As the new Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (QV) made its British debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Italian car maker announced the official pricing of the UK-spec version of the car. The 510-hp super sport saloon starts at £59,000. The QV will be joined in the UK by the rest of the Giulia range later in the year.

There used to be a time when if you wanted a high-performance sedan with a bit of style and a huge turn of speed BMW M5 was your only choice. Then along came sporty Mercedes and Audi models from AMG and quattro GmbH. And now there is this sexy Italian hottie that blows all of them out of the water with a gorgeous design and a top speed of 190 mph.

Making possible that ferocious speed is a Bi-Turbo V6 petrol engine developing 510 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. It also enables the rear-wheel-drive Alfa Romeo Giulia QV to accelerate from 0 to 620 mph in 3.9 seconds. But the coolest thing about this motor is the fuel economy, which is an excellent 49mpg corresponding to a CO2 emission rating of 189g/km. Mind you, this car’s Italian, so they might be lying.

The UK-spec Alfa Romeo Giulia QV comes on one well-appointed trim level, boasting as standard 19-inch Quadrifoglio alloy wheels; sports front bumper with Alfa Active Aero; sports rear bumper with functional diffuser; sports exhaust with four outlets; Alfa Active Suspension and bi-xenon headlamps with LED DRL. Safety specification includes advanced Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Monitoring (DSM), Alfa Romeo’s new Integrated Braking System (IBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and a rear-view camera with guide lines.
