lambos and a Ferrari with the cameraman onboard, but the Zonda is the real star of the show. Just see how it bangs and spits flames on upshifts. Marvelous.

This thing you see above is not something out of the Transformers movie. It is just a Pagani Huayra that had its doors and hood open. The latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage features one of the most remarkable cars ever built, Pagani Huayra. To go through details of this magnificent machine, Jay is joined by Horacio Pagani himself and his production manager. Did you know Horacio can’t speak English very well?! I also didn’t know the side mirrors on Huayra are inspired by a woman’s eye. It’s not so much car design as it is painting an art masterpiece.

Horacio Pagani himself takes his time to explain how to use the Huayra’s magnificent car key. It is not so much a key, as an artistic sculpture this thing. EVO gets another opportunity to ride in the super Pagani Huayra – they were there when the car was first revealed too – and this time they ride with the company boss Horacio Pagani himself. Mr. Pagani shows off some features of the car including the uber-cool aerodynamic flap things at the back. His million euro V12 hyper car is indeed one of the greatest cars in the history of automobile, but it will also be remembered as the one with the worst name. Oh, no, wait, SSC Tuatara is worse!

Well, it’s not exactly what you call interesting, but I’m sure fans of the Huayra would love to see a prototype in exposed carbon fiber! This car is apparently coming out of Pagani headquarters going for a little test drive. Not sure it’s a customer car, or a testbed for a future special edition or something, but the engine sounds kinda different than ones we’ve heard so far. Anyhow, recently Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari FF totally obscured the Huayra in the headlines, so it’s good to see and hear it again.

Here’s the full footage of Pagani Huayra video at the Adria International Raceway. A while back Marchettino released a video of the car at the track, but it was just four minutes of exhausts noise! Which was brilliant. But this one includes much more than that. You get to see the car’s interior, engine bay, plus lots of revving, acceleration and fly-bys. We are still most amazed by the sound of that AMG V12 though. That savage bellow which is accompanied a dignified snort on upshifts. They’ve clearly worked on this a lot.

This video of Pagani Huayra has been shot at the Adria International Raceway by the famous Youtubist Marchettino. They have been down there to shoot an official promo video, but this one is just four and a bit minutes of pure exhaust noise coming from an AMG V12 through four nicely arranged tailpipes. So far in 2011 we had three new supercars unveiled, Ferrari FF, Pagani Huayra, and Lamborghini Aventador. The Lambo really overshadowed the first two, but let’s put the spotlight back on the Pagani and their insane Huayra. The car faced lots of criticism regrading its looks and of course its name, but now after a few months it has kinda grown on most people. Here’s a few new videos of the car courtesy of Marchettino, who filmed it at a fair in Italy. This is apparently a prototype for future special edition Huayras.

We’ve recently shown you a couple of videos of Pagani Huayra at its premiere in Milan and its first photoshoot. They were alright but you have got to check this promo video out because it’s awesome. It is like a trailer for a blockbuster! But then the Huayra deserves such treatment since it is one of the world’s most special cars. In the video you will learn what the name Huayra is all about, but it won’t make it any easier to pronounce. Who cares really! This is an astonishing and a rubbish name can’t ruin it.

Now that the new Pagani Huayra is fully revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, most people who dissed it are now thinking well it’s not that bad after all! The Huayra has a design that will grow on you, almost as fast as the car accelerates. We wish we could say that about the name as well, but Huayra doesn’t sound right no matter what you do to it! Here’s new videos of the car form its world premiere event in Milan at Pirelli HQ a couple of weeks ago. The video shows the real beauty and charm of the new Pagani.

American millionaires are chuffed to bits as the Pagani Huayra is reportedly confirmed for the American market. That means it has passed all the safety and emissions regulations. Something that the late Zonda could never manage properly! Officially entering the American market opens the door to a sea of new opportunities for Pagani, the least of which is selling a couple of million dollar Huayras. The only worry is that Paris Hilton might order a pink one. In that case Horacio Pagani, who is a very cool man, should say Hells No!

