Now that the new gen Mercedes CLS has been fully revealed, we’re eagerly waiting for the next AMG-powered model. And based on the reports from the factory, rather surprisingly, the new car won’t be powered by the new 5.5 lite BiTurbo V8 and will maintain the current 6.3 liter V8. It also gets the current 7-speed MCT gearbox to transfer 544 hp and massive 800 Nm of torque to the rear wheels.
We don’t mind that the 2011 Mercedes CLS63 AMG gets the old engine, becasue that rumbling V8 is still good and with that much power it serves its duty pretty well.
What we are really looking forward to is the design of the 2011 CLS63. The regular CLS has become more luxurious and kinda fat, or as Top Gear says less like a tropical fruit! But we think that it has lost some of its charm along the way. It is still very outlandish, but the old one is still the one that floats our boat. So let’s hope the aggressive changes that AMG Mercs always get to be distinguished over the normal models make thing better.
New Mercedes CLS63 will probably debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Motor Show.
