Skoda will be competing in 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge Series IRC, which they won last year, with a new Fabia model. The new season kicks off in Monte Carlo. Now to celebrate that, and also 110th anniversary of the brand’s motorsport efforts, they launch the special edition Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo.
This sporty special edition, set for public debut at the Monte Carlo Rally in January and official premiere at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March, features visual upgrades as well as RS interior package and sport chassis as standard.
On the outside the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo boasts black plastic body mouldings over the wheel arches and down the full length of the car, a black roof, black wing mirror covers, a black radiator grille and darkened headlamps. The 16 inch Comet light alloy wheels are also finished in black for perfect harmony and sporty look.
The interior is either black or, optionally, black with red inserts and door panels. Both versions come with black headliner, sports seats, the “small” leather packet (perforated leather-clad steering wheel with red thread, handbrake handle and gearstick gaiter – also with red stitching in the red-interior version), inner sill strips and metal pedal covers.
Trimwise the Fabia Monte Carlo is based on the Ambiente version, but it can be had a range of engines including 1.2 HTP/44 kW, 1.2 12V HTP/51 kW, 1.4 16V/63 kW and 1.2 TDI CR/55 kW, 1.2 TSI (63 kW and 77 kW) and 1.6 TDI (55 kW, 66 kW and 77 kW). All models will get only a manual gearbox.
Skoda will take orders for this special Fabia from February.
