Didn’t know Scirocco R-Cup is actually so popular! They’ve just launched a live-streaming iPhone app that lets you watch the races, live, wherever you are. Even F1 doesn’t have that!

The app, available for iPod Touch as well, also includes news about the series, tracks and drivers as well as photos, videos, results and the latest points standings. This is a very good application for the fans of this racing series, and should catch on with other series as well. Seeing as most, well all, races are held on Sundays, and chances are you are out having fun with friends and family that day, unless you are a nerd and stayed at home to watch a car race, apps like this are brilliant.

As a DTM partner series, the Scirocco R-Cup continues at the Nürburgring ahead of the UK round at Brands Hatch next month.  Joining the line-up of regular ‘Junior’ and ‘Pro’ racers on the grid will be German rally racers Uwe Nittel and Niki Schelle as well as two junior rally stars, Christian Riedemann and Hans Weijs Jnr who will contest the ADAC Rallye Deutschland later this month as Volkswagen Motorsport continue preparations ahead of the Polo R WRC making its debut in the World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2013

The new Generation VW Scirocco which has been revived after many years of absence was indeed one of the most successful resurrections in the automotive history. This magnificent car also has a great customization potential.

Which is why after three years in the market, tuners can still come up with fresh ideas for modifying it. Here’s what Nurnberg-based tuner CSR Automotive has come up with to create a unique Scirocco.

Their body kit includes a single-frame front grille, side skirts and a rear apron from the O-Line-Design, the upper and lower rear wings, “bad-look” headlight trims and a stainless steel rear silencer with suitable outlets. What’s a pity is those carbon-look bits on the body which are actually foil and not real carbon. That’s uncool, but then using real carbon fiber would have raise the cost of the car beyond affordability.

For the wheels, they went to Schmidt Revolution and picked their insane Cirrus rims with carbon-look parts. These turbine-design wheels come in size 8.5×20″ with 235/30 ZR20 tires from Toyo at the front or 10.5×20″ with 285/25 ZR20 at the rear axles. Not sure sure if they’re very pretty, but they’re certainly unique. A complete set costs 3400 Euro.

Even the finest tuners admit the VW Scirocco is so cool and good looking that it’s a hard job coming up with a styling kit that doesn’t ruin it! So for their new package JMS went for a subtle kit kits and tried to improve the car on a deeper level. They also called for some help from Barracuda wheels.

The handsome Scirocco gets a set of 19” Barracuda rims with 235/35 R19 tires in shiny chrome, which to be honest doesn’t go well with the sporty character of the car. A matt black finish would have been sweeter. Still, this set costs 2049 Euro. Complementing the wheels is the special coilover kit from H&R that drops the car by 45mm at front and 40mm at the back and costs 1069 Euro.

The other part of JMS classic tuning program for VW Scirocco is the special stainless steel Eisenmann rear muffler with four round tips, which they say will also give a little ore torque and power. And the body kit consists of a Racelook front lip spoiler for 239 Euro and a rear carbon diffuser for 259 Euro.

The Volkswagen Scirocco and Passat CC are, without a shadow of doubt, the most interesting cars with VW badge! Now the Germans have added yet another great quality to the list of features for these models, and that’s superb efficiency. And this being Volkswagen means they get the BlueMotion technology for better fuel consumption with the least compromise on performance.

The Scirocco BlueMotion is based on the 2.0-litre 140 PS engine and comes with Stop/Start and battery regeneration systems to help to create the cleanest and most fuel efficient Scirocco to date.  It can be had with a six-speed manual or optional six-speed DSG gearbox.

The fuel economy for this model is significantly improved from 55.4 mpg to 62.8 mpg on the combined cycle (51.4 to 57.6 DSG), while the emissions are also reduced accordingly, down from 134 g/km to 118 g/km (145 to 129 DSG). The 2.0-litre TDI 170 PS engine fitted to the Scirocco GT is also tweaked recently to deliver 1 mpg better fuel economy!

