Toyota announced pricing details of the UK-spec 2012 Land Cruiser. Going on sale from 1 March, it is priced at £62,285.

For your 62 grand you’ll be getting a mildly revised design which looks pretty much the same as before, the same 4.5-litre V8 turbodiesel engine – which now features particulate filter (DPF) and new fuel injectors in the common rail system – and six-speed automatic transmission. It makes 268bhp (200kW) and maximum torque of 650Nm.

That doesn’t sound like enough to move the absolutely huge Land Cruiser around with ease. But it comes with a couple of advanced off-road features that will help it get out of its own way. They include:

• The world’s first Turn Assist, reducing the vehicle’s turning radius when driving through tight off-road bends
• Crawl Control, with five speed settings for tackling steep climbs or descents
• Multi-terrain Select, with five selectable modes to tailor vehicle performance to different off-road conditions
• Multi-terrain Monitor, providing a 360-degree view of the area immediately around the vehicle via four external cameras
• Tyre Angle Display, displayed together with the predicted tyre path guidelines on the Multi-terrain Monitor, showing changes in steering angle between zero and 45 degrees
• Variable Flow Control power steering, with a unique, dedicated off-road setting

The UK-spec Land Cruiser comes as standard with Toyota Touch Pro, an advanced multimedia and navigation system with a digital tuner, Bluetooth and a rear-view camera. Featuring an 8-inch touchscreen, it also delivers on-board internet connectivity, using a compatible mobile phone and registration via a Toyota customer portal. A premium in-car entertainment package can be specified as an option.

Other notable features include new, air conditioned/heated front seats, a central cool box, heated steering wheel and all-round improvements to the quality and appearance of the trims and finishes.

UK customers can choose from eight exterior colours, including two new to the model range: Pearl White and Pure White.

When you sell massive numbers of a car for over 60 years in 188 countries, you don’t change the recipe, you just tweak it. That is the case with the Toyota Land Cruiser.

The new 2013 version of this iconic SUV has been unveiled by Toyota, featuring a mildly revised styling, the same engine as before, and remarkably enhanced specifications.

Styling changes are quite subtle, and consists mainly of LED Daytime Running Lights, chrome side molding, redesigned outer side mirrors and tail lamps. Toyota Land Cruiser is available in seven exterior colors, including Pearl White, which is new to the palette. Additional colors include Classic Silver Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Salsa Red Pearl, Sonora Gold Pearl, Amazon Green Metallic and Black.

As for the interior, while the design remains the same, quality and refinement is significantly improved. You can have it in Sandstone or Black, as with features like perforated leather trim with ventilated front seats, a higher gloss wood grain finish, brighter silver instrument panel ornamentation, chrome-plated air registers and updated meter-cluster lighting.

Among the many popular features that were formerly available as options, but are now standard, are rear-seat DVD entertainment system, color-keyed rear spoiler, rain-sensing windshield wipers, center-console cooler box, headlamp cleaners, leather-trimmed steering wheel, multi-information display, voice and Bluetooth® hands-free controls, leather-trimmed shift lever and heated second row seats. Toyota’s Premium Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Navigation with Entune multi-media system and JBL® audio is also standard.

The Land Cruiser’s 5.7-liter V8 DOHC engine remains unchanged in the 2013 model, with 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. A new five-speed CRAWL Control with an Off-Road Turn Assist feature helps make traversing difficult terrain easier.

One great new feature of the car is the Entue system, an eight-inch touch/spilt-screen with an integrated backup camera display, AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, 14 JBL speakers including subwoofer, SiriusXM Satellite Radio capability (includes three-month trial subscription to XM Select Package); HD Radio with iTunes Tagging, USB port with iPod connectivity and control, vehicle information, hands-free phone capability, phone book access, advanced voice recognition, and music streaming via Bluetooth wireless technology.

The mighty Land Cruiser is still the king.

Toyota released the new facelifted version of the Land Cruiser in the Japanese Domestic Market with a few visual changes.

This iconic off-roader will also reach UK and US markets. In America it will be rebadged as the Lexus LX570.

The new styling details include a revised front fascia and headlights, a bolder grille, new LED lights, new design side steps, and new design for taillights. The car also gets new wheels available from 18 to 20-inch wheels and bigger side mirrors with LED indicators.

The interior and the 320-hp V8 engine remain the same. They are pretty good at what they do, so why change them. In Japan the car will be available in three GX, ZX and AX trim levels.

