Granted, the new Mercedes SL is not an easy car to love. Its headlights are too big, it has an ungainly grille, and all in all, it looks too much like the SLK-Class, which is bad. But you don’t necessarily have to be pretty to be cool.

The SL550 is the finest version of the this generation SL. It has just the right amount of power and with a 0 to 60 time of under 5 seconds, it makes the SL63 seem totally pointless.