The Passat CC also benefits from a BlueMotion engine, and that makes it one of the most interesting options for those looking for an exceedingly stylish four-door sedan with a super economical engine, lots of equipment and a fair price.

The 2.0-litre TDI 140 PS Passat CC models achieve a combined 60.1 mpg, up from 50.4, and CO₂ emissions are cut to just 125 g/km, down from 146 g/km.  The more powerful 2.0-litre diesel engine in the range producing 170 PS also boasts improved figures with economy up to 57.6 mpg (51.4 DSG) and emissions down to 129 g/km (144 DSG).

When it comes to keyless entry, VW prefers an all-in-one solution, they call it the KESSY which stands for Keyless Entry Start and Exit System. Normally this system is fitted to high-end luxury models such as the Phaeton, but now you may also order it for cars of lower class, A segment, including Golf, Scirocco or Tiguan for just 355 euros. That’s a price worth paying because it saves you a lot of hassle.

Here’s how it works:

If a vehicle is equipped with “KESSY”, it can be opened via radio remote control and the engine may be started by pressing a button installed to the right of the steering wheel. The details: as soon as a driver enters a radius of approximately 1.50 metres around the vehicle, the transmitter is identified by the proximity sensors in the door handles and by a radio impulse sensor in the key housing. Touching the door handles or the logo on the boot lid automatically unlocks the vehicle. The release of the steering lock and the ignition of the engine, both necessary before the start of the journey, can be carried out using pure electronics and without a key in the ignition lock. The engine can be started by pressing the starter button. After leaving the vehicle, the driver can lock the vehicle by simply pressing the small lock button located on the exterior door handles.The KESSY system was originally developed for the Phaeton and emphasises the Volkswagen strategy of making luxury-class top innovations accessible to the smaller vehicle segments and, therefore, all customers.

The latest version of the VW Scirocco, which is the third generation of the car, has been one of the most successful resurrections of all time in automotive history. Even though it’s basically a Golf underneath, the Scirocco is a much hotter car thanks to the feature that always made it great, fabulous looks. In white, this car looks like the Stig’s helmet! how cool is that. And today at their Portugal plant, VW is celebrating production of the 100,000th Scirocco.

“The Scirocco is one of the most important cars that we produce. For myself personally, it was a moving moment”, said Andreas Hinrichs, Autoeuropa Plant Manager.The celebrated model is a Scirocco R 2.0 TSI, in Rising Blue Metallic, with a Titan Black interior, radio navigation system, Park Pilot and a tilting sunroof. In southern Portugal, with 3,000 employees, Volkswagen produces the Volkswagen Eos, the new Sharan and, since 2008, the third generation of the Scirocco.

With its attractive design and sporty appearance, the Scirocco leaves a lasting impression. In 2008, it swept up the AutoBILD Design Award and was named Car of the Year by Top Gear magazine. The Scirocco is looking just as good in motor sports as it does on the open road: already in 2008, the racing version of the new Scirocco occupied top ranks at the 24-hour race at the N?rburgring. In its first time at the competition in 2009, the Scirocco GT24-CNG (natural gas) won in the alternative-drive class.

RDX Racedesign has come up with a new and affordable body kit for VW Scirocco. At front you notice a new mesh grille, spoiler lip, and a sporty front grille. This Scirocco looks much cooler because it’s closer to the ground mainly thanks to the side skirts and of course those big wheels. The back-end of the car is also revamped with a roof spoiler, a mesh-grilled diffuser and twin tailpipes.

This car you see here is how a modern day VW Corrado would look like! It’s the brain child of Miranda Media’s artist Patrick Moczarsky. Apparently based on Scirocco, the car retains some of the classic Corrado cues but also get new trendy features such as spoiler lip and diffuser.This could actually make VW to revive the Corrado as well. They did the Scirocco and it was quite successful, so why not…!