That’s about it for the 2012 Land Cruiser! It is still a serious SUV though, rugged, powerful and full of character. This car also has a smaller brother, the Prado. That is a fine choice if you can’t live the sheer size of the LC.

Based on these brochure images, the mighty Land Cruiser gets a new front apron and an even bolder grille, LED headlights, new side steps and side mirrors, and revised rear-end design.

The interior design remains the same but gets new luxury accents such as wooden steering wheel and trims, aluminum accents, and a new instrument cluster.

The Land Cruiser is starting to look a bit old now, but Toyota is struggling to change it altogether because it still works. The car is one of the most iconic models they make and they should be careful with it.

Europeans don’t like the Toyota Land Cruiser maybe because it’s too big for their taste, and that’s why there are not that many tuning packages for this car. In fact the only one worth mentioning is the WALD’s kit but that doesn’t count because that tuner is form Japan! Now though a German tuner has come up with something for it.

We are talking about the Delta 4×4. They give the Land Cruiser a bunch of new bits in hope to make it more interesting. The car gets revised bumpers which are protected by steel bars in front and rear. There’s also steel side steps and chrome exhaust pipes here.

The Cruiser’s ground clearance is also improved thanks to Delta’s 23-inch wheels which can be had in different designs with 305/40 tires.

Because this package is for the Europe, they’ve picked the diesel variant which is powered by a V8 engine developing 286 hp and 650 nm of torque, and then tuned it up to 322 hp and 720 nm.

Delta also offer a high performance braking package to cope with the extra power, but at 6660 Euros it’s not worth it. I’d rather crash!

Toyota has announced official pricing on the 2010 redesigned Land Cruiser Prado model in the British market. For the time being the car is only offered as a 5-door model and 5 or 7 seats configuration available in three trim levels: LC3, LC4 and LC5, equipped with a revised 171bhp 3.0-liter D-4D engine and a five-speed automatic transmission, starting from £29,795 going up to £44,795.

The new Prado facelift is slightly bigger than its predecessor and comes with a long list of standard and optional features in terms of luxury, technology and off-road performance.

New Land Cruiser introduces a series of advanced but user friendly features that help the driver tackle even the most challenging routes. These include: -  Electrically modulated Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), which minimises body roll and gives positive steering on-road, and increases wheel articulation off-road.
Full-time All-wheel drive with Torsen limited slip differential.
Multi-Terrain Select (MTS), with four driver-selectable modes to tailor vehicle settings for different off-road conditions.
Multi-Terrain Monitor, a world-first system of front and side view cameras that give the driver a real-time view of areas immediately around the vehicle that can’t be seen from the wheel.
Crawl Control, which controls the engine and brakes to maintain a slow, safe speed when driving off-road or wading, so the driver only needs to concentrate on steering. This operates in both forward and reverse gears.
Active Traction Control (A-TRC), Multi-Terrain ABS and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) are fitted as standard on all models.

The car is also very well equipped even in the basic LC3 model where you get things like 17-inch alloys, roof rails, fog lamps, climate control, cruise control, Bluetooth and Smart Entry and Start system. Then on the LC4 you will find triple-zone climate control, 18-inch wheels, powered folding third row seats, leather upholstery, electrically adjustable heated front seats, dusk-sensing headlights, auto-dimming rear-view mirrors, rear parking monitor, 17-speaker JBL premium audio package and a hard disc drive (HDD) navigation system with a 10GB sound library.

The LC5 trim level as the top of the range model has Adaptive Variable Suspension with Active height Control, sunroof, Crawl Control, Multi-terrain Monitor, Steering Angle Display, Multi-terrain Select and a rear seat entertainment system for DVD playback and gaming in addition to the mentioned features above.

Personally, I can’t remember any aftermarket tuning package for Toyota’s mighty Land Cruiser, but anyhow, Wald has a plan to break its virginity with a new Black Bison bodykit!

Of course modifying a king size SUV which has a bit of off-road characteristics as well by sport bumpers and AMG style exhausts and big rear wing and big wheels and narrow street tires simply means ruining the car, but it’s a new experience after all. You have to say the result is a cool car.

Well yea, it’s not a gangsta Caddy Escalade, it’s still a Toyota!, but I can think of one market which will embrace this car well, UAE. In this country having at least one Land Cruiser is a must for every family, so the younger one would drool for this sport Black Bison! Think of it as a Range Rover Sport for those who can’t afford one!
