On the very first day Chrysler opened the order book for the new 2015 Chrysler 200 they received over 10,000 orders. Next day that number rose to 17,000, and so the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant finally started production, having over 20,000 orders in the bag.
That is an extraordinary success for the new 200, and goes to show how much money and potential customers Chrysler wasted with the previous model, which, to put it lightly, was godawful. The new model is not the best car in its segment, either. But at least it looks cool and it has a nice interior.
The looks of the 2015 Chrysler 200 have a sort of retro flavor to it that set it apart from the rest of the cars in this class. It is a very good design for a car with a base price of $21,700.
Chrysler 200 is also the only car in its segment with a nine-speed automatic transmission. It makes the best of the two available engines’ output – 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 with 295 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque, and 2.4-liter MultiAir2 Tigershark I-4 with 184 horsepower and 173 lb.-ft. of torque – and results in great fuel economy.
2015 Chrysler 200 is available in four different models: LX model, Limited, 200S and Premium.
