Following these first photos, we can now bring you the official details of the new Maserati GranCabrio MC ahead of its official unveiling at the fast approaching Paris Motor Show. Even though this car is a cabrio version of the MC Stradale, Maserati decided to just call it the GranCabrio MC, otherwise it would have been a mouthful.
The MC badge, as you know, is reserved for Maserati’s high-performance and sporty models. The GranCabrio MC complements the car’s range quite nicely, sitting above the Sport. So you get the standard GranCabrio which is a soft and cuddly four-seat convertible for long journeys, the Gran Cabrio Sport which is sharper and more of a driver’s car, and then the performance-minded GranCabrio MC.
AS if the standard GranCabrio wasn’t big enough, the MC is 48 millimetres longer than the GranCabrio and GranCabrio Sport. It inherits the Staradale’s front and rear-end design, featuring those large air intakes at front and that cool diffuser and central tailpipes at the back.
All those parts are not there just to look cool, they also have a profound effect on the car’s aerodynamic efficiency. But if you care about the aesthetics more, you can order them in exposed carbon fiber.
Maserati is yet to confirm the GranCabrio MC’s technical specs.