This video proves that Pagani Huayra is one of those cars that will grow on you real fast. First pictures didn’t look very good to be honest, then there was the official ones which were a bit better, and now that we can see the car in motion we have to say it is actually very cool! Given the recent leaked pictures Pagani didn’t bother with the fifth teaser video and just dropped official pictures and details of their all-new supercar. Pagani Huayra replaces the Zonda and to all intents and purposes it appears to be an evolution of that car rather than a new model from the ground up.

But that’s alright, after all Zonda is one of the greatest cars of all time and a great base for the new Huayra. As you expect it features more of everything that Zonda offered. It looks even more dramatic, has more power, better craftsmanship, and more luxury.

The first thing you might be struggling with this new Pagani is its name. It’s derived from ancient legends tell of Aymara Huayra Tata, god of wind, which controls the breezes, the winds and hurricanes that affect the mountains, ravines and slopes of the Andean cordillera. It is said that Tata Huayra living in the hills and valleys left them just to show his strength to his wife, Pachamama, the goddess of Mother Earth.

It’s actually quite touching naming this car after a powerful wind, but it’s not as catchy and snappy as Zonda.

The other thing you might be trying to get your head round is the design of the Huayra. Horacio Pagani once said they’ve worked seven years on this design. They clearly wanted to retain Zonda’s iconic features in the new car but giving it a more elegant, muscular presence. And the Huayra is full of character which is cool, but the looks of it apparently is not appealing to everybody.

The moment first pictures of the Huayra hit the web it instantly caused controversy. A lot of people didn’t liked it and expressed their dislike furiously! We actually like it, minus those stupid gullwing doors. They’re not cool on the Mercedes SLS and they certainly not cool on this Pagani.

The Huayra is greatly advanced underneath the body. It features a monocoque spice made of carbon-titanium. The research focused on the application of advanced composite materials and technologies first tested on the Zonda R, to achieve the highest levels of rigidity combined with maximum lightness.

The tank is positioned in the most protected of the camper behind the pilot, reinforced by a safety cell made of different composite materials and ballistics. The suspension work exceptionally well and incorporate an advanced absorption of energy, ready to protect occupants in case of impact.

One of the most incredible figures about this car is the weight. It’s amazing how they managed to keep the weight of this low and wide supercar with its weapons-grade V12 engine in the middle and fancy suspension and everything, fairly low at just 1350 kg. That’s amazing for a car of this type.

A large part of that is due to the lightweight high tech materials that have been used generously wherever needed.

As mentioned may times before, Pagani Huayra is powered by a bespoke Mercedes AMG 6.0 liter 12-cylinder biturbo engine in V formation with astonishing output of 700 hp and a torque of over 1000 Nm.

The turbines are designed to offer an immediate response to the minimum stress of the butterfly, giving the driver complete control over the power at any speed and preventing unwanted delays in disbursement. The two radiators on the sides of the mouth anterior ensure the best cooling efficiency of the intercooler located above the cylinder head. This cooling system at low temperature is designed to operate in adverse conditions of Death Valley with temperatures above 50 ° C.

The dry sump lubrication also feeds the engine when the car is subject to extreme lateral accelerations. Also regulates the oil flow so that only the required quantity of lubricant is pumped into the engine from the external tank, reducing the friction caused by an excessive volume of fluid inside the base. The dry-sump oil pan makes obsolete the conventional one, allowing you to mount the engine and have a lower center of gravity away from less land.

A heat exchanger oil / water reduces engine warm during cold start and keeps the refrigerant and lubricant temperatures stable. Extensive weight reduction programs have resulted in simple yet ingenious solutions. In order to limit as much as possible to pipe connections and the expansion tank is mounted directly on the engine.

Of course you don’ expect this massive car to be economical, but it comes with an 85 liter tank to make life easier for you. The power system in two stages with no return has two power pumps that send fuel to the engine by activating the second pump when needed. To further increase the demand for fuel efficiency is controlled by a microprocessor on each pump, releasing the required amount from the engine control at any particular time.

The titanium exhaust system has been engineered by MHG-Fahrzeugtechnikand is a direct application of technologies racing on a high-performance road car. The hydroformed junctions have been developedto reduce the pressure and ensure a free flow of exhaust gases. Titanium offers a limited role in the silencer while offering reliability Iconel exhaust parts most exposed to high temperatures.

