With the roads littered with speed cameras nowadays, TomTom – the maker of finest satellite navigation devices – felt the need for a system to keep users informed about speed limits during their journey. So they launched an iPhone app, which gives drivers access to fixed and mobile speed camera alerts. It even tells you the remaining distance to the camera, so you can adjust your speed.
It also informs drivers of their speed, the speed limit, and the type of camera ahead. If you are going too fast, a colour-coded warning system kicks in, letting you know that you have to slow down. Other features of the app is an average speed check function.
Here’s a demo:
This is the same TomTom premium Speed Camera service that uses the largest European driving community with 1.6 million drivers in 15 countries, but in a standalone app. The app includes real-time customer reports from drivers that share newly added or removed cameras with each other.
As for the price, TomTom is offering an introductory price of £1.49 for one month or £16.99 for 12 months. Normal price will be £3.99 for one month, £26.99 for twelve months.
