The new season of the world’s most watched motoring show is back on TV again and by the looks of things it seems to be the best series they’ve ever done. But for us it’s a bit more special because for the first time the whole crew come to UAE to play around with a convoy of highly exotic materials!

They lock out Corniche Road in Abu Dhabi for a battle of the giants! Lamborghini Murcielago SV, Mercedes SLR 722, Bugatti Veyron and a Mclaren F1 are the contenders. And they just couldn’t leave UAE without having an ultimate safari trip in a desert bashing off-roader such as Bowler Nemesis. Of course, there might be even more…!

Apparently next week’s show is when the Top Gear UAE special will be aired, and to get a taste of what to expect, AllCarZone has some scans of Top Gear’s magazine. Well, that’s what Top Gear’s transmission blog says! Tomorrow night the first episode of the new series 13 of Top Gear, the most coveted car show in the world, will be aired and they say it’s gonna be the best thing ever played on television! It certainly is, but The Stig revealing his identity? You think that’s such a good idea? We know and like him the way he is, and unmasking him would kill all the fun. I don’t care how plays Stig’s role, I just wanna see him hot-lapping supercars! That’s all! But of course this being Top Gear they probably have thought of something truly extraordinary, so it very well can double the fun! A rumor has spread in the web that Stig is the great Michael Schumacher himself! It’s a big claim, but after all, nothing’s impossible! We’ll find out tomorrow Sunday June 21 on BBC2. DON’T MISS IT!

The Mole’s not usually one for open self-congratulation, but since claiming yesterday on this very blog that tomorrow night’s telly show is ‘going to be the best thing that’s ever been on television ever‘, Jeremy has spilled a bean or two about the programme that makes me, well, right.Clarkson has revealed in his Sun newspaper column today that Stig finally shows the world his face.

He said ‘the Stig barges into the studio and in an atmosphere you could cut with a knife, removes his helmet’.

‘As a television moment, it’s up there with Neil Armstrong walking on… the corpse of JR Ewing.’

So, if you needed any more persuasion to tune in at 8pm tomorrow night on BBC 2, this is it.

Well, because it’s Top Gear even these teaser videos count! In this second trailer little Clarkson, May and Hammond give us another sneak preview of the season 13. First episode of the new series will be on air this coming Sunday June 21 on BBC2 and it’ll include one of those TG’s epic races, this time between a train, a car and a bike. Jezza will drive the train! Also a Lotus Evora and a Ferrari FXX are hanging around the Top Gear base.

The wait is almost over as the world’s best motoring show,Top Gear is coming back on telly in less than two weeks. Unfortunately there will be only seven episodes in this new series, rather than the usual ten it used to be in the early days but it’ll be pure motoring  joy all the way! Specially as they come to UAE for the first time and go berserk with some really high-end supercars. The producer Andy Wilman has already blogged about the upcoming series, describing it as “The Same Old ****” ! Read it in full after the jump…

It’s Back! The Waiting is Over! This Summer’s Blockbuster is Here! Be Afraid… etc etc. The reason I’m borrowing so many tired and tested one liners from your local multiplex foyer is quite simple: I’m trying to distract viewers from what the title of the actual film would be, were this new series an actual film. It would be Top Gear 13, which sounds like something with Dolph Lungdren in it, or bad hotel porn.

Using maths, I’ve calculated that the next series will be called Top Gear 14, and that’s even worse.

So I’ve come up with a genius plan; instead of going forwards, we’re going to make the next series a prequel. It’s working brilliantly for Star Trek, Batman and The Terminator, so why can’t we do the same?

I think viewers would be fascinated to know which Christmas it was when James’s mum gave him that pink striped jumper. They would love to see Jeremy shout “Powerrrrrrrrrrr!” during his driving test, and they would be equally rivetted to witness Richard staring at the pencil marks on the Height Chart in his bedroom and muttering “bollocks!”.

In the meantime though, you’re stuck with the well-known formula, which means that over the coming seven-week series run a race or two will occur, supercars will slide from the left of your telly screen to the right of your telly screen in a cloud of tyre smoke, and a man in a white coat bearing a gold envelope will trigger a series of comedic and juvenile adventures.

Please don’t worry about the familiarity though, because I, the most grumpy, pessimistic, glass-half-empty Producer in television, am really looking forward to this series.

Obviously back in March when we were gearing up to film, I was moaning about how we’d dried up, how people will see through us this time, one-trick pony blah blah, and then one night, I had an epiphany, which happened not in a pentecostal church but at the O2 Arena.

Basically Hammond, May and I went to see AC/DC, and there they were, nine thousand years old, still making your ears bleed with the same pulverising ferocity they managed three decades ago, and you think to yourself, it doesn’t matter if your pony has one trick as long as it does that trick really, really well, and more importantly, it really cares every time it performs that trick. And immodestly, I can say to you all, we still really, really care about what we do.

The fire we have inside about giving you good telly burns as fiercely as it did in 2002. So sit back and enjoy Top Gear 13, the same old shit.
