At the semiprivate ’40 Years of M’ event BMW held at the Nurburgring this week they unveiled a new special edition M3, designed to celebrate the car’s 2012 DTM championship title, which BMW won spectacularly in its comeback season. They had to celebrate it in a special way.
And the M3 DTM Champion Edition seems to be just about perfect. Limited to 54 units – an homage to BMW’s 54 DTM race wins – the Champion’s unique features include a Frozen Black paint job, M striped on the roof and the truck – homage to the actual race car, standard Competition Package including black wheels, gloss black air inlets on bonnet, carbon fiber front splitters and carbon fiber rear spoiler.
The car is also garnished with a couple of graphics and decals paying tribute to the championship winning driver Bruno Spengler, including his signature on the carbon fiber trim, helmet design on the sills, and decals on the rear windows.
BMW should released official details and pictures of the car soon, so stay tuned.

What a beast. The frozen black paint job looks brilliant. Any idea how much these will retail for? I imagine a hefty price tag since they’re limited to 54 models.