In 2010 VW will offer the lovely Scirocco with the award winning 1.4 TSI engine from the Golf, as an entry-level model for the British market. This engine is known for delivering good performance while being really efficient and fairly clean. It develops 122 hp and 200 nm of torque, and returns 6.4 liters/100km (44 MPG) and 146 g/km of CO2.

However if you are looking for performance, this is not the car for you. 0 to 100 km/h in this takes 9.7 seconds and it has a top speed of only 200 km/h. So if you want a fast Scirocco you are much better off with a 2.0 liter TFSI engine.

Pricing for Scirocco 1.4 TSI starts at £18,860 and for that you also get a decent amount of kits. It comes standard with six airbags, six-CD changer stereo with iPod connectivity, rain and light sensors, air conditioning, multifunction steering wheel and 17-inch Donington alloy wheels. It also has ABS and ESP by default.

Yes! here’s another tuned Scirocco, but don’t despair because it’s a good one. The Black Rocco is a creation of MR Car Design and it pays more attention to the content rather than the looks. The 2.0 liter TSI engine of the Scirocco which has 265 hp as standard is deeply modified to give 370 hp and 519 nm of torque! So this handsome car officially graduates fro a hatchback to a full blooded sportscar.

To get 370 hp out of a 2.0 liter engine, MR tuners has implemented lots of changes. They’ve added a Stage 3 turbo kit and a sport exhaust system which also gives the car a magnificent roar, optimized ECU software as well as backpressure and also changed the DSG-gearbox controller to cope with the extra power and the new 35% fins limited slip differential.

With this new technical stuff the Black Rocco should have no problem putting all of its power down to the ground, but to make sure even further, the tuner gives it extra fat 235/30 ZR20 performance tires wrapped around 20-inch wheels. It also gets KW’s V3-coilovers which improves the car’s road behavior.

And finally a body kit from Rieger consisting of a front apron, side skirts , rear valance accretion with diffuser optics completes this awesome package. The whole body gets a sporty foliation and places with the expressive design elements an extra optic highlight.

This year at Nurburgring 24 hours race VW introduced a CNG-powered Scirocco in GT2 class. The car’s successful debut gave them the idea to come up with a one-make racing series for this car to promote a new and green form of motorsport! This compressed natural gas-powered Scirocco has a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine from the TSI series with direct injection, which in the cup version produces 270 hp and is equipped with a six-speed sequential gearbox. The road going versions of VW’s Bio-CNG-powered cars are actually even more efficient than a hybrid vehicle.

With a CO₂ reduction of up to 80 per cent Volkswagen demonstrates that major innovative strides are still possible in motorsport. Following the successful debut of the compressed natural gas-powered Scirocco GT24-CNG at the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring, an entire one-make cup has now been designed to enable eco-friendly motorsport. The cup version of the Bio-CNG Scirocco fitted with a two-litre turbo engine delivers up to 199 kW (270 hp). Member of the Volkswagen Executive Board for Technical Development Dr Ulrich Hackenberg is proud of the Bio-CNG Scirocco: “Our TSI engines in combination with our DSG gearbox technology stand for a symbiosis of sporty handling and economy. When, on top of that, a CO₂ reduction of 80 per cent is achieved in combination with Bio-CNG, it is safe to say that this is the most eco-friendly one-make cup in the world. I had the chance myself to see how sporty such a car feels back at the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring. Bio-CNG now adds an exceptionally high CO₂ reduction as another benefit, which opens up outstanding prospects for motorsport.”

Another day and another tuning package for the VW Scirocco, this time by JMS. And this one is actually the coolest we’ve seen so far! Not only it looks ‘ready to attack’ , they have fitted a new exhaust system which gives the Scirocco an angry bark to match its angry face! It’s a bad boys Scirocco! It’s the Caddy Escalade of hatchbacks!

