Mcchip’s latest high-powered car is a first generation BMW X6M which they have boosted from 555 to 612 horsepower. The important is that this increase has been achieved through electronic modifications only.
That is remarkable as it shows first, the astonishing potential of BMW’s turbo engines for upgrade, and second, Mcchip’s expertise in extracting that potential through what is, essentially, a few lines of code. After a 3 to 4 hour work which includes taking the ECU out, modifying its chip, and putting it back again, the power of BMW X6M went up from 555 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque to 620 horsepower with 789 Nm which is a superb result.
BMW X6M is powered by a 4.4 Bi-Turbo V8 engine which is such an engineering marvel, it is still being used in the new generation M5, M6, X5M, and X6M. It features two turbochargers installed within the cylinder bank – a simple trick that enhances efficiency, economy, and responsiveness, and virtually eliminates turbo lag. This system proved so goos, Mercedes has copied it and is using it these days in their AMG models.
This particular X6M also benefits from a number of other mods, chief among which a wrap that appears to be an artistic take on the winter camo theme.
