Alfa Romeo announced a new edition of the gorgeous Giulietta in the British market powered by a 140-hp version of the super efficient JTDM diesel engine. The JTDM-2 MultiJet Common Rail system features advanced solution for controlling high injection pressures.
This technology is also presented with the 1.6 liter 105 PS and the 170 PS 2.0 liter units, but in this new variant it develops 140 PS. The torque output depends on where you leave the DNS selector. In normal modes it has 320 Nm at 1500 rpm, bu tin the Dynamic mode it generates 350 Nm at just 1750 rpm.
This engine really excels at fuel consumption and Co2 emissions ratings. It achieves 62.8 mpg in the combined cycle with 119 g/km Co2. The performance is not that shabby either, with 0 – 62 mph in 9 seconds and top speed of 127 mph.
To meet Euro V standards, the car’s also equipped with DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and Start&Stop as standard. Moreover, advanced exhaust gas treatment technologies have been used, namely a close coupled diesel particulate filter and a built-in EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system that improves control of temperature and gas flow, simultaneously guaranteeing lower emissions and reduced fuel consumption.
One other advantage of this new engine is particularly long servicing interval, which is every 21,000 miles.