JMS has stayed away from those ostentatious boy racer bodykits and instead offers you a macho kit which is classy, discrete and sporty. Front spoiler lip, side skirts, and a rear diffuser are new parts for the exterior.

A tuning package is always incomplete without some serious lowering! So JMS drops the car by 5 inches at front and 4.5 at the back by using H&R coilovers. So far the Scirocco looks 200 percent better than the standard version. But the final and most important part to improve styling is the choosing the right rims.  JMS installs absolutely magnificent 19 inch Oxigin wheels which are 8.5 inch wide at front and covered with 225/35 rubber and at the back 9.5 inch wide with 255/30.

And the final stage of this kit is the fitment of new Eisenmann mufflers which not only produce a sporty noise, they also increase the power by 4 horsepower!!

It’s amazing how cooler a car can become simply by some extra parts, suspension lowering and a set of nice wheels. We are really approve of this sorta tuning, macho, sporty and discrete. Well done JMS!

For a reasonable amount of money you can turn your Scirocco into one cool ride! The whole package costs 5236 Euros (2200 Euros of this price is for the wheels!)

JE Design modifies yet another VW Scirocco, but this time it’s diesel only! They’ve picked Scirooco 2.0 TDI and TDI CR and gave both of them extra juice and appeal. The only problem we see here is this horrible green color they’ve used for these press pictures!

As for design and style, JE Design offers a sporty kit which has aerodynamic benefits as well. You see that aggressive front spoiler, side skirts and rear diffuser with central twin exhausts and you know this is a serious car. But when you see those LSD doors you might think it’s a bit too serious because Lambo doors on a VW is not cool, at all.

The 2.0 liter diesel engine of the Scirooco also received some attention and is available in two power stages. First you have the 180 hp (133 kW) and 400 Nm of torque package which is 40hp over the stock model, and for the CR version it’s 205 hp (171 kW) and 410 Nm of torque which about 35 more. The latter can do 0 to 100 in 7.1 seconds and tops 229 km/h.

The times of shaky oil burners are over. But the diesel engine still has a rather stale image. Now JE DESIGN is taking on this prejudice.

The refiner located in Leingarten, Germany enhances the performance of the already agile turbo diesel in the VW Scirocco with an additional control unit by more than twenty-five percent from 140 hp (103 kW) to 180 hp (133 kW). Also the maximum torque increases from 320 to 400 Newton meters at 1,750 to 2,500 rpm respectively. The maximum speed thereby rises from 207 km/h to 213 km/h, and the acceleration from zero to hundred is reduced by 0.9 seconds to 8.4 seconds.

Also for the new 2.0 TDI CR, JE DESIGN offers a performance enhancement of 170 hp (125 kW) to 205 hp (171 kW). With that, the Scirocco then renders a top speed of 229 km/h (serial model: 222 km/h) and accelerates from zero to hundred in 7.1 seconds (serial model: 7.8 seconds). The torque rises to 410 Newton meters (serial model: 350 Nm)

JE DESIGN offers the entire performance pack with assembly for 1,249 Euros (180 hp) and 1,449 Euros (205 hp) including VAT and adds a 12-month warranty.

In order to adjust the appearance to the newly gained power, JE DESIGN has created an entire body kit. The refiner produces these parts in the usual OEM-quality made of high-quality ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene). The CNC-milled material ensures a low weight, perfect fitting accuracy and at the same time, the highest material stability.

The kit for 919 Euros including VAT includes a front spoiler with a center sword in carbon look which already renders a racy glance when the car is still parked. The side skirts with air inlets and a rear skirt attachment which is perfectly adjusted to the other component parts and which is also available in carbon-look renders a powerful profile. A refining kit for gull-wing doors (1,549 Euros) completes the body modification.

