Yesterday we had the first details and pictures of the new ‘i’ BMWs, and now the official video and more facts.

The cars in question are the BMW i3 Concept and BMW i8 Concept, premium cars designed with sustainability in mind. One is a small city car and the other an awesome-looking supercar.

The i3 city car has a full carbon fiber body but still weighs 1,250 kg and is powered by a 125 kW electric powertrain that send the power to the rear wheels and enables it to be as fast as 93 mph. The range is approximately 150 km or 80 miles, which is only enough for urban commute. A full recharge takes 5 hours.

The magnificent i8 on the other hand, is an electric hybrid, with a system consisting of a 3.0-liter in-line six internal combustion engine and an electric motor to back it up, all for a total output of 349 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. That means the 08 can go from 0 to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph. The most incredible thing about it though, is the average fuel consumption which is 78 mpg or under 3 liters per 100 km.