The Huayra comes with a seven-speed sequential gearbox cross and a dual-disc clutch. The adoption of a dual-clutch in oil bath was discarded because it would lead to an increase in weight over 70 kg, negating the advantage of a changed little faster. The entire transmission weighs 96 kg.

It’s not clear yet if they will offer it with a proper manual like the Zonda or not. That AMG V12 works better with an automatic anyway.

Pagani Huayra uses Pirelli P Zero tires, developed, built inside “MIRS” Modular Integrated Robotized System, the department dedicated to producing high-performance tires and designed toensure complete control of the pilot. They are capable of a top speed of 370 km/h and lateral forces of 1.5 G.

The car fully respects the most exacting standards of Europe and the United States in terms of safety and environment. In addition, specific research has been conducted to study the dynamics most often involving this type of car accident. Several cars were used to validate these tests. The survey showed that the evaluations have led us to apply concepts of construction not specifically required by law but how to improve occupant protection.

The interior of the Huayra is a mixture of exquisite style and modern equipments. The driver will find all the primary functions on the steering wheel. The paddles are mounted directly on the steering gear so you can change without taking your hands off the steering wheel.

The seats provide comfort for long journeys but also the lateral support given the enormous lateral forces that the car is able to develop. Driving means driving a Pagani state of the art without forgetting the roots and history. The eye can not dwell on the leather laces and a spinner on the switches, then lost the manual transmission, shiny sculpture that embodies progress and tradition.

The aluminum panel was inspired by the most sophisticated Swiss watches and includes a central multi-function display that shows information relevant driving in sport mode and a trip computer when you select the Comfort mode. The center console aluminum is machined from a single block of anticorodal and inspired by the keys of a clarinet, withpush buttons for controlling the heating and air conditioning.

The central touch screen high-definition multimedia system is the heart of the vehicle for the control of audio functions, satellite navigation, Bluetooth phone and secondary functions.

These magazine scans break the embargo on Pagani Huayra, which was supposed to remain a secret until at least the fifth teaser video! But hey, it was about time for us to see it, right?! Of course these scans does not reveal the car in its full glory, but they’re enough for you to realize the Huayra looks like a monster!

As if the Huayra name was not shocking enough, Pagani surprised us with the looks as well. It is imposing for sure and ticks all the right boxes for an extravagant supercar as it is, but apparently they’ve got a bit carried away in their quest to make the new model more exciting and thrilling than the Zonda. We specially hate those gullwing doors. It’s obvious they’re only there for some added look-at-me ingredient, but they’re so uncool. I’m not saying the Pagani Huayra is ugly, that’d be ridiculous, but it could have been much much better.

Now that car’s been revealed Horacio Pagani might be convinced to drop the official pics and details sooner than scheduled, stay tuned.

The fourth, out of five, teaser video for the new Pagani supercar confirms Huayra as the official name of what we used to call the Pagani C9. In this new video Horacio Pagani himself talks about the new car and calls it Huayra.  Pagani says the Huayra is their wind! Not sure what you make of that, he probably means it has the shape of the wind. But regardless of the name they’ve worked on this car for seven years to make it’s the ultimate supercar in every sense. Hit the jump to see an evolution of the last week’s sketch, it’s no more revealing.

The car will be revealed in full glory at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

The third, out of five, teaser videos for the next Pagani supercar has been released on Deus Venti site and this one, mercifully, is more revealing. It is called the shape of the wind and shows some of the carbon fiber parts around the grilles, head lights, wheels, and the new steering wheel and instrument cluster, which look absolutely awesome. Pagani has also released some sketches of the car giving a clue about the car’s overall shape. You can see that after the jump.

Pagani C9 Huayra or whatever it’s called will be revealed just in time for Geneva Motor Show 2011.

A few videos of the Pagani C9 Huayra prototype have been uploaded to Youtube by carparazzis showing the car out on the road in traffic, in the back alley, on the B roads, you know, very car-like! They have created such a big hype for the new Pagani that we’re starting to think it must be some kind of a spacecraft or something! Anyhow, the C9 or whatever it’s called, is shown here with the least amount of camouflage yet, and boy does it look special. Two more months and we won’t need teasers and spyshots, as the car will be revealed at Geneva Motor Show.