The muffler made of stainless steel with two central oval end pipes (899 Euros) renders an earthy sound and an impressive appearance. The muffler comes with an EU-operating license. The lowering springs (299 Euros) which were especially designed for the VW Scirocco, lower the car by 30 millimeters and are combined with serial shock absorbers. In order to fill the wheelhouses adequately, JE DESIGN offers the elegant wheel design Multispoke as a complete wheel set. The wheels are available in the size 8×19 inches in shadow silver (2,810 Euros), or graphite matt / with polished edges (2,930 Euros), both with 235/35 R 19 tires.

The sport program for the VW Scirocco can be immediately obtained directly from JE DESIGN, from car component dealers or from Volkswagen partners.

We’ve seen quit a lot of tuned VW Sciroccos so far and we’ll see plenty more because Scirocco is meant to be a tuner’s car, but only a few of these tricked out cars are jobs well done. This one done by HS Motorsport is probably one of them. It’s called the ‘Remis’ and has 320 horsepower.

Remis stays away from those toyish boyracer looks and instead features a very nice and discrete bodykit. The carbon fiber parts all around the car look just right and those 20 inch black wheels are in perfect harmony with the darkened grille and the blacked out roof.

Scirocco Remis uses H&R professional suspension so sits lower than the standard car and wears 245/30ZR rubber. Brembo brake discs with red calipers are also there to give you more confidence to push the car.

And you got quit a lot of power at your disposal to push the car with! HS Motorsport takes the standard 2.0 liter TFSI engine which develops 200 hp and boost it up to either 290 or 320 hp based to your order. They also install a performance exhaust system with four 76mm tailpipes so it sounds as good as it looks.

And HS finishes the package with an interior treatment. Recaro seats are installed in front and rear with leather upholstry in black which makes a nice contrast with the white stitches and decorations. In fact Scirocco Remis is a black n white beauty!

After some rounds of spyshots the curtain is finally dropped on the hotted up Scirocco R. This is actually the athlete version of the Scirocco which packs 265 hp and 350 nm of torque out of a race tuned 2.0 liter TFSI engine. Five copies of this car are specially prepared for Nurburgring 24 hours race.

The combination of this engine and an advanced DSG gearbox can result into acceleration from 0 to 100 in 6.4 seconds, you can also have it with a proper manual 6-speed as well but then you hit 100 in 6.5 seconds! As usual top speed is limited to 250 km/h. DSG gearbox has another advantage and that is fuel economy. It averages 8.2 liter per 100 kilometers.

VW Scirocco R comes with some visual upgrades to distinguish it over the normal ones. It has revised bumpers with big air intakes and daytime running LED lights and a diffuser and a roof spoiler at the back, all adding up to its sporty look. You can have it with 18 or 19 inch wheels, it is also fitted with bigger brake discs.

As for the interior the car has a sporty black theme garnished with aluminum decorations. Bucket seats and sporty multifunctional steering wheel are other nice features here. And of course you get lots of R logos here and there! Scirocco R is also very well equipped, a top notch MP3 capable sound system, Bi-xenon headlights with cornering abilities, tire pressure monitoring system and an intelligent climate control system are some to mention.

Availability and pricing for the new VW Scirooco R are yet to be announced.

The race-prepared hot version of the VW Scirocco called the R20 has been scooped again in black with some stickers on it! The car will debut at 24 hours race of Nurbergring and it seems that VW had no problem finding sponsors for the car! As you know, Scirocco is literally a Golf GTI underneath and this R20 is powered by a 270 hp engine. Quit a recipe then for a class leading performance.

From day one that VW Scirocco came to life it was obvious that it’s the tuner’s favourite! I think this one is the tenth modified Scirocco we’ve seen so far. It is a good one though, APP Europe which is a tuning parts distributor has used the best of their parts from different brands in a complete package for the VW.

The 2.0 liter TFSI engine is boosted to 261 hp and 380 nm (standard 200 and 280) using Wimmer Racing Technology ECU upgrade. That is good for a top speed of 263 kph. So far, it costs 2500 Euros.

