Sometimes we think maybe it was better if Fiat had killed off the Lancia brand altogether many years ago. Today the company, reduced to making uglier versions of Fiat’s crappiest models, shows no sign of its glory days. I mean just look at their lineup of cars for the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. It’s depressing.
These are the Lancia Ypsilon Elefantino & ELLE Concepts, desperate efforts to make Lancia’s only model look more interesting by adding some visual drama and extra features. Lancia is stuck with this car for now and can’t change it even if they want to; not unless Fiat decides to revamp the Panda.
So the Lancia Ypsilon Elefantino gets three new two-tone paint jobs including Kaki Grey, Zaffiro Blue and Carrara Grey combined with Lime, Watermelon and Coconut. It also gets matter grey or gloss black grilles and mirror caps, plus some extra ‘Y’ badges here and there. The same story applies to the interior, where you get matching stitching and silver or black trim pieces, plus more ‘Y’s.
Then we have the Ypsilon ELLE concept, featuring a special Glam Cipria and Pearlescent Black paint job and leather and Alcantara interior with Galuchat effect, whatever that is. Both cars are very well-equipped, boasting stuff like climate control, stability program, chrome tailpipes, and Blue&Me system.
