Volkswagen might be run by a bunch of cheating bastards, but there is no denying those people are experts at making brilliant hot hatchbacks. Take the Golf R VII, for instance. It’s a 2.0 liter family car with 300 PS factory standard horsepower.

That is more than enough for a car like this and perfectly satisfactory for having a good time behind the wheel. But there are those who always want more, and for them Mcchip-DKR has come up with a stage 3 upgrade package that increases the output of Golf R to nearly 400 horsepower. And that’s still from a 2.0 liter!

In order to achieve that kind of oomph, Mcchip goes to town on that TFSI engine, replacing the turbocharger with a higher performance unit and installing a bespoke downpipe for the sport exhaust system. Naturally, the car also gets a new engine management software which is Mcchip’s main speciality.

The result of these changes is that this blue Golf R now offers its driver 392 PS and 472 Nm of torque instead of the standard 300 PS and 380 Nm of torque. That will undoubtedly have a profound effect on the performance, although Mcchip has not tested it yet.