Then there is the MR Car with their limited slip diff for 2990 Euros and a software update for the DSG gearbox which costs 890 Euros! Of course they cannot let you go without a high performance braking system, but they ask 3200 Euros for that!

The new racing suspension installed on the car costs 129 Euros but it worth it because it’s original KW coils and springs, almost the best in business.  APP’s Scirocco features a sporty bodykit by Reiger which includes front spoiler (559 Euros), side skirts (328 Euros) and a rear apron with diffuser (329 Euros) and to complete the look of the car you gotta have APP 19 inch wheels for a whopping 5200 Euros!

Damn, you are much better off with the standard car!

Along with the Scirocco R20, VW is preparing two gas powered units for the 24 hour race of Nurburgring to prove that cars running on compressed natural gas can be as good as petrol or diesel powered ones.

The Scirocco GT24-CNG has a 2.0 liter engine converted to burn gas and turbocharged for the extra gut it needs for the race. It develops 300 hp which is astonishing for such displacement. It also has a six-speed DSG gearbox with paddle shifters to make more comfi for the endurance driver. The GT24-CNG seems to be capable of defending VW’s title in 2.0 liter turbo class.

The 24 hours of Nurburgring will be held in May, 23 to be exact, but the car will appear in public before that in a four hour race at the Ring on April 18th.

VOLKSWAGEN RETURNS TO THE NÜRBURGRING WITH THE SCIROCCO GT24-CNG

At the 24-Hour Race on the Nürburgring on 23/24 May, Volkswagen will field two Scirocco cars with innovative natural gas engines. Following the historic one-two victory at the Dakar Rally in January, which Volkswagen won as the first automobile manufacturer using diesel technology in the event, the Wolfsburg brand is now taking on another technical challenge – the use of EcoFuel engines in the endurance test twice around the clock on the world’s most demanding race track.

The two Scirocco GT24-CNG 2.0-litre turbo engines powered by natural gas deliver nearly 300 hp. In addition, the “factory” team will field three further Scirocco GT24 cars powered by 2.0-litre turbo petrol engines in the classic endurance race at the “Green Hell” in the Eifel region in Western Germany.

Last year, Volkswagen clinched a one-two victory in the 2.0-litre turbo class even before the Scirocco’s market launch.

“The 24-Hour Race offers Volkswagen an exciting stage to demonstrate its technical capabilities and expertise,” says Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen. “The Scirocco GT24 already proved its strengths as a dynamic sports coupe by clinching class victory in its debut race last year. In 2009, we are taking yet another step forwards by using two different engine concepts. We want to prove that Volkswagen offers different powertrain concepts, all of which excel in terms of high efficiency, dynamics and reliability. The Nordschleife and the 24-Hour Race provide an ideal test bed for this purpose.”

Engine technology: innovative and proven systems for the circuit marathon

For this acid test on the challenging Nordschleife, Volkswagen developed a CNG (compressed natural gas) version based on the 2.0-litre petrol engine that was victorious last year. The engineers primarily focused on the fuel induction system of the unit equipped with a turbocharger as well as on the balance between maximum exhaust gas temperature and full usage of the turbocharger’s potential in order to optimise both driveability and power output. The result: just under 300 hp and 350 Nm of torque which continue to be transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed DSG gearbox operated by paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

Natural gas as an efficient and clean source of power

The new generation of natural gas turbo engines takes full advantage of the high anti-knock quality of approx. 130 octane offered by natural gas fuel. This enables natural gas vehicles to achieve a level of driving dynamics unrivalled by any other alternative powertrain system. Furthermore, natural gas as a fuel is particularly eco-friendly as well as very cost-effective.

On average, natural gas vehicles reduce CO2 emissions by 25 per cent compared with conventional spark ignition engines. The combustion process generates almost no particulate matter or fine dust.

