2014 Toyota Tundra 1 600x400 at 2014 Toyota Tundra Specs and Details

As the production of the 2014 Tundra gets underway at Toyota’s assembly plant in Texas, the car maker releases details and specifications of the new pickup truck. Toyota was so adamant to make the Tundra appealing to Texan farmers that they actually hired a couple of them to help develop the car.

The bold and aggressive-looking Tundra comes in three cab styles: two-door Regular Cab, four-door Double Cab, and the super-sized four-door CrewMax. The Regular Cab and Double Cab models are offered in standard bed (78.7-inch) or long bed (97.6-inch) configurations, while the CrewMax comes with a 66.7-inch bed. All beds are 22.2-in. deep.

The much improved cabin features plenty of wood and leather, and nice details such as 3-D metallic rings and individual gauges grouped in a clear, easy-to-see design with a center-mounted multi-information (LCD) display screen. It remains rugged and durable, though, as you’d expect from a hard-working Toyota pickup truck.

The 2014 Tundra can be had with three engines. The first choice is the 4.0-liter Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) V6, which is the standard engine on the Regular and Double Cab models, developing 270 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 278 foot-pounds of peak torque. With a five-speed automatic transmission, this engine does 16 mpg city, 20 mpg highway and 17 mpg combined.

Next, we have the 4.6-liter, DOHC i-Force V8 that offers 310 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 327 foot-pounds of peak torque. This one is capable of 15 mpg city/19 mpg highway/16 mpg combined on 4×2 models and 14 city/18 highway/16 combined on 4×4 models.

The most powerful engine available is a 5.7-liter, DOHC i-Force V8 with 381 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 401 foot-pounds of peak torque. This one manages 13 mpg in the city,18 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg combined for the 4×2 models, while the 4×4 achieves 13 mpg city/17 mpg highway/15 mpg combined. Both V8s come with a six-speed automatic. Tundra has a maximum tow capacity of 10,400 pounds.

Standard on all models are Anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), Automatic Limited-Slip Differential (Auto-LSD), and traction control, as well as Bluetooth, backup camera, power seats, navigation, monroof, windshield wiper de-icer, front and rear mudguards, power window and door locks, and heated, power, outside mirrors, and…
