On July 9 Ken Block will be releasing the fifth edition of his world famous Gymkhana extravaganza, and here’s a little teaser to get your engines revving. The venue this time is the streets of San Fransisco, so expect to see more than a couple of cool jumps. Kenny and his crew are currently busy closing SF’s streets and making a mess of them while shooting the film, but they’re doing this so you can have four or five minute of awesome motoring action to watch.
Block probably had no idea his hobby of powersliding a Subaru in empty airfields would someday become such a hit Internet show. He’s got YouTube to thank for a lot of it. These days Kenny uses a Ford Fiesta rally car.
“My idea for Gymkhana FIVE was simple, I wanted to build on the ultimate playground concept from Gymkhana THREE, and bring the franchise back to that raw and fast feel that the earlier videos had. I’ve always wanted to film a Gymkhana video in a city and there are few places as unique and iconic with such amazing topography as San Francisco.” said Block in a statement. “While movies like Bullit and various chase scenes have tried to use San Francisco to the fullest, I’m pretty confident that I’ve proven there was a lot left to be done on those amazing streets!”
