The John Cooper Works (JCW) version of the 2015 MINI Cooper finally breaks cover and reveals a potent hot hatch ready to take on the likes of Golf GTi and Focus ST. The new JCW comes with a hotted-up 2.0 liter turbo power unit with as near as makes no difference 230 horsepower.
The twin-scroll turbocharger on that four=pot also helps generate 320 Nm of torque which is then used to propel the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 6. 3 seconds. Meanwhile stiffened suspension and beefy brakes make sure the car stays in check at all time. The new model is a staggering 100 kg lighter than its predecessor, which kind of explains the excellent fuel economy of around 6.0 liter/100km.
2015 MINI Cooper JCW also features a unique aero kit which is more of a visual feature distinguishing the car from normal models than something with real aerodynamic benefits. You get a front spoiler lip with large air intake above it, new side skirts, rear spoiler and rear diffuser. Special 17 and 18-inch wheels and the all important JCW stripes are among the other highlights of the car on the outside.
Inside, you find a leather-wrapped steering wheel, sport instrument cluster and steel pedals, plus various Alcantara accents. MINI Cooper JCW will make its official debut at the 2015 NAIAS.
