Chinese-owned British car maker MG announced debut of a new small SUV concept called CS at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. MG’s first crack at making a crossover with the Icon Concept wasn’t so brilliant, but the CS, as you can see in the pictures, at least looks pretty good.
The CS is inspired in design by Mg’s current lineup, namely the MG6, featuring headlights which have a multi-faceted ‘shard’ structure which refract light in different colors and shape from the side, but coalesce to form the iconic MG’s trademark octagon from the front. The profile of the car is also quite sporty, what with the red accents in the roof rails, the side sills, and black A-pillar, as well as those massive rims.
Granted, most of these nice features may never make it into production, but with these Chinese car makers you never know. They might go ahead and make the car as it is. The crossover market is where the money is these days, so naturally MG is drawn to it. But we would love to see MG make a small, affordable sports car like they used to.
