This is the latest, and yet the best, rendering of the upcoming supercar by Mercedes called the SLS AMG. A car which features a retro-classic shape reviving the legendary Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing with roof hinged doors, short tail and long bonnet with lots of power under it! SLS AMG has passed extensive tests around the globe and is now ready for debut at this year’s IAA Frankfurt Motor Show in September. A year after its launch in 2011, it’ll spawn a roadster version as well.

Unlike Merc’s previous supercar, the SLR, which was a joint project with the British partner McLaren, the SLS is a full blooded Mercedes. It’s not as powerful as the SLR, the 6.3 liter AMG V8 unit in it just turns out 571 hp, but it is light and agile, and best of all it’s got lots and lots of character. And character is what makes a car freezingly cool.

After the Cabrio, Clubman and Crossman this Speedster is going to be the latest variant of the lovely MINI. And you have to say it’s the most desirable one as well! Its simple two seater roadster layout even in the pictures screams sheer driving pleasure! Mazda MX5 now needs a survival plan!

The car looks just right for a MINI Speedster!  It is already a classic design. It’s wider than the normal MINI and with those flared wheel arches, it has the sporty character it needs. Designers, mercifully, kept it simple and straight forward, rather than garnishing it with useless elements it doesn’t need. The fabric roof is a prime example of this, they could give it a folding metal one, but it’d ruin the luggage space and add weight, and weight would ruin the handling, ride and all the joy. Unlike the MX5 however, Speedster’s roof is electric.

The speedster will be built upon the Cabrio platform, that keeps the production costs low and that means the car will be reasonably priced. And it has to be reasonably priced if it wants to become popular. And hopefully it’ll get a heart good enough to live up with its great body. They wouldn’t let the whole thing down with a rubbish engine.

The MINI Speedster will hit the streets in 2011 with prices around £2,000. It’ll certainly be a huge hit!

We thought that the Reventon would be the swan song for the Murcielago series, but then Lamborghini came up with LP670 SV and then LP650 Roadster and now rumor has it that a top less Reventon is coming too!

Although it’s not official, but according to the source it’ll be a very limited edition! only 9 units will be built, all of which have already been booked. The power would come from the same engine as the Super Veloce, the V12 670 hp and 660 Nm of torque. As for the price, well, considering that all 20 units of Reventon coupes have been sold for over 1.5 million euros and they worth more than 2 million each,you can imagine that the roadster would start from 2 million!

Audi has a habit of making a roadster version of every single model they launch! No wonder if they make a Q7 Cabrio! Anyway, the new TT-RS is no exception. The coupe version was revealed at the Geneva Motor show, and the top less model will debut at Leipzig Motor show in Germany next week.

Of course Audi had released all the technical data and pictures of the roadster before. It is powered by the same 5 cylinder turbocharged engine developing 340 hp, but is a bit ,understandably, slower than the coupe. It takes 4.7 seconds to reach 100 km/h and is electronically limited to 250 km/h. However with a bit of tweaking it can reach 280!

It’s got all the ingredients of the hardtop, more aggressive face, lower firmer suspension, bigger brakes, 18 inch rims, a wing and twin tailpipes, to mention a few. But it will be more expensive than the coupe which recently launched in Austria for a whopping 64,000 euros.

Audi also will bring the new Allroad Quattro and R8 V10 to the Leipzig show.

If you think BMW Z4 is too big and you need a smaller drop top Bimmer in your life then this baby is for you! BMW Z2 which is set for 2011 and will a serious opponent for the best of this segment, the Mazda MX-5.  The car is based on the Z4′s platform which has been kinda shortened but unlike the Z4 it only comes with four-cylinder engines.

You have to say it looks fabulous, let’s hope they put it into production the way it is here! The base model will get a 1.8 liter with around 150 hp while the biggest offer is 2.0 liter, but an M version is expected with turbocharged engine and around 300 hp. Also a hybrid variant would be considered as a future plan.

To ensure the maximum driving pleasure the lil Z2 will get active steering and suspension plus the Dual-Clutch gearbox. This sounds very good but has a negative effect on the price as it will somewhere around $30,000 which is a lot for an entry level roadster, specially when you compare it to the Mazda MX-5. Of course Mazda doesn’t come with a BMW badge!!

Honda has recently announced that the S2000 model has come to an end and will not be extended. And now they are making a limited-run Ultimate Edition of the car to mark this event and pay a tribute to their lovely roadster. The Ultimate  is mechanically the same as the normal S2000 but features a Grand Prix white scheme and red leather interior with numbered plaques. This car will be the last of a Honda S2000 dying breed, so if you always wanted one here’s your last chance, hurry up! The car will come to Geneva Motorshow March 3.

German Sportscar maker Wiesmann announced a new version of their roadster with a 4.0 liter V8 engine which belongs to BMW M3 E92 and develops 420 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The new lizard can be had with either a manual 6-speed  or bimmer’s new 7-speed dual clutch auto, which might be more sophisticated but nothing can replace the joy of manual shifting in a powerful sportscar. The GT MF4-S starts at 128,800 euros while the previous version with 367 hp is still available for 119,800 euros. Wiesmann also had presented an extreme version of the car with M5′s V10 at 2007 frankfurt Autoshow.

Behold everyone! This is one of the best looking cars to be launched in 2009. The Audi R8 Spider. Of course it is still a long time for it to come, possibly at Paris Motorshow, but for sure a preview would come much sooner. Meanwhile, take a look at these two gorgeous pictures! Spider will launch with the V8 engine as the 2010 model, but possibly the a V10 powered variant would follow afterward. Apparently, the R8 lose sits famous side panels in transformation to the roadster and will only be available with retractable fabric top, folding metal roof is not a possibility here!

After getting covered on Top Gear, Japanese car maker Mitsuoka is developing its fame for making British wanna be rubbish cars, like Mitsuoka Galue which is supposed to be Japan’s Rolls Royce! Their latest try is the hideous Himiko which desperately wants to be a Morgan Aero!

It is based on a Mazda MX-5 with retractable hardtop and while exterior is totally revised with Morgan in mind, the interior remained almost completely unchanged. The MX5 itself is a very nice mid-range sports roadster with qualities really close to old school British sporty, and combining that with the classic look of a Morgan seems fine at first glance, but Mitsuka’s recipe does not look so delicious. Although the car is fairly sophisticated but just consider the message you will be sending driving this car around! Oh GOD!

Very limited edition drop top version of Ferrari Scuderia, called 16M for Ferrari’s 16th world title, debuts at Bologna Motorshow. Only 499 units of this high performance roadster will be built. Check out details and pictures HERE

Jaguar’s parent company TATA Motors confirmed plans to expand the successful XF range, adding a four-seat roadster variant and a coupe version following. There’s been rumors about Jaguar working on mid-size roadsters but this drop top saloon is totally based on XF platform and will definitely make it to production featuring current engine range including the supercharged V8. Price is expected to be in £35,000 range, as Jaguar is not looking to compete with its own XK series!

The XF is a very good looking car, so any variant is most welcome.

American tuners are very good at making such things, very cool looking high performance concepts, but useless! Anyway, this Challenger SRT8 roadster by Group Five Limited will be on display at SEMA show in Vegas next week. Based on these renderings Challenger roadster also has modified front and rear bumper and customized bonnet, new tail lights and exhaust pipes, and it has only two seats. This might be only for showing off, but just imagine the pleasure of driving such ride! this is California luv!
