Last month Honda’s in-house tuner Mugen teased us with an upgrade package they’ve put together for the magnificent Ariel Atom sports car. And now that the car is fully unveiled at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham, we can bring to you actual pictures and official details of this motorized adrenaline rush!

Mugen picked the normal version of the Atom, and not the V8, to tune simply because the base model is powered by Honda Civic Type R’s engine. They have increased the output of this small but poisonous four-banger from 240 to 270 hp. With a few more adjustments like adjustable dampers or racing springs, they’ve also managed to improve the car’s road behavior.

And they had to worry about this beast’s road behavior since as it does 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and can reach about 150 mph top speed!

They will only make 10 of this tuned Atoms, and each will run for about 60,000 euros. You can buy a Porsche 911 for that money, which is obviously a better all rounder, but that won’t dish out as much fun every time you take it for a spin.