In addition to these technological innovations, Volkswagen tackles the challenge of the “Green Hell” with interesting driver combinations. The two natural gas-powered Scirocco GT24-CNG cars will be driven by Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg (D), Board Member for Technical Development of the Volkswagen Brand, and journalists Bernd Ostmann (D), Peter Wyss (CH) and John Barker (GB) as well as touring car ace Peter Terting (D), Nordschleife expert Thomas Klenke (D), former DTM driver Vanina Ickx (B) and touring car legend Klaus Niedzwiedz (D), two-time overall winner of the 24 Hours on the Nürburgring.

The squad of one of the three petrol-powered Scirocco GT24 cars reflects the exploit achieved at the Dakar Rally: “Dakar” winner Giniel de Villiers (ZA), two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz (E) as well as Dieter Depping (D) will take turns at the wheel during their excursion from rally to circuit racing.

A true juniors’ foursome is formed by last year’s winners Jimmy Johansson (S) and Florian Gruber (D) as well as Nicki Thiim (DK) and Martin Karlhofer (A). In addition, the formula racing specialists Congfu Cheng (CN), Carlo van Dam (NL) and Franck Mailleux (F) as well as the two-time 24-H overall winner Altfrid Heger (D) will share another one of the cockpits of the 330 PS Scirocco GT24 cars.

A model of success returns: the Scirocco GT24 on the Nordschleife

The 2009 24-Hour Race on the Nürburgring will mark the return of the Scirocco GT24 to the scene of its success. Last year, the Scirocco experienced its competition debut even before its production counterpart started selling on the market. Jimmy Johansson (S), Florian Gruber (D), Thomas Mutsch (D) and Hans-Joachim Stuck (D) secured class victory in the ultra-competitive 2.0-litre turbo class (SP3T) in front of an audience of some 200,000 spectators. The one-two victory in the field of 219 touring cars that had started from the grid was completed by Carlos Sainz (E), Giniel de Villiers (ZA), Dieter Depping (D) and Hans-Joachim Stuck (D).

Tests and races to prepare for the 24-hour Nürburgring

In addition to tests, Volkswagen’s preparation for the 24-hour Nürburgring includes three races in the BFGoodrich Endurance Championship Nürburgring. The Scirocco GT24-CNG will make its debut on 18 April at the Four-Hour Race on the “ring”.

Along with the hotted up Golf R20, VW is working on the Scirooco R20 as well, and both cars will debut at 24 hours of Nürburgring. The car is based on the concept version shown in Bologna Motorshow last year, but features different styling and has been tarted up for the race.

The car comes with a new front apron in form of a big mouth! unlike the Bologna concept which had three separate air intakes. But styling doesn’t really matter, this car is supposed to be a good racer, so what lies under the bonnet is the important thing. It features a 2.0 liter TFSI engine like its brother Golf R20 with 270 horsepower which is enough for 0-100 sprint of about 5 seconds. Other race-inspired elements are things like bigger wheels or a cockpit with bucket seats, aluminum pedals and a sporty steering wheel.

Golf R20:

B&B has already shown their expertise in turning VW cars into exotic machines and the latest proof is this handsome Scirocco which can be had with 350 hp. And it all comes from a 2.0 liter engine!

They actually offer six stages of engine tuning for this 2.0 liter TFSI, 235 hp (998 euros), 250 hp (1,198 euros), 265 hp (2498 euros), 286 hp(5980 euros), 300hp (8950 euros),  simply by adjusting electronics and fiddling with turbo boost. For the 350 hp version called EVO R they had to use a larger turbocharger, a modified crankshaft, forged pistons and a sport exhaust system.

Apart from engine, B&B offers a sporty aerodynamic bodykit along with 18 to 20 inch wheels. Suspension has been lowered by 35 mm, that not only makes the car look better, also improves handling. And to stop this beast you get larger brakes with 4, 6 or 8 calipers!

B&B also has an extensive program for TDI diesel powered Sciroccos ranging from 143 hp to 240 hp.
