Ferrari 550 Barchetta 0 600x400 at Do Want: Ferrari 550 Barchetta

Our ‘do want’ of the day is another jewel from Canepa Collection’s treasure trove of automotive goodness, a 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta. A limited edition, drop-top version of the iconic 550 Maranello, the Barchetta was a rare car back in its day and is considered these days one of the finest modern classics.

All that makes finding one of these for sale quite an occasion. This Ferrari 550 Barchetta is 379 of 448 ever made, and it’s basically a brand-new car having done only 1,875 miles since it left the factory fifteen years ago. As you’d expect from a 2001 Ferrari, the Barchetta is not exactly lavishly equipped. There’s no smartphone integration or dual-clutch gearbox, but it does have a 5-piece original luggage set and it’s been fully serviced in 2011 for the new owner’s peace of mind.

As for the technical specifications, Ferrari 550 Barchetta is powered by a 5.5 liter V12 engine developing 485 hp and 420 lb/ft (569 Nm). Even though the car is a front-engined, open-top cruiser built mainly for munching miles, it is a true Ferrari when it comes to outright performance, boasting a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h). We love this car above all else because of the way it looks. We think it is one of the prettiest Ferraris of all time.

You can find more about this Barchetta, including the price, at Canepa’s website.
